Pigs, etc. The family has been in business in the Conejo Valley since Jungle Land (current site of the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza) giving to the Conejo Community for over 35 years and is still supporting us! Agoura Feed is a well-stocked store with most helpful and friendly staff. It's in a pleasant easy-to-get to location adjacent to the freeway in a shady location. They are stocked with economical large sizes of standard items for chicken keeping that I was previously spending a *fortune* on in tiny 5 pound bags I was replacing constantly. There's plenty of parking and very personal service. Can't recommend it highly enough! I see there's 1-star review but it's old and doesn't fit my experience in any way. I've been coming to Agoura Feed for the past 4 years. I've always had quick, good service, but since the new ownership it's been even better. Best upgrade: I'm greeted by Teddy Bear every time I enter the shop. Teddy is the sweetest dog ever-- & Tony's right hand man. From Teddy to the Agoura Feed cats 'Snowball' & 'Bill' and all the great people that work there, we always feel right at home. Tony is terrific, always friendly & helpful. Horrible animal cruelty!!! My husband and I could NOT believe what we saw! I have never in my life written a Yelp review but after visiting this store today I feel like I should warn everyone. We took my little boy in to Agoura Feed to see the baby chickens and when we opened the top of the cage there were dead baby chickens everywhere!!! I quickly counting 6 that were right in front of me, The ones that were alive were so packed together that they were forced to step on the dead ones. When I looked closer, some of the babies were barely breathing. I quickly removed my son from looking any longer.When I told the man behind the counter he didn't seem to care. He didn't even get up and pretend to remove the dead ones. I was in shock!!! HOW and WHY would they allow my son to view such a horrible sight. AND EVEN WORSE, they have dead baby chicks in the middle of there store!! I will NEVER return. read more

Never had a problem ordering with Agoura. Actually preferred their service to West Valley in terms of Customer Service. However after today's conversation with the guy (not Tony) who works inside, I changed my mind. I called to say I needed 1 bale of orchard, that I knew their minimum is 5 but my barn mate would be calling to order as well. He gives me crap tells me, "uh I have to talk to my boss" so I said "is this hard or something? We are going to meet your minimum when she calls" he still acts like I'm bothering him (maybe because it's 430 and he wants to leave at 5?) and I basically say Look Bro, you have my card on file. When she calls in 5 mins, you will see this isn't as hard as you are making it out to be. Was completely baffled by this guy and thinks his Boss needs to go over customer Service with him one more time. His voice reeked of disdain and acted like my business was bothering him. West Valley's quality of hay might be not as reliable, but I would take the women inside the office at West Valley over this butthead any day. Plus the outside help at West Valley Rocks. Rabbits need hay. Most people don't know this, but hay is really good for rabbits and pet stores charge exorbitant prices for TINY bags of the stuff. ($5 for 1.5 pounds of hay?! I'm looking at you Petco). So I thought, I'd see if I could go by a bale of hay. I figured I had a place to store it and I could save myself some money. I stopped by Agoura Feed and they have both Timothy Hay and Orchard Grass. Just about $30 bucks later, I've got a bale of hay heavy enough I needed help to carry it. $30 of hay at Petco wouldn't even be heavy enough to constitute a workout. Thanks Agoura feed! read more

If I could leave a negative rating I would. This place is a joke. They delivered hay to us that was had foxtails - A LOT of foxtails. We opened one bale and from two flakes pulled at least 100 of them. It was covered in them. I called as soon as I saw them - the man who answered the phone didn't know what to do. He told me the owner would call back Monday. She called Tuesday and was unbelievably rude. I asked her to stand behind her product and she hung up on me. Now I have 10 bales of foxtail filled hay, they won't pick up, she said she "would look at it" if I bring it down as it could be bug infested or wet. How about this response "It's got foxtails? We would NEVER resell it. It's extremely dangerous to feed that to horses and we'll return it for you." Had I returned my foxtail infested hay instead instead of throwing it in my dumpster she would have sold it to YOU. AVOID THIS PLACE. read more

For over 10 years they have provided feed for my 3 horses, 2 donkeys, 2 goats and 4 dogs. They are always competive in price, service and help. I have a hard time understanding some comments about poor customer service. I have never heard or seen that at Agoura Feed. I highly recommend them and I will continue to use them. read more

The men who work there, the fellow behind the counter and the guys who load my car, are pleasant, professional and knowledgeable (they rate 5 stars). Good old fashioned customer service - I moved my horse 25 miles away for bed rest and I still go to Agoura Feed to pick up his Timothy hay. My husband and I have been buying chicken feed, feeders, waterers, etc here ever since becoming backyard chicken owners. Although both the dark haired woman (the owner?) and the other guy that works the register have never been friendly, it didn't bother me that much. This past weekend, we wanted to get a couple chicks to add to our flock. We went to the area where they have the baby chicks and started to look at them to see which ones we would want. All of a sudden, the guy who works the register came over and said we were not allowed to play with the baby chicks (?!). I explained that we were not "playing" with them, that we were looking to see if we wanted to buy some of them. He said that the customers are not allowed to handle the chicks. REALLY?! You want me to make a 10 year commitment to an animal that I'm not able to handle and look at?? I have bought chicks from three other local feed stores over the years and ALL of them let you handle the chicks. Are they serious?!! Again, he very rudely told us that we were not allowed to handle any of them. I said then we'll have to go elsewhere to buy chicks and he simply shrugged his shoulders and walked away. He has never been friendly but this was rude and insulting. No thanks! I don't need attitude when I buy my supplies. There are too many other feed stores in the area that actually appreciate their customers. Why anyone would actually hire this person to interact with customers is beyond me! read more

Let me begin by saying that I rarely leave Yelp reviews of any kind (good or bad) for any establishment, but I have just about had it with this place, or more so the lady that seems to be in charge. While there product seems fine and the prices about on par with other places, it is the customer service/attitude that is the problem. The gentlemen that load the hay are perfectly kind and helpful, but the woman who is often behind the counter is just ridiculous. We are (admittedly) novice backyard chicken owners, and one would expect that a store such as this would be nothing but gracious in helping people that want to learn more about how to better care for their animals. However, on at least 3 occasions I have been directly and inhospitably put down but this lady for asking questions. Today my children and I went in to get some food for our baby chicks and when I had a question about which feed would be right now that they have grown a bit, she threw her arms up in disgust and said "Ugh. You chicken owners really need to take a picture of what you want before you come in", then she just walked away. The other man behind the counter (not exactly Mr. Friendly, but inoffensive nonetheless) continued to finish our transaction. As much as I wanted to give her a nasty retort at the time, my kids were there and I figured there is no point in starting something with someone who is clearly as miserable as she seems to be. My perception is that if you are not a "horse person" or don't come in looking as if you have been mucking stalls all day, she wants nothing to do with you. Like I said, if this were the first time I had such an experience with her I would just let it go, but the third time's a charm! read more
