Fatty pieces of pork that are extremely chewy and unpleasant.

Very disappointed in the food I ordered this evening. The chicken on the nachos, quesadilla and burrito was extremely dry. They forgot to put the sour cream and Pico de gallo for the quesadilla in the bag. The nachos also barely had any fixings on it. Honestly, Chipotle would have been more satisfying. My previous dine in experience was great. But I won't be returning or ordering again after this experience. One last thing if you order from this place, stay away from any grilled pork dishes, nothing but fat bits they give you. It was nice for the manager to refund me the entire order after my wife called. Changing the 2 star rating to 3. Customer service at least is on point.

The Birria Nachos don't use melted shredded cheese but use a really bad cheese sauce. The steak in the Steak Quesadilla was very tough, chewy, had fatty chunks, and was underseasoned. This was my last meal here. The quesadilla also didn't come with any sauce , no - sour cream, guac, salsa.. nothing.

Finally tried Agave a few months ago after eyeing it for quite some time! The Shrimp quesadillas have been my go-to when I go to any kinda of mexican place! The quesadilla was super cheesy and delicious with plenty of shrimp inside! In my opinion, the best dish was the Queso Fundido! The chorizo was cooked perfectly and it was ooey and gooey - perfect for the rainy day that it was when I went.

Our waiter, Stephanie, was amazing, but the food.... it was underwhelming. There was nothing special about it, my birria tacos lacked flavor and had a soggy tortilla shell. Maybe I need to try some of their other menu options but birria is just a go to for me when trying new Mexican spots.

Haven't been to Cranford in a long time but was there today for the street fair. Unimpressed by the food truck selection I stopped into this cute and affordable Mexican eatery and was glad I did! I had the Tinga Burrito, which was chicken with rice, beans, cheese and Pico de gallo with a tomato chipotle sauce. It was absolutely yummy and came with nicely seasoned fries and tortilla chips with two different sauces. A lot of carbs but still very tasty. The waitress was very friendly and attentive but also left me be to enjoy my meal and the beautiful day and it was a perfect day for the provided outdoor dining. I'd definitely go there again when back this way. Only drawback is they don't serve alcohol, so all the drinks are virgin. Other than that, it was a nice new place to eat while at the fair.

At Agave, the food was good and the price was right. We made a reservation for a Friday night at 6pm and the vast majority of their indoor tables had signs on them setting them aside as reserved, so it seems to be a good thing that we did make that call. The interior was modern, cute, and indulgent. Staff wear masks and gloves but we were not asked to. Small issue though -- the staff hangs out in their bar area, and we then had to witness some unhygienic habits they had whilst wearing the gloves. Their guacamole was terrific, probably the best I ever had. I liked my Salmon Al Pastor well enough, though I did think it was lacking a bit in flavor. I would've asked for salt and pepper shakers to fix that but our waitress didn't stop by again while we were eating our entrees. The portions for all meals were generous. Would return!

A nice new Mexican Restaurant in Cranford. Convenient parking across the street in the municipal lot if there is none on the street. Waitstaff are lovely and attentive. Guacamole is worth it. Homemade chips and a decent portion. But be prepared as they don't serve chips and salsa that we all expect when eating Mexican. No sides with the meals it's all ala carte. The Birrira Tostados where tasty and the meat very tender, but it cried for some balance maybe pico de galleo or crema. The tostados tings were similarly good but needed some acid too. We tried the lime we had on the table for our drinks, it helped. But definitely worth a visit.

Chicken fajitas. I love the pyramid rice!

Good authentic Mexican food. BYOB/wine. Prices are reasonable. Relaxing atmosphere and lots of families having their evening meal. I would definitely go back for additional menu options. Would love to taste them all! Vegan options also available.

If I'm being frank, I'm surprised by all the good reviews. My husband and I were in the mood for Mexican food and decided to give Agave MX a try and to our surprise, it was a serious let down. Upon entering the establishment, there was no one there to greet us so we waited about 5 minutes just standing awkwardly in front of everyone at their tables (the layout of the restaurant makes for a weird entrance). Despite that, we still were ready to enjoy some "good" food. We ordered the nachos for our app and that was def a 4/5. It was our main entrees that disappointed us. I had the enchiladas and my husband had another dish and didn't rave about it at all. The enchiladas lacked the flavor I was looking for, and the rice and refined beans tasted old and dry. Also, we were bummed that Agave didn't have an adult beverage list, but rather it was BYOB. Since it was freezing thY day, we decided not to walk to a nearby LQ store and settle for the Pineapple Jarritos, which was fine. Overall, it's unlikely that we'll return to Agave because the customer service was a bit slow, and the food was pretty mediocre.

