During the lesson trainers were on their phones or talking to each other under the trees. Some instructors would start late and end early. The trainers and people at the front desk make no effort to know your name. It's a high quantity low quality stable. While this didn't impact me personally, some of the trainers were really mean to the kids. On a positive note, the horses are great for beginners and if you find the right trainer they can get you up and running quickly. They also offer therapeutic rides to special needs and they often host kids parties.

Her posture was getting bad and we decided to have her try riding. My older daughter rode with Sheri and Duncan years ago and I remember how great they were. I called and talked to Sheri, told her everything going on and she said she would love to start my granddaughter. We started with the summer camp and now do weekly lessons. We can't believe the improvement in attitude, posture, priority and confidence. It feels good to go back after so many years and find the same integrity, love and care, plus the greatest groom in Southern CA. The facility is wonderful and more important than anything, everyone is great, kids, parents, trainers and neighbors. My granddaughter misses Summer Camp and is excited for next year. She learned how to completely groom her horse, even clean up her tack. She met a new friend and they got to ride together today. All I can say is thank you Edmonton Farms, Sheri, Duncan, little Cleo and Rachel, Jorge and the best pony ever, Penny. They have wonderful horses to ride, all well trained with great ground manners. He teaches with enthusiasm and is so encouraging. Throughout her lesson I can hear him yelling,"Excellent!!" We have had trainers that yelled and screamed and made her cry. Here she is encouraged and consequently looks forward to her lesson. So much so that we drive all the way from South Orange County to train here. Additionally, the horses that he has for her to ride are amazing! They are expensive, premium horses. Some trainers have lesson horses that are ancient or of low quality. We highly recommend Edmonton Farms. They specialize in teaching to the level of their students whether you are a beginner or an advanced rider, they will form a program for you.

If you expect things to move rapidly, that won't happen. If you are a knowledgeable, hands on type of horse owner, this barn will work well for you. The effort to have good alfalfa, cereal hay, and grass hay is to her credit. She does the "rounds" during the day, and usually once in the late evening. When things go wrong, she probably won't mention it, so you have to stay on top of things. Her prices are reasonable. There is one medium size ring on the premises. She has a jumping ring just around the corner. There is a large public arena next to it. They are pulled and watered about 2 x week. Is this a great barn with great atmosphere, NO! There are several very decent horse owners, who care for their animals. They are nice people, and, the access to the park is good.

There are 3 arenas we have access to, turn out, hot walker and access to Griffith Park. It is not "clicky". We have a really nice bunch of horse women there, which is not always found. I wouldn't recommend this business at all. From the beginning, we weren't given much instruction…read morenor were we given helmets (not even the option for helmets). The man who helped us at the front came to tell us simple instructions like left, right, and stop. I was with two other friends and the other group was a mother and her three children. That's seven people in total and we had only ONE guide who stayed in the back. There should've been at least two guides. As we crossed a bridge that only allowed one horse to fit, my friend's horse ran down the small hill, which is normal. However, since the guide was in the back and my friend was in the front, she was unaware there would be more movement from the horse and was unable to tame the horse. Her horse went running down and she fell off onto the hard floor. Everyone stopped and the guide kept telling her to get up slowly when she kept saying she couldn't because it hurt too much. He was constantly holding out his hand to get her up without actively helping her or checking on her. For that many people, there should have been more than one guide. Not only that, he should have been IN FRONT of the group, crossing the bridge first, to help us through the dip. This was extremely irresponsible on their end and all we got was a sorry (from a woman who we didn't even see at the ranch!) and a refund. We took my friend to the ER where she's getting x-rays and getting checked for a concussion. There shouldn't be any excuse just because we signed a waiver and we should have been offered helmets.

I was in the hospital for five days, and had to find a safe haven for him in a hurry. I found La Tuna Stables and it's been so wonderful that I'm staying. It's so much more serene here. A wonderful retreat for horses and humans. There is a riding ring and lots of trails nearby to be enjoyed. The owner Sheila is very caring and completely took over care of my horse while I was recuperating, and still helps me a lot for a fee. My horse is very happy in his huge stall and another bonus is that we have a beautiful sunset every night! The way the property is located, lends it self to beautiful sunsets. I work full-time so it's nice to know that he is well taken care of and when I visit him, he seems content. I would highly recommend La Tuna stables for drama free people who want the best for their horse!!
