The ferry ride from Victoria to Seattle (the FRS Clipper conveniently goes downtown to downtown) is quite scenic, crossing the Salish Sea (I think?) and winding south thru the Puget Sound. I don't mean to sound snotty, but I'm glad I purchased the slightly more expensive tickets so that I didn't have to wait in the overcrowded pre-boarding lobby, which seemed like a Covid factory outlet. The seats on the ferry were leather, for what that's worth, but I gotta say my fellow passengers were in general very loud. There was a constant loud buzz and it got a bit tiring and annoying after a few hours. Possibly, the open seating area and ship's poor inner acoustic properties may amplify normal conversation; I've never thought trains and planes were loud, for the most part. The ferry has a very small outdoor area at the back. The waters in the middle of the channel are a dark, dark blue, almost black and on that day were somewhat calm and lightly textured - beautiful. The ferry passes thru the Puget sound as little towns wind by on either side. Finally, Seattle appears and looks strikingly large as the ship approaches.

You've got to make this trip! It is fast and fun! I wouldn't do it any other way unless I got the VIP seats on the top. I don't know what the coach people do, but we got great service. Great service by the entire crew. This is a fun way to blast your way over to Victoria, Vancouver Island!

We took the FRS Clipper when traveling to Victoria and back home, which was a good way to travel. The FRS Clipper is located in downtown Victoria at the Belleville Terminal. The process was easy and straightforward to board on the clipper. We went to the terminal, went through customs and then staff directed you to your seat. No disruptions on the ride home, except for one abrupt stop we had to make for a small boat who was cruising on by. The ride home to Seattle from Victoria was less than three hours. Throughout the clipper, there were racks where you can easily store your carry-on. There was also a refreshments stand where they serve a full menu of sandwiches, salads and smaller items, with drinks. Staff also checks in with passengers to order items. I'm glad we were able to travel by marine to Victoria, which was a relaxing and easy way to do it. It's not cheap, but it's worth doing at least once.

Took the Clipper to Victoria last week. We chose seats by the window and were pleased with our selection. It would be nice if they had WiFi or outlets to charge phones / laptops. Most of the crew was pleasant , only exception was a rather rude young woman working the bar / galley area. Many guests are not aware they can't sell beer until after boat leaves dock. ( Just be nice - it's your job. ) Trip back had choppy seas so boat offered barf bags & complimentary motion sickness tablets. Boarding & exiting ship was handled smoothly.

The harbor is divided into 4 active sections. The cruise ships dock at Ogden Point in the Outer Harbour. The water taxi services the Inner, Upper, and Middle Harbour. It's a great transport option that is more affordable than a standard taxi. There can be a wait time. You may want to book a water taxi ahead of time if you're traveling in a group. The boat can only take up to 12 passengers. Our BC Bites & Sights guide booked it in advance so there was only a 10 minute wait at the Fisherman's Wharf pick up point. We saw a couple of sights along the way. There was a great view of the seaplane port, and the Empress Hotel in the Inner Harbor. We also passed under the Johnson Street Bridge with its beautiful aqua blue lights. We arrived to our destination (Mermaid Wharf) in a matter of minutes. Yes, I know we could have walked to Chinatown. It was already part of the tour, so why not? It would have taken longer to walk, and it was a cold & windy day. Some people in our group said it felt like being near the Great Lakes. The wind around Shoal Point was brutal that evening. I'm sure it's much worse in the Winter. It was fun! I think this is considered to be a Top 10 attraction here, and not just a ferry service. They do offer tours of the Inner Harbour as well as the Gorge Waterway. The latter one would be great for wildlife enthusiasts. That's definitely a tour I'd like to take one day.

Whether you're hopping between docks or joining a guided tour, the experience feels personal and relaxed. Boats seat just 11-12 passengers, making it a cozy ride with front-row views of the harbor. Even if you're just catching a lift, one-way fares are available and super easy to pay. QR codes at the docks make it seamless, and for those who are old-school, tickets can be purchased from a few local businesses or directly from the captains onboard. We didn't have time to jump on one of their narrated tours through historic waterways and neighborhoods, but it's definitely on our list for next time.

We just did one upgrade to get window seats in the economy area, which was totally worth it. The boat was less than half full - if it had been fuller I would have gone for more of an upgrade as the seating in economy is a bit narrow if someone is near you. Staff were friendly and on and off boarding was easy. Food looked edible and it was nice to have servers come through the cabin - they also passed out motion sickness pills - although our ride was smooth. Nice views of the water and mountains all the way there and back. I wouldn't recommend parking in the Bell Street Garage. Although it was ten bucks a day we ended up locked in the garage upon return for more than an hour due to a broken machine and limited staffing. Clipper was not responsive or helpful when we offered feedback on this partnership, which makes me dock a star.

They have great package tours or you can just get the boat trip. You do pass the into Canada and have to go through customs. Also the leave time in the A.M. can be quite early if you're not a morning person. In the terminal they do have plenty of seating as well as food and beverages while you are waiting to board. You get off in a fairly convenient location in Victoria, pretty walkable to most spots and to hotels. Why not five stars? The experience just wasn't as "nautical" as I was hoping. I felt like I was on a bus - the interior of the vessel gives that impression.