If you haven't tried Agave in cranford yet - GO! It is SUCH delicious Mexican food. We've been ordering takeout from there once a week (fine - sometimes twice a week...) for the past month and are totally in love. We intentionally double our order so we can have leftovers for lunch the following day ... The short rib tacos are amazing. As are the salmon tacos, the shredded pork tacos, the fresh made guacamole -- all of it. To top it off, the customer service is amazing. I am a allergic to onions and they have been so great at keeping onions out of our entire order. Tonight for the first time - the salmon tacos ended up with onions on them. I called and the manager apologized, made a new order of salmon tacos, and drove them to my house in Westfield. Can't tell you how thrilled I am with this new spot! Thank you Agave!

It definitely delivered, service was awesome, food was amazing, and also the restaurant is absolutely breathtaking. The interior is truly magnificent. We ordered the porterhouse for 2 and the cowboy ribeye. Highly recommend the cowboy ribeye along with the bernaise sauce and horseradish cream. We also ordered the thick cut bacon, Caesar salad, shrimp cocktail, cream spinach, truffle Fries and Mac n cheese. Thought the thick cut bacon was too fatty, but everything else was very good. Def not the best fries but solid nonetheless. Would definitely recommend and will be going back

I'd say we were successful in that regard, and this is probably one of the top two places I've been now in town, along with Garlic Rose. Even if you didn't have access to the menu, this just LOOKS like an upper-class steakhouse - lots of darker interior colors with deliberate use of lighting almost like the aisles in a movie theater. We did the responsible thing and made 6:30pm reservations, though the restaurant was relatively empty when we first got there (it filled up for sure during our dinner). We were immediately seated and attended to, which was a pleasant recurring theme for our experience. On the booze front, we each got an Old Fashioned, which was specifically cited on the cocktail menu, and a bottle of Daou Cab Sauvignon to share (I let my chum take the lead on that selection, which I think was influenced by the strong reviews on the Vivino app - a recommend if you're into that sort of thing). The Old-Fashioned was decent; I'm always pleased when the de facto bourbon is Angel's Envy. I'm not crazy about vermouth, which I always think gives off shoe leather vibes, but I did like the smoky profile on this one. Not bad at all, but I liked the bottle of wine better. We decided to split the Grilled Octopus app, which came with seasoned potatoes, olives and tomatoes. This was arguably the weakest part of the meal. The octopus was a little tough/rubbery and the accompanying potatoes to me were very much needed and better, frankly, than the designated star of the show here. I'm not an olive person but my chum's comment there was they were too overwhelming, taste-wise. Noted. We also got a side of parmesan truffle garlic steak fries, which I didn't have too many of because I was distracted by all of the other options on the table, but would totally get again. For entrees, it felt morally proper to hit up the cattle (when in Rome). I went with the Braised Short Ribs, which is one of my go-tos if it's on the menu. Pretty good - VERY tender and literally falling off the bone. I'd say about 20% of it was too fatty for me, and I pawned that section off on my chum, but the other 80% was primo. She got the Filet Mignon Oscar style (which my computer wanted to autocorrect to Oscars, thinking it was the umpteenth time I was typing something about the Academy Awards), and was very pleased by it. Not mindblowingly amazing but solidly above average across the board. I'm not sure why we ordered dessert at this point other than to ensure I had something else to munch on the following day, but we did that too. I got the Cheesecake w/ Marionberry Compote. This was just okay for me. Taste-wise, the cheesecake seemed a little off for my palate; maybe a little too tart? It didn't seem as milky as other cheesecakes, which doesn't necessarily mean it was bad, but wasn't my kind of cheesecake. The compote was also just okay, both in the moment and as a leftover the following day. Maybe I'm just used to getting this dessert with strawberries and compotes that are similar to that type of fruit, but I just didn't think the compote and cake meshed as well. Debatable though. There's room for improvement but this is a strong entry in the Cranford gastro scene, such as it is.

Staff is very professional and friendly, always making sure everyone is having a good time. Honestly, all the food is great here but some of my favorites are definitely the carpaccio and calamari appetizer (the calamari is the BEST I ever had, hands down) and their coffee panacota for dessert is also out of this world, just amazing! For appetizers, we got zucchini chips, fried calamari and mussels. The calamari was fried too hard and it had a very salty, spicy Chilean type sauce over it. The zucchini chips were thinly sliced, lightly battered with Parmesan cheese sprinkled over them. They were decent but nothing to write home about. In fact, after having about six or seven of the zucchini chips I began to experience heartburn from the grease. For entrees, my husband had the chicken parm. He said it was too thick and should have been flattened more before frying. It was also very breaded. My brother-in-law ordered the chicken and waffles and he said the chicken tasted day old so after having a bite of one piece of the chicken he pushed the chicken aside and called it a day. I called the waiter over and informed him about the chicken tasting day old. He didn't try to change it out or take it off the bill or get a manager. He just apologized by saying I'm sorry. My crab Mac and Cheese was decent. It wasn't seasoned the way I would have liked but the huge, plentiful chunks of crab made up for that. I ate a third of my dish and packed the rest for home where I will doctor it up to my taste. I've never been to this particular restaurant before. The only reason we came today is because my brother-in-law was here on business and staying at a hotel in the area.
