Love this yoga studio! Are is truly amazing- warm, friendly, excellent guidance for beginners!

I loved the class. The teacher, Arundhati, is super patient with all levels. She will let you know which poses would be difficult depending on your mesical/physical conditions if you previously let her know. Also, She can give you a variation should you feel that a pose is not gonna happen :D I've seen results on my flexibility with a few classes. I really enjoy time here and eventhough some poses could be challenging at first, next class will be better :) This class has everything: excersise, a bit of self awarnes and relaxation. If you have been trying different types of yoga, you will notice that this mix is perfect ;) you can also ask multiple questions or get help or tips for each student. The class can get around to 15 people (average) so you better arrive on time. It's a medium studio. It has a very interesting ceiling which I like! But at the same time, it will be better arriving just in time to find a parking spot. read more

Aham Yoga is a very authentic and welcoming yoga studio. I started here at the beginner series and after the course signed up for a level 1 set of classes. The pace, explanation of yoga asanas, and purpose and connection of mind and body was great. Over time I felt my awareness increased and I felt overall less stressed and slept better. She is one of the best teachers and I love her classes so much that I even ended up doing a teacher training program as well with her. Arundhati is very knowledgeable and her practice is authentic. The studio is located on a beautiful open lot where you practice to the sounds of nature and your own breathing. I found Aham when I was looking for a good pre-natal practice and I completely credit Arundhati and her mindful practice (that strengthens both your body and mind) for my good health during my pregnancy, my easy labor, and my quick healing post-partum.  She remembers her students as well as their health concerns and tailors routines accordingly - the hallmark of a truly dedicated yoga teacher. She also teaches Pranayama every few months and those are highly recommended too. I continue to practice yoga and hope to for life thanks to Aham Yoga. read more

This studio teaches Hatha yoga inspired by Iyengar. I attended Level 1-2 and 2-3 classes here. This studio is set a bit away from the crowds and the hustle bustle. I loved the chirping of the birds I heard outside. Went very well with the calm of the yoga practice. The classes here are all taught by the owner. She is a great teacher who pays close attention to every student. I loved how she noticed the minor details and her cues landed perfectly for me. She provides assists when she feels a verbal cue is not landing. She keeps the classes fun and interactive. I was amazed by how much she remembers about every student. She makes every student feel seen. There were 2 pregnant women in our class and they were doing a different sequence altogether for part of the class. This seemed almost seamless to the rest of the class. She provides great modifications and variations to almost every student in class. She encourages the use of props and she made me use some where I don't normally use them. This really helped me with those poses(shoulder stand and hanuman) and made me feel a sense of accomplishment. read more

I was totally new to yoga had no clue stumbled upon Aham Studio when dropping my son to soccer in Perrigo Park and signed up for the beginners series that was due to start the next day. I was welcomed by Arundhati by name as I walked through the door and have not missed one session. 6 months have passed and my physical and mental fitness has improved beyond all expectation. I still have so much to learn but the regular classes and variety of instructors has inspired me to keep working hard and I know with the studio sessions I am being carefully guided through my own progress and growth. I would highly recommend Aham Yoga Studios - there are a variety of classes for all levels and all the instructors are great at adapting to the individual needs and varied abilities of whomever attends. My daughter also has now started teen yoga and this has been amazing - her self confidence has grown, her agility in horse riding has improved and her stamina for soccer increased but most of all her instructor Marcy has inspired her and has made the class so much fun! read more

Love love love Arundhati (the owner) , the studio, the students, the other instructors here at Aham yoga.. I'd been shying away from yoga all my life mostly because I thought it was too slow too dull for the athlete in me. Then a series of falls and broken bones, rolling ankles just by walking etc I started to wonder if I needed yoga in some form..some classical form though I would have none of the 'westernized' 'hot shot yoga classes..i don't recall how i came across this place but it was such a coincidence that this place turned out to be the same as what a co-worker had been referring to over lunch..it takes a lot for me to be hooked to.something and I was hooked from day 1. I absolutely loved Arundhatis teaching style, her attention to detail - both for the asanas as well as her attention to individual students.. she made sure knew about my broken bones and balance issues, suggested variations, and ensures we understood that the physical asana is just one aspect of yoga.. it's much more than that.. I've learned so much from her over the part year and a half.. i was very very sceptical when i signed up for the beginner's classes because is tried it twice before at other studios and had left midway or worse had been a noshow.. but this exceeded all my expectations..she keeps the classes fun, yet disciplined, teaches the classical keeping us 'modern ' lifestyle in mind, knows each student(yes she actually knows every student by name, history, where they are in their practice ertc), and while she encourages us, she also doesn't hesitate to remind us to be patient with poses..i finally can do the headstand propped against the wall going up by myself and it took me more than a year to get here..she knew when I was ready to be taught poses that would challenge my practice , to go the next level even before I did or gently pull me back when ahe observed I was struggling or being impatient.i can go on and on and on..her insightful yoga blogs, Facebook live events etc...of course not to mention the lovely community that's formed around her just so organically, the practice and the studio.. love the other instructors who started out as her students as well who make sure to carry forward her teaching style .. I've now recently started to supplement my physical practice with the practice of breathing/pranayam..love it..never thought id say that and needless, am a convert for life hopefully.. btw to anybody who doubts yoga doesn't make you sweat Or is cardio enough please try her 108 sun salutations class fir international yoga days celebrations or just attend even one class. I have practiced at Aham for about 2 years and just recently completed the Aham Teacher Training program. First and foremost, this is a welcoming community led by knowledgeable, passionate and professional instructor/owner Arundhati. Theirs is a wholistic approach to yoga incorporating both hatha and vinyasa in a non-heated studio (quite refreshing!!). Aru and her team of instructors are stellar, down to earth and are truly there to make you a more refined practitioner of yoga. Classical yoga is celebrated unapologetically here, and the levels of practice here ranges according to the needs of the practitioner - fabulous Beginners and Level 1 classes help lay a strong foundation for those new to practice or needing a refresher in the fundamentals (or needing safe/effective post-injury practice); level 2-3 classes to focus on the subtle nuances and refinement of asanas and approaches for seasoned students; all-levels classes (very fun classes in my opinion!) offer a variety of functional, approachable movement that appeals to a full-spectrum audience of yoga students. They even offer pre-Natal yoga - a doctor-supported, "field-tested" yoga practice that truly assists expecting mothers with their pregnancy, delivery and tips for post-birth practice. The teacher training is not for the faint of heart. It's a mind, body, emotional and spiritual challenge to understand the 8 limbs of yoga, bring them into one's own practice, and cultivate precision in asana and becoming the best teacher one can be. The bar is set high but the steps for success are clearly laid out! If you want to grow deeper in your own yoga practice and/or share yoga as an instructor, then this training might be for you! I always thought that you need to be flexible to do yoga postures but I was wrong. After I attended a few weeks of classes at Aham Yoga, I feel my body has naturally become more flexible. I went to the Aham Yoga annual retreat at Sleeping Lady Resort. Arundhati is a fantastic teacher. The group was wonderful. Most of them knew each other but they were very welcoming to me as it was my first yoga retreat and I had not previously practiced at the studio. The venue is beautiful, the food and accommodations are outstanding. I had a terrific time and hope to go back next year. read more
