Awesome customer service, the office team along with the entire setting is beautiful, all that's missing is a pond with benches & picnic areas and shaded walking paths!! They did an outstanding job in spaying my kitty, Princess. All done at a very fair country price, no up selling. My kitty was not stressed in one bit and seems recovered in less than 24hrs. I encourage anyone to give them just one opportunity to impress you too as they've impressed us!

Called & was scheduled in to do the spaying the NEXT DAY! We were very impressed with the professionalism shown & are leaning toward making Slate River our permanent vet! I just moved to the town a little over a week and haven't unpacked all my belongings yet in order to bring in the records for my cat. He was up to date on his rabies shot but I needed vetco to verify it with them. The vet came out and told me they were still on hold and I replied I would try to access the records online. Not even 2 minutes passed that I found the rabies certificate and called the front desk to let them know I had it and they could hang up. She said "ok, thanks we will be right out." The vet came out and said she already gave him the rabies shot(without my consent) and was still charging me for it. I paid the $157 Bill for "laser therapy" 2 antibiotics, office visit and rabies charge and left. Upon talking to another friend that had a similar experience I called in to talk to the owner(because giving immunizations without the owners consent with multiple individuals is a problem in my opinion and needs to be handled.) she replied in a snippety tone, "well people lie all the time and it's against the law for us to treat/release an animal without proof of rabies vaccinations...we also don't have time to wait around for 3 hours while people sit in their cars in the parking lot...but since I'm feeling EXTRA generous today, I'll refund the rabies shot." I told her that I'm not the type of person that lies, especially about things of that nature, and I found the records in less than 3 minutes, not 3 hours. I made the example that if you go in for an oil change and they charge you for new tires that were needed without your consent, you'd be irritated too. She didn't get it. I was refunded the 20$, but unfortunately the owner's stick Wasn't dislodged.

About that time, Fluffy started pawing at her front door. We plopped her in two-year-old Avery's lap in his car seat where she rode home without stirring. Our barely verbal toddler christened her Fluffy and she was immediately family. She endured aggressive baby hands, our frisky little dog, and a penchant for getting lost in dark spaces with her characteristic, lifelong calm. She once went missing for nine days and April and I were sure she was gone, but Avery announced, unsurprised, "Fluffy's back" when he saw her trotting down our road, leaving no doubt about where her home was. A neighbor later told us that a beautiful grey cat had streaked out of his garage when he had returned from vacation. When she did not appear immediately upon any of our arrivals home, we always knew to check our crawl spaces, closets and sheds. As much as she liked people, she also really liked dark corners. I like to think that makes her a complex soul. When our little ones cried, she would huddle near them. When someone was sick or sad, she positioned herself gingerly beside them. If you sat down, no matter where (or who) you were, your lap was fair game. I never read a book in the hammock that she did not find her way between my legs. People who don't like cats adored Fluffy and her unconditional, unobtrusive affection. Through 18 years, I don't believe she ever learned to hiss. She never scratched anyone or remotely considered biting anything other than her food. She was excellent at projecting love, spreading warmth, and simply being close to whomever she met. She slowed down, as we all must, this last year, but if it took a few extra lunges to get into the chair or bed, never did she complain. Even when walking got hard the last few days, she still found her favorite sunbeam and languished in it. The wonderful folks at Fork Union Animal Clinic helped us say goodbye. I thanked them for doing what must be the most difficult part of their job, but the veterinarian looked me in the eye and said that it was much easier when the people were emotional, for then they knew that the animal was truly loved. It has been two full years since he set foot on the property, but can still give details regarding the time we spent volunteering for this organization. Mary and her amazing staff run a tight ship, putting the care of a few hundred animals first in their lives. The facility is clean and cheerful, and there is no sadness seen in the eyes of the many many creatures that call this facility home. Dogs are kept one to two to a fenced run, and are walked daily by a long list of paid staff and volunteers. Cats are kept in two separate buildings, according to need. They have fewer volunteers, but those that come can easily find themselves buried in one kitty pile after another while grooming and socializing the cat population. Caring for Creatures is a no kill shelter, and they work hard to find the perfect adoptive families for their animal charges. We knew quite a few families who had adopted from CfC, and all sang Mary's praises. If you have some spare time or money, a donation to Caring for Creatures would be a fine way to spend what you can. They are a deserving organization.

The vet was outstanding, compassionate, and caring but what I respected the most is how she wanted to make my babies's life as comfortable as she can . She was very informative to us . But her main concern was my baby. For that I am truly thankful. I would recommend this practice to everyone. They were all so very caring and you can tell each and everyone of them truly love their jobs and love the animals.
