I went home to Toronto from Victoria. It was the first time I travelled with Westjet. I would say…read morethe experience is good. From Victoria to Edmonton, then to Toronto. The experience back and forth was trouble free. And that's really all you can ask for in an airline these days. Anything on top of that is a bonus. I checked in at the airport counter in Victoria and the gentleman asked me if I checked in online. I didn't at that time. But on my way back I went online and it allowed me to check in within 24 hours of the flight. It was fast and easy and all I had to do reaching the airport is to go through security and proceed to the gate. My boarding pass was in my eWallet. The seats in economy are decent. Enough leg room. Although they give you half a can of drinks and a couple of pretzel snacks. I've wondered if I can ask for the whole can as I was thirsty but never got to ask as I see everyone getting half a can. Didn't want to sound "privileged". There is a menu from which you can order and pay for meals. I'm not sure if it is good but I posted the menu here. The waiting time between flights during lay overs was good, not too long and not too short so you have enough time to transition for your next flight. The flight attendants are nice, courteous, and have a good sense of humor without crossing the boundary of professionalism, especially flight 341 from Edmonton to Victoria on Oct 25. The flight attendants were warm and the one making the announcements are refreshingly funny. I've encountered flight attendants in a different airline attempting at humor but it was really offensive and crossed rudeness and inappropriateness. It's still customer service you know. And from my first Westjet experience the crew understood this. From now on I will continue to patronize this airline. I know no airline is perfect, but as long as it's not a disaster that is AirTransat who lost my luggage and compounded the whole situation by their lack of empathy, lack of customer service, lack of response. And Ive been traveling for over 30 yrs. Well done Westjet and I hope you continue improving and can be the airline Canada is proud of!

QUESTION OF LEGALITY?…read more I booked and paid for a return flight from Victoria to Hamilton on 31 July, 2022 for my wife and myself on WestJet Airlines ($2480.42). The flight was scheduled to depart Victoria on 22 September, 2022 and return on 26 September, 2022. I cancelled the flight well in advance of the departure date because of a medical issue with my wife. I was informed by WestJet that they would return a portion of my payment ($254.10) and the rest ($2226.32) would be moved to a "Travel Bank" as a "credit". I have one (1) year to use the amount in the "Travel Bank" only on WestJet and then it expires. IS THAT LEGAL? I have paid for a service that was never provided and now WestJet is keeping my money. Are other businesses allowed to do this? I rather think not! This was not a "last minute" cancellation with ample notice provided to WestJet which allowed them to "resell" the seats we reserved. There was no inconvenience to WestJet. No service was provided. I have no intention of flying anywhere in the future let alone with WestJet. I am requesting the return of my money immediately. In many circles this treatment would be construed as robbery. How can this be allowed!

WestJet - Awesome. Small plane, almost no passengers, left over napkin from last guest stuffed in seat pocket. Great job, WJ

I measured my bag, a tube 40x20cm, and thought I was good. At the airport during check in they had me 'size' the bag in a narrow 12 cm x god-knows-how-deep-and-wide letter box like thingy. Needless to say it wouldn't fit. When I asked for a measuring tape (oh, yeah!..I did) the young girl at the counter suggested then to remove a few things and try again, which I did. It fit. Now she lables it and tells me that I am all good to go. Well, when at the gate queuing another young lady asks me to remove my gilet (a fishing gear with many pockets where I had put the two items taken from my bag, a braun series 9 and a poncho) and empty it! Whaaat??! Oh, yes, she wanted me to put everything back in the bag and size it again! Bottom line the small bag allowed by my original booking turned out to be a personal item (still though 15x34x43cm) like a laptop or a small purse, and they now wanted me to pay and extra 79$ even though they had already okayed me downstairs. 'It is that' she says ' or you are not flying today'. Now, I wasn't the only one subjected to this routine on that flight but I was the one they (over)charged the most. Prices varied from 56$ to 79$ for the equivalent bag. Btw, downstairs at the counter before telling me to remove a few items they told me that if not fitting I had to pay 67$ and not 79$. Bottom line, they hook you up with cheap tickets to then blatantly cheat you out of the rest of the money at the airport.

I am leaving this review in December 2021 about Far and Away Adventures' offering of RAPID COVID…read moreTESTING for air travellers. If you are traveling out of YYJ Airport and live nearby, then this is the place to go because: (1) The rapid-test can be done quickly, with the option of picking up the kit from their store in Sidney and taking the test, at home, via live video, scheduled in a timely manner, such as (as I leave this review) less than 24 hours ahead of my flight departure. (2) Far and Away Adventures was the strongly preferred choice by a close friend who has traveled to the U.S.A. by air within the past week who told me these two things: (a) Far and Away delivered the services and the results in a timely manner, as promised, and they were able to board their flight; and (b) many passengers were made late for their flight because they used another service that is located VERY VERY VERY CLOSE to the airport. If I am able, I will leave my review about that other service. The only drawback to the Far and Away Adventures setup is you must pay in advance, instead of just 24-hours ahead of time. While the policy is understandable -- I'll be picking up my COVID test within the week but won't be taking the test until early next month -- but if my flight (or all flights to the USA) get cancelled (due to travel restrictions, if re-imposed) then I have paid ahead of time... well... perhaps they would, in that hypothetical case, revise the policy, and I wouldn't mind paying a deposit upon picking up the test, and then paying the balance the day before my scheduled online test. Just remember DO NOT go to the place that's so-close-you-can-walk to the airport terminal.
