Being a male I had no clue in finding a hair salon on her behalf, so we visited the nearest business (Hair Pizzazz). Marissa was my stylist. I asked for someone who is good with short hair and I'm pleased with how well she did with me as a first time customer who wanted to "zero base" my hairstyle.

Now to clarify, this rating isn't for the whole salon, just ANDREA. You can judge the photos for…read moreyourself but here is some back story. I have been to this salon three times before. Once with Tara(amazing) and twice with Andrea. The first time turned out fine but the second time was a complete nightmare. To preface, I only get my hair done every 9 months and try to get natural highlights so when it grows out there isn't a huge difference. This has never been a problem before until this past visit. To start, the highlights were extremely rushed and put in in less than 40 minutes (for my whole head) and then she let me process for over an HOUR + heat. My hair is thin and never has taken that long but she was cutting another clients hair that entire time so she didn't come check on me until she was completely done with the other lady. I had a feeling they were not going to be what I wanted but I waited for the complete look. I expressed my concerns before paying, asking if she could tone them down and that isn't what I wanted. The highlights also only really sat at the top of my hair and just stop half way down my hair(even though i was doing my whole head). Her response was that I just needed to give it time to get used to the change, so I tried. After getting multiple second opinions I came to the conclusion that I wasn't just in my head and she actually did a horrible job. I reached out to her as politely as I could after nonstop anxiety and stress over my hair and I attached her responses below. Not a single apology and only blaming me for her mistakes. In addition she continued to make empty promises of fixing my hair even though she was telling me her plans of being out of town for the extended holiday weekend (meaning she actually wouldn't be in town). I also told her about my plans of going out of town as well so even if she did return into town, I wouldn't be there and that's why I wanted my hair fixed before I left. Before reviewing the images in the text chat only the very first image is from this most recent visit. The other photos are from 9 months prior and similar to what I was going for just with the preference of staying a little darker(which obviously did not happen). the attachments to this review are the photos after the most recent visit.

I returned to this salon for blonde highlights (bleach/foils) specifically because I had an…read moreexcellent experience with Victoria about two years ago--my results then were flawless. Unfortunately, this visit was the complete opposite. I clearly requested the same foiling pattern that had previously been used. Because I part my hair on the side, starting the foils along that part gave the best result. However, Victoria chose to use a different method and applied significantly fewer highlights than expected. It was very apparent that this was done to rush through my appointment while managing multiple other clients at the same time. The end result reflected that decision. My hair was noticeably over-processed, uneven, and poorly blended. I left with stark, white stripe-like sections down the middle and along both sides of my head--an outcome that looks unnatural and is difficult to conceal. This is not a subtle issue; it is a clear technical failure. The entire appointment felt rushed and lacking in care. The focus seemed to be on volume--fitting in as many clients as possible--rather than delivering quality work. This is a significant decline from the level of professionalism and attention to detail I experienced in the past. Victoria immediately acknowledged the problem and said she wanted to correct it, which made it clear she knew the result was unacceptable. However, that only reinforces that the issue was preventable and caused by poor execution and lack of attention during the service. I was also charged $220 for what was described as a 'partial' highlight, yet the coverage was far less than what is typically considered a 'partial' at most salons in the U.S. Charging a premium price for rushed, subpar work is extremely disappointing. To make matters worse, I am from out of town and was visiting on vacation, which made this situation even more difficult to handle. I am now left having to live with a poor color result for the remainder of my trip and will need to wait until I return home to have my regular stylist attempt to correct it. Based on this experience, I would strongly caution others against booking with Victoria if you expect careful technique, proper processing, and results that reflect the price being charged.

Hair Tease Studio (and Roberta specifically) saved my hair!…read more I'm new to Jacksonville from Los Angeles, and any woman knows that finding a person you trust to do your hair is challenging. Once you find someone good, you tend to stay for life. Thanks to Hair Tease putting a Groupon offer up in the area, I found Roberta. I looked up Google, FB, Groupon and Yelp reviews (all great reviews) and decided to try them out. Prices were reasonable, location close enough to me, with easy parking. And the great reviews were spot on, especially the previous yelp one about the rescue of the blonde! Oh my - Roberta - The woman can do hair! I needed someone to rescue my blonde highlights from the harsh beach salt air and harsh mineral Jax water. Roberta takes time to evaluate and set up a treatment plan for your hair. And it's worth it! (See my pic) It was one of my first ventures outside the house as the pandemic became more manageable in Jax. This quaint, woman-owned salon is a gem hidden inside a tucked away strip mall off Beach. It's sweetly decorated with antique mirrors and frames and reposed furniture (thanks again to Roberta's great eye for decor and talent for furniture painting). There are 4-5 stylists not all in on the same days/hours, and each works independently. They have coffee and water and southern hospitality. Roberta also sells great salon hair products at low to no mark up. She also adapted her schedule to accommodate my schedule between her fishing trips. She's funny as hell with her wisdom, sayings, and local tips. I even found a wonderful dentist and landscape / garden supply thanks to her recommendations. I've been to her regularly over the last year and she is consistent, pampers your hair, shares her wisdom of biscuits, local Jax, plants and landscaping (her original career) with kindness and generosity. I've even discovered she cares for her long term elderly clients with dignity- honoring their restricted budget with reasonable prices and helping them feel beautifully quaffed. So sweet. Needless to say, I highly recommend Hair Tease Studio!
