My wife and I have been here 5x in the last 3 months and have never been disappointed. Expect a long wait around the weekend dinner rush, the restaurant does not have a lot of seats. Downtown Hudson is a very underrated gem. Agave is one of our favorite places to hit up in Hudson. The food is very good and a large menu. There is likely something for everyone. The prices are good and the portions are large. I love the atmosphere here. It is three levels with the top level being more of a sports bar kind of feel. The first two floors are more for dinner, drinks and talking. They have really good drink specials and during this time cannot be beat in the area. Love the happy hour drink prices! $3, can't beat it! The happy hour food menu is also really good. We sat in the bar on a late Friday afternoon and the place was busy. We were greeted by Jennifer and she was an awesome cocktail server! Drinks were very quick to come out, Jennifer was extremely friendly and helpful and very patient. Never felt rushed even though the place was busy. Why not 5 stars? Our modified nacho order had so many upcharges, it went from $7.50 to $13!!! Way too expensive for what we got. We removed the meat and normal cheese and subbed out beans and goat cheese. And all the small sides of salsa and guac (to-go ramkin size) were upcharged. We don't know who sets the upcharges and definitely did not let this affect Jennifer's tip. My husband and I were shocked by the final cost of the nachos, however. Check this place out, it's awesome!!! Would not even give Agave one star if it were an option. Chose this restaurant for our anniversary and we haven't been out much so we're pretty excited to be out and about. Ordered Nola fries and they were very cold. Waitress said they would have to remake but was very short with us, so we just ate then cold-Yuk!!! Then we ordered Filet Mignon sliders which were so tough we couldn't eat them. My husband demanded they take this item off our bill. Again the waitress was very rude with us. I can't get on board with the modern Agave Kitchen. Maybe it's because I was a massive fan of Idaho Chuck's. Or loved Agave for...the first year or two after opening. At any rate, some things have stayed the same over time, like how amazing the pork nachos are and the portabella mushroom fries. However, the house margarita used to be killer and fresh. Now it just reeks of cheap JERO sour mix. Their featured drinks are still to die for, but the wine list has gotten a little stale, a little safe, a little too commercial. My girlfriend and I go to Agave all the time. It's our go-to date night restaurant. The service is always great, fast, and friendly with servers that care about your requests. They also have, hands down, the BEST cheese curds I've EVER had in Wisconsin. We never go there without ordering those as our appetizer. Their burgers and tacos are some of the best as well! Always very tasty food and reasonably priced. My 3 stars is due to the fact that this used to be a great place to watch a Packer game. Upstairs is a bar environment for adults. Downstairs is the restaurant. We've watched the game in the restaurant the last two years with our kids - but this year they decided no sound for the game on the first floor. Why? So a group of 4 of us went here Friday night, April, 16,2021 at 6:00 PM for dinner, my wife and her girlfreind's go here often during afternoon of target practice at Bills. Hostess said it would be 45 minute wait, let her know my wife is semi handicapped (ankle surgery) so we want to be on 1st floor. We left for another tavern (Hudson Tap) down the street to wait since the hostess said their was no room at their bar for us. Got our drinks at Hudson Tap and Agave hostess calls saying your table is ready 5 minutes after we sat down at the other place. My wife reminds her she said 45 minutes not 10 minutes or we would have waited there. Hostess informs us if we don't come over now we will be placed on bottom of list. We said we were having a drink and could be back in appprox. 1/2 hour. When we got back the hostess brought us up to the 3rd floor for seating even though I asked again about open tables that were visible on first floor. Dinner was cold but OK , specialty drinks were watered down, left server 100.00 bill for 76.00 tab. Lady behind us leaving fell into us going down the stairs and about knocked my wife over on the stairs. Let manager know as leaving neither myself or anyone in our party would ever be coming back to your establishment because of the way we were treated. She wanted to argue with me rather than accommodate us as customers. Not a good experience here. read more

