Went 2x this year ..once w/my gf other time w/my daughter & mom...had a great time both! Humberto was our guide, he was experienced & friendly. Only did the 1 hr ride for $50 ...that was enough for me..maybe I'll do the longer ride next time, I heard it's nice higher up the mountain.

While hiking in Griffith Park area I noticed many tours of horseback riding groups and it sparkled my interest. Why not try it? Living in the pandemic made me wanna try new things especially in the area. Live a little. So I started to research and found a few companies with stables right outside Griffith Park. I chose Griffith Park Horse Rentals because you don't have to book in advance and it's cheaper if you pay cash, which is what I was planning to. My husband and I picked an hour guided tour ($39) since 20 min. don't seem enough and over 2 hours might be too much. This was our first time riding a horse since the childhood pony rides. On Memorial Day we went to their stables (street parking) around Noon, paid for the tour and signed up our lives on the waiver. They did ask about our experiences, we asked for older horses since we had none. Didn't notice restrooms around. You can feed horses for a $10 bucket of carrots. They also have 20 min. max tours for kids. It was a tad disorganized, they gave us instructions and they got us on the horses fast. Almost right away. My horse wanted to be ahead so it galloped ahead right away, taking me by surprise. Cesar, our guide gave me instructions and told me to calm down since the horse can feel if you are scared. Cesar was nice and helpful through the ride. The horses know their own, but you still need to guide them. It was just my husband and I in the group. Most of the time it was relaxing to ride, to look around, sometimes my horse or my husband's wanted to get ahead but we learnt that and how to get them to slow down. You pass stables, go through tunnels, over a bridge to cross LA river, see some cool birds, other riders, move onto Griffith Park, then back to the stables, it's a loop. My husband's horse, Texas, 20 year old would stop to smell branches from time to mine, my horse was hard to keep behind. Overall is fun and relaxing, a nice learning experience. We asked for a photo at the end because otherwise it didn't happen, right? There were big groups in line or ready to start the tour when we got back. They do help you get on and off the horse. They could be more organized, but everyone is nice and helpful. Tip your guide, they provide your safety while you ride. The butt will hurt you for a day or two, but it will pass. I am glad I had this experience especially since we have the chance living here. A Memorial Say weekend to remember. YOLO, right?

Nice little stroll alongside the riverbed.

The last weekend before my kiddos go back to school so we decided to go on a local adventure...something they had never done before. A quick yelp search led us here, the Griffith Park Horse Rentals. A phone call gave me all the rates needed for our 2 young kids (4 and 7), prices included a cash price and a credit card price. After the phone call, they texted their address and that was a nice touch. Miguel was our guide and he made sure the kids' horses were gentle and gave a very smooth ride. Such a good first time experience for my kids. We will definitely be back for family fun.

Had a WONDERFUL time on this trail ride with Miguel as our trail leader. Wonderful conversation and very friendly! The trail was wide and very nice. We rode amongst tree lined trails with plenty of shade and open space for trotting and even cantering. I have not ridden in years and my kids even longer so it was a very nice outing to get re-acclimated on the saddle. Price $30 cash for an hour, and a few extra if paying with a credit card. No appointment necessary if looking for a basic trail ride. Staff was very friendly. Horses very manageable. Will definitely be going back here a lot more! Can't believe I waited so long to go

Came here on a Monday with my family to celebrate valentine together and it was awesome. Everyone is so friendly and the price is unbeatable. Our guides name was Jesus and he was the most patient person ever. We dropped out glasses twice and he repeatedly had to get off his horse and pick them up. Thank you Jesus por hacer nuestra experiencia unica.

Great place to rent horses from, ease of calling in reservations is a breeze!! Rates are beyond reasonable and horses are well cared for. Jesus was our guide he was fantastic knew his horses and made the entire journey fun and amazing. I did the 30 min trip would highly recommend the 1-hour trip though as 30 minutes just wasn't enough.

So excited to find this great place... Last minute hourly rental with no problem celebrated a Covid birthday at the last minute.

With nothing scheduled for the afternoon, we came across Sunset Ranch Hollywood and booked their evening 2-hour trail ride. It turned out to be the perfect way to start our trip. We ended up being the only two on the ride, which made the experience even more special. Our guide, Ashley, was knowledgeable, personable, and easy to talk to. The conversation throughout the ride made the whole experience feel relaxed and personal. The views were incredible--overlooking the Hollywood Hills, the Hollywood sign, the observatory, and even out toward Glendale. It's a perspective you just don't get any other way. We rode Apollo and Rain, and both horses were fantastic. They were calm, well-trained, and clearly knew the trail, which made the ride easy and enjoyable--even for riders who don't have a lot of experience. With just a few small corrections along the way, we felt more confident than we probably deserved. I'm sure a group ride would be fun, but having such a small, personal experience really made this memorable for us. It was a great way to kick off a special weekend, and I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

They required us to get there 30 minutes before the tour. We got there at 9:30am, but the tour did not start until 10:30am. We waited for an hour before we can get on the back of the horse. This place is pretty private. We will have to make a call at the gate, so the staff can buzz us in. Parking structure is small, and it gets full fast. Staff was not too friendly unsure if they get burnt out with the tour. The horses looked tired and some of them look sick. My horse kept its head down throughout the ride. The one hour ride is basically sitting on the back of the horse, walking up the trail that we can see the Hollywood sign, and turned around at some point. Not worth the price you pay for. I will not be back.

I have always wanted to ride a horse since I was a little kid. Something about horses and myself go hand in hand. They are powerful animals and I like power to a certain extent. Since my son knew how much I have been wanting to ride a horse, he surprised me and got 2 tickets to go to horseback riding. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the tickets. With that being said, him and I went there beginning of this year. You get to choose the duration of the time, what type of horse you want to rent, and once you get on it you also choose the speed how and what you like. As beginners, we went for slow-to medium. It was perfect for an entire hour. Tickets for both adults and kids are $50, per person. Trust me, it's so worth it!! The staff were very welcoming, accommodating, understanding, asked us if we had any previous injuries, cuts, wounds, heart condition before you sign the consent form and get on top of that poor animal that had to take us around and round. We chose to go and see different scenic sites, and it also takes you around Griffith park area. It has many different trails and we asked for ALL or nothing. Who knows when will I ever experience this wonderful pleasure again? We had a great time, it goes straight with a whole hour w/out making any stops. Get some water with you. The only downside is that they don't except any other method of payments except cash. That's ok, it didn't bother us. There is a guide that goes with you to make sure you are safe and so are the horses!! Has parking, restrooms and I am glad that we went on this journey. Hours of operation is every day from 9AM to 5pm. You can make reservations online or just simply go in person. All are welcome!! Forgot the names of our horses though. Thank you all for this WONDERFUL pleasure/experience that you have brought into our lives. Will definitely return next time I am in the mood for some horseback riding.
