This location, at least on a Sat, closes at 6pm as opposed to 8pm (other locations) Closes at 7pm during the week, we were told. The woman clerk could not have been nicer and loved on our dog. We quickly bought 2 large bags of dog food and praised how spotless the store was. The pride showed. It was modern and cool. Lots of selection for dogs, 1 type of kitten food. Tons of treats and supplements. Not cheap but worth the splurge. The lady was so nice knowing that we were from out of town, offered us 2 cooler packs for the food in our cooler. Just a feel-good place and I cannot wait to go back as we are in Mailbu a lot. It is on the right hand side of the main drag (PCH) if heading north.

They've been very healthy to date as a result, with only minor issues due to a cracked tooth and upset tummy (due to ingesting something outside my front yard). When the pandemic restrictions hit, the veterinarian no longer sold JFFD at his clinic/hospital, and positively referred to a few local JFFD kitchen and pantry locations...one in particular was the Malibu pantry. I have been placing monthly orders with them ever since, and would give them a 10+ star rating if I could! Katie, in particular, has been taking my orders, following through exceptionally...making sure they arrive at my home safely, completely and on time, and is very knowledgeable, professional and kind...providing the best customer care possible!!!

The pitch is great as you'll hear about all the bells and whistles, the spa-like setup, the warm air dry... the whole sun-moon-stars situation. Reality is a little more... minimalist and COLD. The "warm air dry" is technically air. Emphasis on technically. Warmth seems to be more of a philosophical concept than an actual feature. Meanwhile my dog was cowering in the corner looking like he'd made several poor life decisions, and the manager watched the whole thing unfold while confidently attributing the issue to just about everything except the shoddy plumbing. The shampoo spray is another lowlight. I mean you'll spend a good chunk of time wondering if any shampoo is actually in there at all. It's more of a vague suggestion of soap. And the towels. There's a two-towel minimum, which sounds reasonable until you're standing there with a medium-to-large dog who is still very much... a wet mammal. You will absolutely need more. All in all, a hard pass. For $20, the experience feels less like a dog wash and more like a mildly chaotic rinse. Honestly, a garden hose in your neighbor's driveway might deliver a similar result with fewer sales promises attached.
