The ferry ride from Victoria to Seattle (the FRS Clipper conveniently goes downtown to downtown) is quite scenic, crossing the Salish Sea (I think?) and winding south thru the Puget Sound. I don't mean to sound snotty, but I'm glad I purchased the slightly more expensive tickets so that I didn't have to wait in the overcrowded pre-boarding lobby, which seemed like a Covid factory outlet. The seats on the ferry were leather, for what that's worth, but I gotta say my fellow passengers were in general very loud. There was a constant loud buzz and it got a bit tiring and annoying after a few hours. Possibly, the open seating area and ship's poor inner acoustic properties may amplify normal conversation; I've never thought trains and planes were loud, for the most part. The ferry has a very small outdoor area at the back. The waters in the middle of the channel are a dark, dark blue, almost black and on that day were somewhat calm and lightly textured - beautiful. The ferry passes thru the Puget sound as little towns wind by on either side. Finally, Seattle appears and looks strikingly large as the ship approaches.

You've got to make this trip! It is fast and fun! I wouldn't do it any other way unless I got the VIP seats on the top. I don't know what the coach people do, but we got great service. Great service by the entire crew. This is a fun way to blast your way over to Victoria, Vancouver Island!

We took the FRS Clipper when traveling to Victoria and back home, which was a good way to travel. The FRS Clipper is located in downtown Victoria at the Belleville Terminal. The process was easy and straightforward to board on the clipper. We went to the terminal, went through customs and then staff directed you to your seat. No disruptions on the ride home, except for one abrupt stop we had to make for a small boat who was cruising on by. The ride home to Seattle from Victoria was less than three hours. Throughout the clipper, there were racks where you can easily store your carry-on. There was also a refreshments stand where they serve a full menu of sandwiches, salads and smaller items, with drinks. Staff also checks in with passengers to order items. I'm glad we were able to travel by marine to Victoria, which was a relaxing and easy way to do it. It's not cheap, but it's worth doing at least once.

Same Clipper, different country... The Victoria Clipper from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada to Seattle is just a smooth and scenic as the ride in reverse. I will say that the office at this location is a bit lackluster (dated) compared to the more modern one back at the Seattle, Washington port. There is a lot of history, culture and architecture all around the area, but this is definitely a place that could use some renovations in the future. Overall good customer service and very polite professional customs officers... Customs was definitely the most up to date aesthetically and all in all. We were able to leave our bags here early in the day on our last day here and tour about before heading back, which is a plus for sure when visiting. I know the Clipper has been down since March/April, but hope you can enjoy the experience when they are functioning again in months ahead possibly as soon as a month...

What a cool experience! It's a ferry that takes you to your destination when traveling around…read moreVictoria Harbour. You can totally see why it's needed just by looking at a map of the city. The harbor is divided into 4 active sections. The cruise ships dock at Ogden Point in the Outer Harbour. The water taxi services the Inner, Upper, and Middle Harbour. It's a great transport option that is more affordable than a standard taxi. There can be a wait time. You may want to book a water taxi ahead of time if you're traveling in a group. The boat can only take up to 12 passengers. Our BC Bites & Sights guide booked it in advance so there was only a 10 minute wait at the Fisherman's Wharf pick up point. We saw a couple of sights along the way. There was a great view of the seaplane port, and the Empress Hotel in the Inner Harbor. We also passed under the Johnson Street Bridge with its beautiful aqua blue lights. We arrived to our destination (Mermaid Wharf) in a matter of minutes. Yes, I know we could have walked to Chinatown. It was already part of the tour, so why not? It would have taken longer to walk, and it was a cold & windy day. Some people in our group said it felt like being near the Great Lakes. The wind around Shoal Point was brutal that evening. I'm sure it's much worse in the Winter. It was fun! I think this is considered to be a Top 10 attraction here, and not just a ferry service. They do offer tours of the Inner Harbour as well as the Gorge Waterway. The latter one would be great for wildlife enthusiasts. That's definitely a tour I'd like to take one day.

Such a delightful way to get around Victoria's waterfront…read more These adorable little ferries are such a fun and scenic way to get around. Whether you're hopping between docks or joining a guided tour, the experience feels personal and relaxed. Boats seat just 11-12 passengers, making it a cozy ride with front-row views of the harbor. Even if you're just catching a lift, one-way fares are available and super easy to pay. QR codes at the docks make it seamless, and for those who are old-school, tickets can be purchased from a few local businesses or directly from the captains onboard. We didn't have time to jump on one of their narrated tours through historic waterways and neighborhoods, but it's definitely on our list for next time.

I think people only leave bad reviews when they don't get what they exactly want! Anyway- the workers were so welcoming! The process was very easy from buying the tickets to the end! We got there just in time (not the 45 min ahead like it said) and it was perfect! (Maybe before we were the first boat of the day?) Once in the charter it didn't take long for us to leave. While they are taking us out towards where the whales are... They told us a bunch of stories a bunch of scientific facts and a bunch of tips and tricks! We also saw a bunch of sea life just heading out to the whale areas! (Seals, starfish, birds, fish, jellyfish , etc) The ride was smooth and beautiful- DEFINITELY COLD (even if it's 90F in Seattle)! But the views are beautiful- both of the sea and Seattle!! It didn't take very long to get to the areas but once we did everyone had the same goal - SPOT THE WHALES!!! It didn't take us too long because we got lucky! There was a lot of activity that day! We ended up seeing 6 different orcas and 1 grey whale!! Super fun start to our day and now I can say I saw whales(:

But my god what a wonderful experience we had whale watching with the Emerald Clipper. Firstly this power catamaran has been in service for 3 months as of this review. It is absolutely beautiful, comfortable and fast!!! We left pier 69 in Seattle and booked on up to the Eastern shores of Whidbey Island where we encountered a rare-ish sighting and 30 minute hang with a Grey Whale. So amazing. We then turned south to round the tip of Whidbey where we almost tripped over a second Grey Whale. My god!! There are whales In puget sound!!! But we didn't hang with this guy as the captain was focussed on getting us just about into the strait of Juan de Fuca for an incredible experience with a small family pod of Biggs Transient Orca!! It was breath taking!!! All I can say is get out there. This experience was amazing. The luxury of the boat the friendliest crew and a full bar with lovely food options makes this a real pleasure cruise!! Loved it!!
