He installed rubber mat flooring and built containment boards for my stall so the shavings would stay put. Now I don't have to worry about my horse standing in mud when it rains. In addition, Lalo and Rafael, are super helpful and friendly, and are always willing to give any assistance I need. The ever vigilant Butch is a very knowledgeable steward of the herd he manages, and will be the first to notice if your horse is sick. The barn culture is very relaxed and positive and you will feel supported by all the other boarders there. It truly is a loving community of horse lovers. I'm currently working with trainer Sandra, who is skilled and kind. She is really helping my horse become calmer and better every day she works with him. I'm so so happy to have found my happy place at Peacock Hill Ranch.

We rode here for a birthday in 2024. I would not say these horses are for beginners - this was not…read morea safe or enjoyable ride. The horse I rode jumped from my leg brushing his belly, so I had to float my legs off his body the entire time. I'm not sure he was well enough to ride that day if his belly was that tender. The other horses did not get along and fought while on the trail. This led to one horse spooking/attacking another and caused my friend to fall. She had difficulty walking, but was asked to get back on the horse despite laying on the floor in pain. After she couldn't get on, we thought the guide would call for help. But we found out later that the guide simply called her coworker and told them she'd be late for her next ride. Are you kidding me? Someone gets hurt and your first thought is your next paycheck? Our friend had to continue on foot since the guide told us we could not get off to help her. I don't think she would've made it all the way. We were lucky to run into fire authorities that gave her a ride. The authorities clarified they were NOT contacted by the guide and they were there for a separate event. We took our friend to the ER ourselves to get a spinal scan which thankfully turned out with bruising only. Afterwards, we were not offered a refund. We get it, horses have bad days and are unpredictable. But there is no excuse for having a guide that is so severely untrained and unempathetic. In a real emergency, you do not want to be caught in the middle of a nowhere with no signal and a "guide" that doesn't even know how to call for help or care about you. She just sounded like she wanted it over with. Really horrified and disappointed by the negligence here.

The worst place I've ever boarded a horse…read more If you're just coming for the Friday events, fine. But if you genuinely care about your horse's well-being, I would never recommend boarding here. The majority of the boarders act like they're playing cowgirl instead of actually knowing horses. People will walk into your stall and mess with your horse while you're gone, always with some excuse for why they thought it was acceptable. Ever since the new owners took over, the quality has gone downhill. Horses are being fed significantly less than they used to be, yet boarding fees continue to increase. Charging around $700 a month for what this facility offers is absurd. The property itself is basically a dusty desert--very little shade, no grass, and dirt stalls that aren't even level. Because the stalls are dirt, urine soaks into the ground and the smell is absolutely unbearable. Horses constantly seem to be coughing, and colic has been an ongoing concern. They also don't require new horses to quarantine before joining the barn because there isn't even a designated quarantine area. A few months ago, everyone was told to keep their horses stalled for seven days after someone brought a sick horse onto the property, yet some entitled boarders ignored the rules and used the turnout anyway, putting everyone else's horses at risk. There also seemed to be an unusual number of horses ending up with unexplained cuts and injuries. The only people there who consistently showed common sense and genuinely seemed to care about the horses were Summer and Mariah. Instead of focusing on horse care, the atmosphere often feels centered around the "cowgirl" Instagram aesthetic. It's more about appearances than horsemanship. To make matters worse, the ranch frequently hosts birthday parties and unrelated events. If you drive a long distance to ride your horse, don't be surprised if you can't even find parking when you arrive. If you're looking for a place to board, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. Hansen Dam is just down the road and, in my experience, offers a much better environment, with actual horse people, shade, better care, and far less drama.

I was in the hospital for five days, and had to find a safe haven for him in a hurry. I found La Tuna Stables and it's been so wonderful that I'm staying. It's so much more serene here. A wonderful retreat for horses and humans. There is a riding ring and lots of trails nearby to be enjoyed. The owner Sheila is very caring and completely took over care of my horse while I was recuperating, and still helps me a lot for a fee. My horse is very happy in his huge stall and another bonus is that we have a beautiful sunset every night! The way the property is located, lends it self to beautiful sunsets. I work full-time so it's nice to know that he is well taken care of and when I visit him, he seems content.
