I flew out of Denver on Air Canada on 8/5/15 to Athens with a connection in Torronto. My flight left Denver over an hour late due to it being to the weather being to hot and needing to decrease the weight of the plane. When we were approaching Toronto I was told that they had me down as a "missed connection" to Athens and put me on a different flight through Munich. Once we landed I knew I could make my flight since I didn't check any bags and I went straight to the gate. I was able to stay on my original flight, which should have been switched back on my intinerary. On this flight there was a medical emergency and we had to turn around and hour and a half, and land the plane in Gander, we were on the ground 2 hours, and then had to back track that hour and half, putting us on the plane for 15 hours instead of 10. During this time we were not offered any snacks, got horrible service, no drinks, and the food that is served is less than stellar. I can't believe on an overseas flight they do not offer snacks or at least food to purchase. I was less than pleased with this entire flight experience.
Then it gets worse. On my way back to the US on 8/15/15, i was booked to fly out of Dubruvnik on Lufthansa. I was unable to check in online, it was stating they could not find my ticket. So when i showed up to the airport to check in, they also could not find my ticket telling me it was "changed by someone" and no longer exists. I realize then that Air Canada had screwed up my entire itinerary when they had me as a "missed connection", changing my flight, even though I stayed on my original flight. Luckily after 20 minutes of panicking they were able to find my original ticket and merged it with a new one. However, they couldn't check me in for my connecting flight in Frankfurt the next day.
So, the next day i go to check in for my flight home, 3 hours early, out of Frankfurt and again they can't "find my ticket" When the ticket agent was finally able to link my ticket I no longer had a seat and was on the standby list. Somehow Air Canada had deleted both my flights home. I paid $1600 for my tickets and now was on a standby list to get home. This was all caused when Air Canada screwed with my ticket and tried to change me to a new flight. Even though I stayed on my original flight, it was not fixed in the system causing me stress and inconvenience when traveling home. I should never have had to deal with this, and NEVER should have been on a standby list for a flight I paid $1600 for and should have had a seat that I was able to choose and check in for myself.
I was already displeased with my experience on Air Canada, and now after this I will never fly with them again. read more
