We came here to celebrate my birthday and had so much fun! $50 per person, cash. I have been here once before and remember going further. This time along, it was pretty packed at 1pm on a Saturday so could be the reason as to why it felt like a shorter route. I was signed up for horseback riding by Renaissance club and I was very excited. Our group did the 1.5 hour ride through Griffith park. The time we were signed up for was 12pm, so it's the middle of the hot day. If I could do this again and sign myself up I would have chosen an earlier or a later time to avoid the peak heat of the day but despite this if you arrive with a good hat, wearing sunblock, and have some thin long sleeves to protect you, then you will feel ok. Between my hat, sunglasses, and long sleeves, I was fine, I was sweaty but there were lots of breezes to cool us off. You must sign two forms and indicate how comfortable you are riding and then you are matched with a horse (I was matched with Prince). Each horse apparently has history such as being in movies and that is fun to learn about while riding with the guide. You can tell the horses know the route by heart because they are basically taking us in the correct direction that the guide is telling us to go but the horse is already going that direction. It was cute how the horses sometimes wanted to push past each other to be in the very front and then at other times they wanted to walk together in a herd crowding us all together. The road is very dusty, I didn't think about this but if I go again another item I will bring is a mask to block the dust. I did allot of holding my breath. I do not know if Valley Fever is rampant in Griffith Park but there's allot of dust you will be inhaling so I would rather protect my lungs the next time around. The hooves and the wind are making the dust clouds fly and you are riding right through the dust. The horse's pace was a bit slow moving and I felt bad they must be so tired in the middle of the day. As we got closer to the end they began to pick up their pace a little and mine went at a short gallop which was so fun. I would love to try going faster next time! The horses are beautiful and well taken care of, and the trails are spacious enough for so many horses to travel. I definitely would love to come again during different times of day to enjoy the wilderness again! read more

We went on a one-hour trail ride at Studio Horse Rental/Circle K Riding Stables today and had an absolutely wonderful time! We arranged a time via text, and when we arrived, our horses were already tacked up and ready to go. Our guide, Eric, was fantastic with our group of first-time to intermediate riders. He was professional and friendly, and he made everyone feel welcome and at ease. Our horses were clearly well-cared for and matched well with each of us (I rode Poco, a sweet chestnut quarter horse who likes to be at the front of the pack). The trail we went on was calm and pretty, with nice views of the surrounding hills. The cherry on top was that the rate was extremely reasonable. I would definitely come back, and I'd unhesitatingly recommend this place to anyone! read more

They will pair you with the right horse, you wear the right clothes and shoes. I believe they have helmets if you need one. I cannot recommend this place enough. This was my first time horseback riding and it was PERFECT! I absolutely loved our guide, Sandra. She was so sweet, helpful, and very knowledgeable. She taught us so much about horses on our ride, and even helped me with my form when riding/trotting. It was just me, my friend, and Sandra for the trail ride so it was personal and peaceful. You can tell she really wanted us to have a good experience, especially because it was my first time. The route we took was SO beautiful, the scenic views along the Griffith Park are breathtaking, all while riding a horse was such an amazing experience. The horses are also well kept and well behaved, and you get to choose your horse based on your level/speed your comfortable with. On top of all of that, their rates are great (especially for LA). Speaking as an experienced rider/three day eventer-- this place used to be my go-to for taking friends on a trail ride in the city, but it feels like it's declined considerably. The horses seem healthy and sound, which is the most important thing, but they're absolutely filthy. It has the feel of a trail riding mill. The guides just slapped us on horses without introducing themselves or the horse, and they didn't check to see if our stirrups fit us comfortably. Our guide did very little to instruct the new riders, so the horses rubbed up against each other, biting and kicking each other. The guides seemed generally annoyed that we were there despite being a pretty easy group. I don't expect over the top customer service, but it was pretty nonexistent. Our first guide was talking on his phone the entire time. Mid-ride, another guide took over and said almost nothing to us other than, "straight, left, down" etc. Also, a safety concern-- in the past, guides here have led the way across streets to check for traffic. This time, our guide did not do so and did not even tell us to be cautious crossing the street despite bikers zipping down. Also minor detail, but they used to take your picture for you at the view points and didn't offer to this time. I don't really mind, but I'm sure others would. Really disappointed. This used to be a better place. I will now be taking friends elsewhere, possibly out near Paramount Ranch. Ways to improve: bathe your horses, introduce yourself and the horses, check that people's stirrups are fitting them, help people keep their horses apart, help people cross the street, be nice/talk to trail riders a little??? read more

Several of the horses on this tour appeared elderly and visibly exhausted. One horse refused to go up a steep section of the trail and repeatedly tried to turn back downhill. The guide had to come over, take the horse by the lead, and force him to continue up the mountain. It was distressing to watch an animal that clearly didn't want or wasn't able to continue being made to do so. Linda Gibson is extremely unprofessional and rude. When trying to resolve an issue of getting a refund after deciding not to participate in riding I was called "shady" and she hung up in my face. This woman claimed that a refund could not be issued to one individual person because of issues with payments from other people that were in the group that we came with (some people that we literally didn't even know or have contacts with). The level of unprofessionalism and lack of accountability and respect from the people running this business is truly reason enough to stay clear of this place. read more

Been coming here since I was 15.... I'm almost 50 now. Recently I took my 8 year old here to do his first trail ride. We came early to beat the heat that day. The staff paired us up with great horses, and the lady guide was very kind and attentive to my son. She made sure to always check on him and encourage him to be confident on his horse. At one point, my son was a little far behind and was getting hot and tired... some tears came down his red cheeks... our guide started cheering his name and the whole group of us joined in. It was really really touching to me. My son got his bearings, gave us all a little smile and got his confidence back. We will always come back here to ride. read more

