Back in August I had to have my air conditioner fixed by Urban Works. I was informed I had to pay an extreme $450.00 to have my system tested after a new condensor was put in the system. This is ridiculous. Took almost 2 months to get an appt booked after multiple calls. They did the testing an apparently my system failed. We had a stubborn commercial kitchen hood exhaust. It had not been operated in years, but we needed to earn our operating permit from the County. Robert Bachus, the owner of AHP Testing made time immediately to help us out. We were up against a deadline to open the restaurant, and unfortunately failed our first air balancing test. Robert did not just deliver the bad news and move to his next appointment. Instead he helped us troubleshoot the cause of failure and coordinated closely with the HVAC contractor we were using. After we hustled to source the items Robert advised us on, he put us back on his already busy testing calendar for the following day. As murphy's law would have it; Robert shows up with all his gear, we turn the exhaust system on and it still was not working properly. Rob made his way to the roof to troubleshoot and even made some adjustments to the fan belt - going way above and beyond! Not 40-minutes later we passed our air balance test! Throughout the process Robert was steadfast, calm, resourceful, collegial, and above all humble when we praised him for all the help he gave to us. Every homeowner should have their HVAC system tested by AHP. I called Robert because we suspected that our home (built in the (70's) was not up to contemporary standards for efficiency and air leakage. His testing equipment confirmed our suspicions and we took remedial action immediately. I even had AHP come back for a re-test to ensure the work accomplished hit the targets set for air leakage by AHP. Robert is an expert in this stuff and I can't recommend AHP enough. For 20 years we have struggled with keeping the air cool enough in our home during the hot summer months. Our utility bill was over $500 each month, while our neighbors was 1/3 of that. I'm so glad we called AHP testing. After we had a new air conditioning unit installed, Robert came out to our place to perform testing on our old duct work and found our duct system was leaking about 20% of air flow. After our air conditioning company fixed/repaired and replaced old duct work, we saw significant savings on our overall electricity bill. Robert's pricing was great compared to other companies that quoted us on title 24 testing. His customer service was great and he really knows local codes.
