Absolutely great team Lidia, Javier and Mabele were very knowledgeable, kind and great with the horses! We saw the Hollywood sign and the observatory. Horses have a great temperament and easy pace.

Gorgeous views!

Had the best time the the horse tour around the mountains of Hollywood. My son and I did the two hour tour. They have nice horses and great guides. We had Amy and she was very informative on our tour. She told us about all the foliage and also buildings we could view from our tour. The horses are well taken care of and they have safety as a priority. We had a great time riding horses around the Hollywood sign and learning about the area! Easy parking. Porto potties only. No bags allowed on tour. Wear sunscreen. I do wish our pics turned out a little better but overall just a wonderful time!

I booked this experience the day before, mainly because I wanted to see how the weather would be during the heat wave. Getting there can be a little tricky, Google Maps doesn't take you all the way up. The ranch is located past the gate at the top, and you'll need a reservation to get through. I took an Uber, but the driver wasn't familiar with the route and ended up driving a bit too close to the horses. To avoid confusion, you can always get dropped off at the gate and walk a few minutes up. I chose the one hour ride, which was perfect for me, I don't think I could have managed the full two hours physically. The horse you're paired with may vary, I had Bonnie, a lovely black mare. Some horses are more adventurous than others and might wander a little too close to the cliff edge, which was more excitement than I needed! Our guide, Cass, was fantastic, very knowledgeable, answered all our questions, and gave us a helpful introduction to the horses. She also offered to take photos and videos of us along the ride, which was a nice touch. There's even a private viewpoint for the Hollywood sign, and on the way back we got a close up look at it, which was an incredible highlight.

Amazing views and friendly guide and horses! My only complaint is that the trail is out and back, not a loop- which would be more interesting!

Great time had by all. Shout out to Clyde and Jupiter!!! Take it easy boys. Great birthday gift from a Cali slider.

This is the best place to see the horses and go horseback riding! Employees were very friendly, and so are the horses. The riders give you a safety speech and tutorial on how to ride a horse. And the horses are well trained. Beginners or advanced riders would love this ranch. Please either bring cash to tip the rider or you can Venmo them, it's the only way they make money

I came for a 2 hour horse ride. Make sure to dress comfortable and follow the instructions. It's a great view and there was perfect weather. The staff were kind.

Took my daughter today for a morning trail ride. Everything was great , friendly horses, wonderful staff . The trail was easy to ride . The guide was extremely friendly and gave us tips about what to do in town . Well worth the money . We will definitely be back .

Staff were great. They made everyone feel comfortable with level of experience on horseback. The horses were great and the views were amazing

I'm usually not much for riding horses, but today was my birthday and I decided to do something different. We did the one hour trail ride and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did, but while I was sitting on the horse, I had a silly smile plastered on my face the whole time. Wonderful just to be out in the park, enjoying the amazing views and spot of nature in the middle of a giant city. Scheduled start times can be a bit flexible so don't schedule your events around this too tightly or you might be disappointed. I counted about 100 horses here and enjoyed just seeing them hanging out. Staff was very friendly and helpful to those of us who are novices on the horse. Great experience that everyone should try at least once!

This was such an amazing experience! I think it was around $130 for both me and my girlfriend to take an hour ride up the mountain! I wouldent wanna do any longer than an hour because you most certainly will develop prostatitis if youre a man. Anyhow- the service and the views were out of this world! Definitely gonna take friends here that are visiting LA! I'm from the country so it's nice to get out of the city and be in the wild!

Sunset on the trail

Beautiful sunset ride up in the hills with spectacular views of LA and the Griffith Observatory and the mountains. Easy walking on horseback, helmets provided, just hop on and enjoy the views. The horses do all the work; but pay attention to the brief instructions if it's your first time and make sure you are comfortable and your feet fit well in the stirrups! I will probably make this a regular thing each time I'm in LA -- it is so special.

Issy was such a great guide! Loved our time with the horseback riding. Got to see beautiful views. The entrance is straight forward you just get beeped in. Parking isn't too far for a walk to the barn. Check in was easy but there is barely any signal up there. You get to explore the grounds while you wait for your slot. The guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. The horses have great temperaments. I got Maverick. He likes to eat things on the trails. Felt very safe and the ride was smooth. You get to see the Hollywood sign up there and the city where it's a bit fresher higher up. I feel like the experience was great value and I'd definitely book a ride through them again.

Do you have to wear that helmet?

If you have to ask, then you should not rent a horse. Yes, helmets are for all riders, if you think you are never going to need one, then trust me you will end up with a head injury or worse. Horses are inherently dangerous even when you're… Read more

Can my 1.5 year old ride with us?

I think riders have to be 8 years or older. It would be really hard to ride that far with a toddler unless you’re both very experienced riders who do this often.

Do you offer dressage lessons?

I've never seen anyone doing a Dressage lesson. Just English and Western.

Hello. I am looking to have a horseback riding birthday party for my daughter. Is this something your facility can accommodate? What would the price be for 10 riders? Thanks

Best to consult their website as the prices change quite a bit. I don't think they check here often to answer questions. I'd just give them a call or look online.

