On June 20th, Saturday, arrived at Agave & Rye to celebrate a birthday and put our name in for a table at 7:20 pm. We were told it would be around a 30-35 minute wait. At 7:55, our party of five was seated. Our server was great, she promptly got our drinks and chips & dip order. Then a short time later she took our food order; it was probably around 8:15-8: 25. Over an hour later, we still had not been served our dinner. I finally stopped the manager who was going around to various tables and advised him our food had been ordered (at this point) almost 1 1/2 hours ago. The manager stated he would look into this, that he would come back to our table and provide an update and would also discount our order due to the extended wait time. Shortly after this, our food was finally brought out by our server. However, the manager never came back. He never came back to let us know what happened and never checked on us. When it came time for us to get our bills, there was no discount either. The server was super nice, and took our checks back and had the manager add the discount. The main thing is, the restaurant wasn't even full. At least 1/3 of the tables were empty, there were quite a few people waiting for a table outside, as we had stepped out a few times during our wait and spoke with people who were waiting to be seated for over an hour. I did hear the hostess advising people that they were very short-staffed, which would explain why there were so many empty tables. But the manager should have at the very least come back to speak with our table and maybe also jumped in to help in the kitchen or elsewhere to get things moving. Hi! We went there my fiancés birthday and the vegetarian tacos were actually quite delicious! The service was wonderful as we sat at the bar but the margarita was premade so it was too sugary and so incredibly sour. I've been here twice once to eat and once for strawberry margaritas. I do like the frozen margs it's a perfect pair the guacamole, queso a salsa trio! Go for it! But, my big however is that for 3 small Gangsta tacos, 1 burrito and two cocktails, with tip the bill was almost $100. The cocktails are expensive $15 each in a short glass. The food was good and reasonably priced. I now know why half price drinks on Mondays is so popular. We went to the restaurant on a Wednesday. So, in my opinion the management needs to make a decision to either double the size of the cocktails, reduce the prices, or double the size of the food. Right now. Very interesting mix of eccentric tacos. I do like the fact that you can get a flight and mix and match any type of tacos for a three taco plate. When eating here please be aware that a "taco" isn't like any other taco you have. The flavors will be munch mixed up as they have taco flavors such as a big Mac type taco. This ended up being a pretty good evening. I did not know there was a location all the way out here in Hamilton. I'll be honest the ambiance of this place was really cool! Really going for something unique that they don't have it a lot of their other locations. Service was great from Megan and we are always just here for the food for the most part. All of the tacos are amazing but I think I have three favorites. The alderman, the crab and lobster one, and the one with the mac and cheese in it. My son took me here for lunch. The ambiance is typical day of the dead. Our server seated us & took our drink order immediately while we perused the menu. I ordered the Alderman taco & OG corn fritters. My son got quesabirria tacos. Our order came out in about 10 minutes. I've gotten the corn fritters before & I'm pretty sure they were served over a bed of elote corn. The corn fritters were delicious but definitely missing the elote corn that rounded off the dish nicely. My son enjoyed his tacos. Our bill shows a "merchant fee" of $1.07 & that is just tacky! Stopped in on a beautiful Saturday night. This place was packed. Great space, I love the open airiness of it. We sat at the bar. It took a while to get a drink, but the bartender was apologetic, so that acknowledgement helped. The menu was different the Liberty Center one. I had a veggie quesadillas and added the herbed grilled chicken. It was a lot of food, so I had half the next day. Definitely will be back, maybe after the hype dies down. read more

The menu is loaded with atypical Mexican options, most notably the tacos that are huge and loaded with all sorts of crazy ingredients. Everything is packed with flavor, but know that things do tend towards the spicier side. The service was attentive, and even though the restaurant was packed we got out food in a reasonable amount of time. The atmosphere was great per the usual Agave & Rye theme. Our server was Jason, he was very personable and seamed to enjoy his job. He did a great job! I had a Taco flight with the Snitch, Alderman and my favorite, the Gangsta. All three were delicious. My wife had the Islander which Jason warned her about the sauce being spicy and recommended on the side, which she was glad it was in the side...way too spicy! The menu failed to mention that. My wife still loved the taco. My daughter had the chopped salad and it was also good. We all shared an order of the Corn Fritters, also delicious. If they were to put the same effort into food quality as they do on decor they could have a decent dish..... where to start; I had the Birria tacos and it was a complete disaster, the meat used for the Birria clearly is not the one is supposed to be, the tacos were just a sea of bad quality cheese and 4 strips of meat, my wife's tacos were simply filled with rice and two strips of chicken, the guac & chips are absolutely disastrous, the guac was sour and clearly not fresh..... I am incredibly picky about my Mexican food and this is some of the best. You can build your own taco flight and wowzers they are amazing!! The fajita is out of this world. The tots were incredible and the egg rolls were so interesting.
