The horse I rode jumped from my leg brushing his belly, so I had to float my legs off his body the entire time. I'm not sure he was well enough to ride that day if his belly was that tender. The other horses did not get along and fought while on the trail. This led to one horse spooking/attacking another and caused my friend to fall. She had difficulty walking, but was asked to get back on the horse despite laying on the floor in pain. After she couldn't get on, we thought the guide would call for help. But we found out later that the guide simply called her coworker and told them she'd be late for her next ride. Are you kidding me? Someone gets hurt and your first thought is your next paycheck? Our friend had to continue on foot since the guide told us we could not get off to help her. I don't think she would've made it all the way. We were lucky to run into fire authorities that gave her a ride. The authorities clarified they were NOT contacted by the guide and they were there for a separate event. We took our friend to the ER ourselves to get a spinal scan which thankfully turned out with bruising only. Afterwards, we were not offered a refund. We get it, horses have bad days and are unpredictable. But there is no excuse for having a guide that is so severely untrained and unempathetic. In a real emergency, you do not want to be caught in the middle of a nowhere with no signal and a "guide" that doesn't even know how to call for help or care about you. She just sounded like she wanted it over with. Really horrified and disappointed by the negligence here.

What stood out most to me was how much Johnny truly cared about both the horses and their owners. He values open communication and encourages boarders to come to him with concerns so he can help work through situations and find solutions. When my horse and I were having trouble adjusting to pasture boarding, he was understanding and worked with us to find a setup that better suited my horse's needs. That level of care and flexibility meant a lot to me. It's rare to find a place where you feel genuinely supported, and I'm very grateful for the care and consideration we received here. I would absolutely recommend this ranch to anyone looking for a positive and caring boarding environment.

Coming back felt like coming home. During those six years, she learned tremendously and won numerous Horsemanship and Western Pleasure awards. Everything she knows today about horses was taught from the very beginning--starting with proper horse care, respect, and responsibility, all the way through riding skills and confidence in the saddle. Johnny and everyone at the ranch are incredibly kind, welcoming, and supportive. They truly treat you like family, and from day one you feel at peace, surrounded by horses and amazing people. This is more than just a riding center it's a place full of heart, knowledge, and love for horses. I drive 2.5 hours to get here, and it is absolutely worth every mile. I highly recommend anyone considering riding or learning about horses to come here. You won't regret it. This has been an amazing place since day one.

It has American, Mexican and Ethiopian food, so there is something for everyone :) I started with the Sambusa with beef and really liked it! The waitress recommended us to eat it with salsa from their salsa bar and it paired perfectly. It was a little oily but great flavor regardless! I also got the Awaze tips with Injera and beef. The injera was a spongey tortilla/bread like carb that was covered with a beef/veggies mixture. We were able to adjust the spice level on this since the waitress warned us the dishes were very spicy but to be honest, it wasn't spicy at all and I would like to try the other dishes with spice next time. The Awaze tips dish was really good and pretty big portion. Excellent service and food! I would love to come back to try more.

I loved the owner's story that led to their decision to feature Ethiopian, Mexican, and American menu items. The ambiance is definitely nostalgic of the restaurant that came before it, which added to the charm. I tried their chickpea stew with injera, and was a huge fan. The service was very friendly as well. I overheard the staff talking in the back about how they were getting noticed on social media, so it warms my heart to see great restaurants get the promotion they deserve. Will be back the next time I'm in the area!

There is a current deal on a 45 min riding course for $25 either on their Yelp page or Living Social. In theory, 45 minutes is not much time; however, that wasn't the case on the Sunday I went. I really enjoyed the experience! Natalie was my instructor. She is such a sweetheart! She was very friendly and very knowledgeable. She's been only riding for a year or so but she could have fooled me. She instructed very well and was great with Lucky (the horse I rode). My original appointment was the Sunday prior; however, I had to cancel because of a sickness. Natalie was very understanding and I was able to book my actual appointment with ease. The school is located on a large property that also provides space for other riding schools. There were 4 - 5 arenas that I was able to remember, there possibly could be more. Its a great community and the property is well maintained and clean, BUT do watch out for the occasional horse poop that are in large piles. The drive was not difficult at all. The freeways were empty since my appointment was at 12am. Their parking lot is very large with plenty of parking space! Parking is free! Tip: - The HDRS Office is on the far right just from the gate! DO NOT drive all the way to the back of the lot. - Wear boots with a heel. - DO NOT wear shorts! Overall, I had an amazing experience. I definitely want to ride again, maybe another course and/or just to ride on a scenic trail!