Is there someone taking professional photos while you ride? Some ranches offer a Photogtspher who is there the entire ride capturing pics. Do they have this service available?

Your guide will take pictures with her/his phone and send them to you or will ask for your phone if you feel comfortable with someone else using your phone. They will do their best to take pictures with a nice background and if in a group,… Read more

Do you have to know how to ride a horse to ride one?

Not at all. They teach you the basics.

I wanted to book a reservation for a 2 hour ride but it appears that I can only book for party of two. Is there a way around or must I come in person, or are you not allowing solo rides?

I'd recommend calling the ranch the day of and asking what times the two hour rides that are booked are going out. Then tell them which one you want to join so they are expecting you. Arrive a bit early just in case the other party is early. Walk… Read more

Can my 5 year old ride with me on a trail ? How do they charge for one hour ride with child?

Yes if you ride together under 240lbs is what I see on there offering sign

What are the prices?

There are two rides available: one hour and two hour. I was there recently, and the cost for two hour ride for three people was ~$220. They also encourage tipping your tour guide.

What do they charge for indoor or outdoor boarding?

$550.00 per month including feed and cleaning of stall.

I wish you could actually tour BY the Hollywood sign but they didn't take us that route for the 2hr tour.

There is free street parking on this street that we were able to find easily. We came on a Sunday morning at 9 am on a sunny day in November and no one else opted to ride at this time so it ended up being a private ride just for us. Another reviewer complained that their ride wasn't private but I don't even know if they offer actual private rides here?? If you want one your best bet would be calling to see if anyone else has booked a time slot and book one that is less likely to be popular such as weekday early morning etc. We chose to $50/person for a 1 hour approximately 3 mile ride (3.5 according to my watch). Your horse will be selected for you and I rode with Cortez who was friendly and very beginner friendly! Our guide was both English and Spanish speaking and directed us through the route, telling us which way to go but the horses are really good about already knowing the route so required reorienting them isn't very necessary. There isn't any other dialogue exchanged like info on the trails or historic info about Griffith park but both my friend and I are local to LA so we didn't mind but something to keep in mind for tourists. We did come across a pack of 3 coyotes but they didn't bother us and the horses did not get scared at all! The rental place also offers helmets (wear one!!!) for free in different sizes. It was quite sunny when we went so even though it was cooler outside we actually got really hot so I recommend dressing in layers, wearing pants you're ok with getting dirty/dusty, and boots or sneakers as well as sunglasses.

I have always wanted to ride a horse since I was a little kid. Something about horses and myself go hand in hand. They are powerful animals and I like power to a certain extent. Since my son knew how much I have been wanting to ride a horse, he surprised me and got 2 tickets to go to horseback riding. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the tickets. With that being said, him and I went there beginning of this year. You get to choose the duration of the time, what type of horse you want to rent, and once you get on it you also choose the speed how and what you like. As beginners, we went for slow-to medium. It was perfect for an entire hour. Tickets for both adults and kids are $50, per person. Trust me, it's so worth it!! The staff were very welcoming, accommodating, understanding, asked us if we had any previous injuries, cuts, wounds, heart condition before you sign the consent form and get on top of that poor animal that had to take us around and round. We chose to go and see different scenic sites, and it also takes you around Griffith park area. It has many different trails and we asked for ALL or nothing. Who knows when will I ever experience this wonderful pleasure again? We had a great time, it goes straight with a whole hour w/out making any stops. Get some water with you. The only downside is that they don't except any other method of payments except cash. That's ok, it didn't bother us. There is a guide that goes with you to make sure you are safe and so are the horses!! Has parking, restrooms and I am glad that we went on this journey. Hours of operation is every day from 9AM to 5pm. You can make reservations online or just simply go in person. All are welcome!! Forgot the names of our horses though. Thank you all for this WONDERFUL pleasure/experience that you have brought into our lives. Will definitely return next time I am in the mood for some horseback riding.

I went into it feeling somewhat intimidated since it's been so long since I've ridden, but I had a really empowering and wonderful experience for my first lesson (shout out to Courtney, who gave me lots of praise while also giving me great instruction)! Sagebrook farms is very professional with the most beautiful horses, but it's also casual in friendliness and you can have any goal ranging from casual riding to competing. My goal is to lease a horse one day for casual riding, and they take it seriously and help me achieve it! If you're wanting to learn about horse care, they also were open about me coming early or staying later to watch the tacking & grooming process and help out, which is a great opportunity to spend time with horses after lessons! There is one review here that mentions difficulty with communication, and out of about 10 riding instructors, I only got answers from about 3, so it's not just Sagebrook Farms. People who take care of horses often are out all day where there's minimal Wi-Fi, and they only get a chance to get online in sparse spurts or not until 10pm when they're at home after long days. If it's your first lesson, be prepared for about a week or two before you can nail down a lesson, especially during summer months when there's horse camps going on. I can't wait to continue my lessons here!
