In 2024 a friend of mine, a 1985 World Champion Chicago Bear--Shaun Gayle, with an assist from my…read morelaw partner, Dan O'Brien, surprised me with a placement of a beautiful teak wood park bench along the Chicago River by the Centennial Fountain in memory of my mother, Angeline Winters, who passed away at age 93 in October, 2023. I have lived at my condo about a block away and for the last 30 years and for the last 15 years of my mother's life she lived with me as she was handicapped and used a wheelchair. Well, the spot where my friend placed the bench was exactly where I would wheel her out for the fireworks every Wednesday and sometimes on Saturday. Well, because it is a beautiful bench and had a plaque with my Mom's name it is used quite often and sometimes people do not respect the bench and so it was wearing down and I needed to have it sanded and retained.... I talked with friends and searched the internet quite thoroughly and found Chicago Wood Refinishing. I saw the website and the work that they displayed and decided to give them a chance and met with Kevin....actually, Kevin came to me at the site of the bench and surveyed the bench's condition and told me what they would be able to do to restore the bench to its original condition. Kevin came out a second time and removed the bench planks and took them back to their business offices, where he and his father did a phenomenal job in bringing the color and quality of the bench back to its first day it was displayed to me in July 2024. Kevin and his dad are fine craftsmen when it comes to wood....any kind of wood. Now my Mom's bench is back in use for those who want a place to sit and think....or to watch the fireworks on Wednesday and sometimes, Saturday night. If you do, you will not only see the quality work they performed, but you just might meet me...watching the fireworks with my Mom. Thank you Kevin and father at Chicago Wood Refinishing. Not long after I moved in, part of the stucco ceiling on the front porch crashed to the ground. I think it goes without saying that it was a revolting and unexpected development. I requested quotes from the usual North Shore/north suburban firms. I received mostly eye-watering quotes that seemed completely unreasonable to me as a commercial property manager and real estate broker. Insurance and industry estimates were around a third of what many of the quotes were. Lilian Touch came out and quickly drafted a quote. They respected my desire to do a patch since we are undecided regarding how long we intend to stay and what we ultimately want to do with the exterior. Once we decided, Rafael was able to get me on the schedule quickly and they were able to complete a stellar job in just two days. Rafael and Lilian were not the least expensive quote, but I felt entirely comfortable with their estimate and I trusted them to stand behind their craftsmanship. The repair looks amazing and blends in near-perfectly. Lilian Touch far exceeded my expectations and should we decide to move forward with the entire house or additional contract work, they will be our first phone call! Highly, highly recommended!

Karina, the owner is extremely rude and not a good person to work with. In doing contracting work, it is more important to do business with good people than the business itself. The people Karina employ don't care either; they just want to minimal amount of work. You should take pride in your work; which they dont. I would not recommend Becker Works because of their customer service. They simply want to sell you the stone and do the minimal amount of work to see your project through. If they have to do anything more than their job requires they wont do it. They are terrible people to work with. We worked with them because Matt Brewer worked there; however he left to start his own company.

I reached out to Tony, as he had done a kitchen for my parents, and within two weeks, he'd come out, taken measurements, asked about our vision for the pantry, made and shared plans, and provided an invoice. We got the project going and in less than a month, I had my pantry installed. Boca uses high quality materials and delivers on its promises. If you tell Tony your vision, he makes it a reality. The installer that came out, Chris, was an absolute professional and perfectionist. If you can get him as an installer, I strongly encourage it. They did such an amazing job all around that we had them build out our home bar as well. Again, everything went smoothly. It's toughfinding contractors you trust to deliver on services, but working with Tony and Boca (and Chris as the installer) was a great experience. I recommend them whenever I am asked about recommendations for cabinets/ installs. Both Tony and Chris were professional, courteous, and delivered on their promises.
