I brought my dog in for a holisitc review because she has several complex issues.
First, I asked specifically about pricing and the amount of time for the appointment. I was told it was $60 for "as long as it takes." The appointment did run long, and I was charged extra for it. I did not think that was cricket.
Second, I went to this vet in part because she advertises she does Reiki and animal communication. She offered neither, and when I asked about Reiki for my dog, who is very uncomfortable, she said it was not appropriate. She did not explain.
Third, I found it difficult to get information out of her. See the point above. Why was it not appropriate? Isn't Reiki supposed to help people/animals feel better?
Fourth, she examined my old dog very roughly, which I thought inappropriate for a 15 year old in pain. After all that, she could not offer insights other than observations such as the dog had weak hind legs. It didn't take an exam to determine that.
She sold me two homeopathic remedies, one of which did not work at all, and one which had some short-term success. She did not suggest a follow-up exam to see how the dog was doing after taking these remedies.
About those homeopathic remedies: It looks as though she buys them and then puts her own label over them. Because she hides the manufacturer's name, there is no way to look up information about content. For instance, the remedy she sold me had poppy seeds and skullcap. Anything else? Alcohol based? Can't look it up.
I will give her points for responding to my emails. She seemed to want to answer my questions but she never did, IMO. It took too much energy to get the information from her I sought. It was ask if we were talking on parallel planes. We just weren't in synch.
If you cannot find a good holistic vet in Lynchburg, you may want to look into Dr. Cook at the Animal Wellness Center in Crozet. I found her to be caring, gentle, and thorough, and so found it worth the trip. There may be a good holistic vet in Lynchburg, but I never found her/him. read more