We hadn't been back to Agave in about 9 months since moving to the West side of the Cities, and we were SO looking forward to it! We used to go frequently a year/year and half ago...always had GREAT service, even commented to the ownership once or twice 'back in the day', and the deals were ROCKIN' for Happy Hour. Well, the service was still great, our waitress was more than happy to bring our ice-cold fries back for fresh ones, and she probably knew that my 'date' shouldn't have a drink, because her cocktail was mixed without any alcohol... Oh my Gave. Love this place. The only seats were available were upstairs. They aren't too steep either. We started off with an excellent guacamole and chips, loaded with tomatoes. I was in the mood for a burger, which was part of the hh menu. As soon as I bit into it, I knew it was angus beef. I added some ketchup and mustard, and it almost ruined it. This burger needs nothing. Basil had a salad which came with a loredo ranch, on the spicy side and although delicious, it should be strictly for veggie dipping, not for a salad. He got the mahi mahi dinner, said it was one of the best broiled fish he's had. However I didn't get to try it because one bite could have taken away half the fish. It was the most ridiculously skimpy piece I've ever seen. Laughable and insulting at the same time. Excellent sauteed veggies came with it. The fries are homemade too. Good service from Shawnee. Me and a friend came to agave on a Sunday night to get good food (in our opinion agave has the best food in Hudson) we got our food (2 orders of pork sliders and 1 order of chicken sliders) and had a couple drinks.. when it came time to settle our bill we split it and got charged with 4 orders of pork sliders and 2 orders of chicken sliders. I asked our bartender (Sasha) why we were charged for extra food and she responded with "i could just give you your bill and kick you out!" Been here twice now; the first time out of curiosity after just moving to the area and the second with a deal from Groupon that I felt obligated to use... Both times the service has been less than desirable. I have never been greeted at or near the door. I have sat at the bar for a full 15 minutes without being offered a drink. I have gone an entire visit without being offered a menu (two people, one menu that was borrowed from someone else and shared through the meal). The first time around the food and drink in itself was very good. Fish tacos, an appetizer of some sort (memory does not serve me well), and a couple specialty drinks made a pleasurable meal after getting around to being "served". I'll admit, they were mildly busy. But the bartender not giving the slightest acknowledgment, many (more than 6) employees walking past without a glance while I stood in the doorway, and somewhere in the vicinity of 20 minutes without introduction after being seated; I was slightly irritated. Again, the food was great. I am not one for rash, ultimative decisions. I tried it again. This time with a deal, cost me $15 for $30 worth of items. Round two... Service was still borderline terrible. I counted 7 times that the bartender decided to mingle with the patron adjacent to me (a fellow employee from what I could piece together) and quite some time before s/he realized: "oh, you don't have a drink, let's get you one...". It was at that precise moment that the hostess wanted to seat us, after a 15 minute wait. A bit of confusion but a drink and table nonetheless. Seated, got one menu to share, wait staff nowhere to be found. Not "s/he's busy over there with a couple tables" missing. More like, "I wonder if s/he's been abducted by aliens" missing. *POOF* Salad appears from another employee, sans silverware. The main course was ready and our assigned wait staff appeared with it, at his/her convenience. Was slightly cold, over seasoned, and overall just OK this visit. I am sorry I did not have a better experience. I had high hopes and was excited for frequenting this establishment when I first discovered it because of both the style and crowd. I really wanted to write a positive review. The food was very good - we both had the shrimp tacos; nicely prepared with rice and black beans. The bartender was attentive through our meal (we sat at the bar) and service was relatively fast considering it was a weekday. Aside from the hostess lurking at the end of the bar staring at guests and singing quietly to the muzak (which was a little awkward) the overall ambiance was good. Things changed when we got the check. We chose Agave because we got a Restaurant.com gift certificate as a gift - we drove from Saint Paul to Hudson use it. For those not familiar with Restaurant.com, gift cheques purchased don't have an expiration date and any limitations imposed by the restaurant are clearly outlined on the certificate so expectations are pretty set beforehand. Since none were listed, we naturally assumed that we wouldn't have any problems. Alas, that was not the case. The bartender's tone distinctly changed when we indicated toward the end of our meal that we intended on using our Restaurant.com. Armed with a defensive tone, she told us that "even though your certificate doesn't have an expiration date, we don't honor them after a year." We had to rope in a manager to address the issue, who again reaffirmed that because of a lawsuit between them and restaurant.com (???) they made the choice not to honor certificates past 12 months. We had to do the equivalent of arm-twisting to get them to take it, and even then we were told that the wine we ordered changed from discount to retail price because of the coupon (which isn't kosher either, since restaurant.com coupons always disclaim alcohol if it's not eligible for the discount.) The thing is, I get it - if you stop taking coupons, that's fine. But if you issue coupons and stop, with some still outstanding, you have to honor them, no matter what your issues are. If you're in a lawsuit with restaurant.com, that's not my issue...and it shouldn't come into play when I'm paying for my meal. Good customer service can sometimes be just as valuable as good food. read more

We tried Agave because my wife met someone who mentioned his daughter worked there and we were glad we did. The food is very good and so are the happy hour specials. There are three floors so you can pick your ambiance, even with a view of the kitchen if you like. So far I've had the Lobster Louie, the chips and Guacamole, and Southern Burger all have been very good, the chips could use more salt but someone might say the opposite. My daughter and I stopped for lunch today. Despite being busy mid afternoon, we were seated right away. I've always liked this place but today the food was outstanding. I had the steak street tacos with fresh cilantro and chimichurri sauce. Delicious and fresh. My daughter had the pulled pork sandwich and literally moaned when she first bit into it. We looked for a place to eat in Hudson while returning home from Minneapolis, and found Agave Kitchen. We are vegetarians. Called ahead and person who answered enthusiastically said they could meet our needs. Server (Alex) did the same and checked with kitchen about any specials of the day for veggies. AK has an outstanding bean/veg burger. They did special seared vegetables for us as a side. Service and atmosphere were great. Menu in general looked great from a selection and depth standpoint. Food is alright. Nothing to special. For me it all sort of tastes the same. Draft beers are usually basic ones. I am always able to find one I like though. My real issue with the place is the service. Other than Nicole at the bar, service is horrendous. Always made to feel rushed. I understand server want more tables for more money. However when I'm presented the bill before I ask for it, makes me feel that they are finished with me. Overall this place is very unfriendly. Hudson is a great place, but The Agave seems out of place with their nose in the air attitude towards me. Felt the same thing about Idaho Chucks also. Spendy for what I receive. read more

I have been going to Agave for several years. Recently something has changed as my impression of the establishment. In the past service was great, food was very good, and prices were reasonable. Last night I was there with a half dozen people. The food ranged from terrible to adequate. The service was terrible. The waitress took 15 minutes before she welcomed us and asked if we wanted drinks. Then another wait for 13 minutes to get the drinks. Then she returned after 40 minutes and asked if we wanted to order. Yes, we would have liked to order, 20 minutes ago! The food came in 30 minutes. When we were done it took her 20 minutes to give us our bill and then once we had given her our credit cards, we waited another 15 minutes. They have a new menu but not much new in terms of food. The prices have increased considerably and I would now label this an overpriced establishment. I paid $22 for a a taco and a vodka martini. They must have been half a shot of vodka in the drink. Will not return to Agave until they make some changes. read more
