My 3rd yr old with horse, Jeanie!

I booked a private lesson with Johnny for my 3 yr old son on his birthday. My son has been obsessed with horses for a year now. The therapy horses are great with little kids, and my son had many opportunities to do things by himself, which surprised me given the difference in size between the horse and my son. My son was beaming with happiness and he can't wait to go back for more lessons. I also recently had my 3 yr old son's birthday at the equestrian center. Before I get into how great the center is, I want to say it was a profound struggle to find a place that would do a party for kids under 7 yrs old. Luckily through many calls to private stables around the LA Equestrian Center, I was referred to Shadow Hills Equestrian. When I called and spoke to Tina, I felt very fortunate to have found them... not only because they could accommodate my age requirements, but also because they have a therapeutic program that helps disabled children. It was a win win. Johnny and Tina were very helpful in accommodating my specific party requests. On the day of I was shocked to have volunteers coming up to me left and right to help me unload my car, decorate, and stage things for my party. All of the party activities (horse riding, petting zoo, horse painting!) went smoothly and the volunteers did a great job working with my 2 - 6 yr old age group of kids. At the end, I was told by many parents it was a great party, and I think that has a lot to do with the owners and volunteers at this center. They are extremely nice and obviously love what they do. It was a great experience all around. I'm secretly wishing my son's obsession with horses continues so I can have several more parties there!

Alix on her favorite horse Jeannie.

Johnny's work with wounded creatures, two and four legged, is richly divine. Thanks for all you do, Johnny H. I respect and admire you so.

Her posture was getting bad and we decided to have her try riding. My older daughter rode with Sheri and Duncan years ago and I remember how great they were. I called and talked to Sheri, told her everything going on and she said she would love to start my granddaughter. We started with the summer camp and now do weekly lessons. We can't believe the improvement in attitude, posture, priority and confidence. It feels good to go back after so many years and find the same integrity, love and care, plus the greatest groom in Southern CA. The facility is wonderful and more important than anything, everyone is great, kids, parents, trainers and neighbors. My granddaughter misses Summer Camp and is excited for next year. She learned how to completely groom her horse, even clean up her tack. She met a new friend and they got to ride together today. All I can say is thank you Edmonton Farms, Sheri, Duncan, little Cleo and Rachel, Jorge and the best pony ever, Penny. They have wonderful horses to ride, all well trained with great ground manners. If the highest score I could give is a 10, they would still get 100 from me.

He teaches with enthusiasm and is so encouraging. Throughout her lesson I can hear him yelling,"Excellent!!" We have had trainers that yelled and screamed and made her cry. Here she is encouraged and consequently looks forward to her lesson. So much so that we drive all the way from South Orange County to train here. Additionally, the horses that he has for her to ride are amazing! They are expensive, premium horses. Some trainers have lesson horses that are ancient or of low quality. We highly recommend Edmonton Farms. They specialize in teaching to the level of their students whether you are a beginner or an advanced rider, they will form a program for you.

Cathy is an amazing trainer!!!…read more I have been training with Cathy for several months now and I love her technique and ability to train! She understands my level and finds ways that make it easy for me to learn. She will give you rules of the game while you are cooling down the horses, or tacking them up and just through normal conversation that I do not realize how much information I have actually obtained till I go home and start talking about Polo to my friends and realize I know more about it than I thought!! I came from a jumping barn where I owned a barn sour horse that was nothing but issues (Rearing, bolting, ect... her name was Lucy Lohan just because she was so crazy!) While most trainers believed that the only resolution to the problem was drugging, Cathy is more about fixing the problems with schooling and proper training! Although I have gotten rid of her, I am still a bit jaded from the experience, but Cathy is so patient that she teaches me techniques I can use for the next time I encounter those vices, and was not mad when I stated that I just wanted to start from the ground up again on my horsemanship! Her horses are also to die for!!! I have honestly never ridden a lesson horses that were so kind and gentle I would trust my non horse friends on them! They all have experience on the polo field, but you can tell they totally enjoy the beginner's lessons. The only vice I have seen with these horses is their addiction to carrots!