Javier and his Curcle K horse stables is a solid 10. My 8 year old grandson, my daughter and I all road this morning for just one hour. Absolutely gorgeous scenery on the trail ride. Javier picked our horses based on our skill level and they behaved well. He is kind, patient and very experienced. Javier has ridden since he was knee high to a grasshopper. I can't speak highly enough of our fun family memory making. The rates, in this day and age, I think were more a bargain. $50 per hour per person. What can you do for $50 person these days? My Family loves Horseback riding. My son and husband mostly do the Trails, whatever the weather. I don't come unless the weather is nice and cold. This time of the year, it is perfect for me to Ride. We arrived at our Scheduled time. Setting up was easy, the Horses given to us for the ride were healthy and strong. Adults doesn't require any helmet but i think under 18 needs a helmet , not sure what exact age but my son and his friend was asked to put an Helmet while in the Trails . My son had the most Energetic Horse among the horses, his Horse liked flirting with the other horses on the trail ;) It's not my sons first Trail so any horses given to him , he can handle them well . The Trail they have is pretty nice here, I have been to this location many times and I already knew all of the Sound signal sound Guide used for the Horses ;) . I recognized the signals easily, so I knew when to hold tight to my Horse 'coz they could really run fast once they hear the signal from our Guide!!! Horseback riding is one of my Family's favorite thing to do, and we always brings friends with us, it's more fun. We always tell them that if they don't ride as much as we do, they should Bring Pain Meds! Coz it will hurt the area in-between your Legs and lower back. But the more riding you do, the more your body will get used to it. It's Fun for Family and Friends to do together . This place also has a lot of good Trail guides, so please, at the end of the ride, reward them. This is one of my secret, sacred spots in all of Los Angeles County. I've been coming here since I was a teenager (I'd ditch school and take three busses just to spend time with the horses). This horse stable means a great deal to me! Javier is the absolute best. He can size up how much cowboy you have in ya and give you the perfect horse. Cash ONLY. TIPS APPRECIATED. My son and I went on a GOD given Saturday when the weather was perfect and the recent rains ensured we wouldn't kick up too much dust. Katie was our tour guide and she was sensational. My horse and I traversed the beautiful, lolling hills and epic mountainside while she talked about growing up on a cattle ranch in Nebraska. I was immediately enthralled. One of my lifetime goals is to vacation on a working cattle ranch and just go at it. The horses are well taken care of and happy to oblige. The scenery is epic and really makes you detox from the push and pulls of LA life. My best moments were always on the back of a horse. I'm an OG. I remember when you could rent horses without a tour guide and bri g your dogs and then shop at the little mart next door on your way to team penning. Sadly, a lot of those things don't exist anymore but the beauty of GOD'S BEAUTY and AWESOME MIGHT is all around the trails. It's truly a blessing. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend. It's 50 for one hour and 75 for an hour and a half. Treat your soul and regain your sense of self while marveling at your surroundings. It's well worth it. Thank you Javier for being you. My children loved it (son 12; daughter 10 ) They tried out the shortest time option since it was their first time . It was for 1 hour and it costl $50 each. They provided helmets. You do need to sign a form/waiver, before riding. . Its kind of located in a residential area and there isnt a parking lot but it was easy to find Street Parking. If you or your loved ones are interested or curious about horse back riding, I would definitely recommend visiting this place. read more

What is the deal with the two horseback riding businesses in Burbank being so flaky and unprofessional? With Griffith Park Stables i could not get them on the phone or even to respond to my texts/emails to book my daughter's bday party. So i was left with resorting to Circle K who at least answers the phone, but also was very lackadaisical about how a party works and there is no real reservation. Mmmmokayyy? I am an experienced rider, and my family and kids are novice at best. We pay the $50 cash per person, get out ill-fitting helmets (which no one checked if they were on properly or tight enough) and they get us our horses. There is no instruction or announcement from anyone as to where we are going, or ANY basic safety tips when riding a horse with a pack of 9 year old children. So away we go! The horses were all over the place, walking so close to the other horses that they would get feisty and annoyed, and their ears were going back. This is basically rule #1 of trail rides- don't let your horse get obnoxiously close to the horse in front- it pisses them off, and they can buck! I have seen it happen and it's scary! So there was a staff member with us at the back of the huddle of horses (can't use the word guide because that was hardly what he was doing) and every now and then he would click and whip a horse to go faster. This happened while going downhill and my son's horse startled and kicked his back leg up and it also startled my son to the point he started crying. Then my 9 y/o daughter's horse was a naughty and wild one, leading the pack and just taking off in a trot whenever he wanted. Frankly I was very anxious the whole ride because we were NOT waking single file & and down these tight trails that go off a cliff, and it just didn't feel safe. There NEEDS to be a leader/guide who is in charge when a bunch of little kids are on horses up in the hillsides, and I found myself taking charge because the guy was not. We all made it back ok, but I definitely won't be patronizing this business again. read more

I'm a horse owner lifelong as is my friend who joined me for an 8am avoid the heat ride. Because of VSV (Vesicular Stomatitis virus) in horses people aren't bringing their horses out to new trails to avoid exposure. So we chose to ride rentals. We both showed up w our own helmets and dressed in gear. The horses are excellent condition. The guide was very kind and chill. We were out for two hours on well maintained trails. The horses are accustomed to the one hour ride so were mildly reluctant to take a right when they normally go straight. No problem at all for experienced riders probably not easy for a novice. read more
