I was signed up for horseback riding by Renaissance club and I was very excited. Our group did the 1.5 hour ride through Griffith park. The time we were signed up for was 12pm, so it's the middle of the hot day. If I could do this again and sign myself up I would have chosen an earlier or a later time to avoid the peak heat of the day but despite this if you arrive with a good hat, wearing sunblock, and have some thin long sleeves to protect you, then you will feel ok. Between my hat, sunglasses, and long sleeves, I was fine, I was sweaty but there were lots of breezes to cool us off. You must sign two forms and indicate how comfortable you are riding and then you are matched with a horse (I was matched with Prince). Each horse apparently has history such as being in movies and that is fun to learn about while riding with the guide. You can tell the horses know the route by heart because they are basically taking us in the correct direction that the guide is telling us to go but the horse is already going that direction. It was cute how the horses sometimes wanted to push past each other to be in the very front and then at other times they wanted to walk together in a herd crowding us all together. The road is very dusty, I didn't think about this but if I go again another item I will bring is a mask to block the dust. I did allot of holding my breath. I do not know if Valley Fever is rampant in Griffith Park but there's allot of dust you will be inhaling so I would rather protect my lungs the next time around. The hooves and the wind are making the dust clouds fly and you are riding right through the dust. The horse's pace was a bit slow moving and I felt bad they must be so tired in the middle of the day. As we got closer to the end they began to pick up their pace a little and mine went at a short gallop which was so fun. I would love to try going faster next time! The horses are beautiful and well taken care of, and the trails are spacious enough for so many horses to travel. I definitely would love to come again during different times of day to enjoy the wilderness again!

I cannot recommend this place enough. This was my first time horseback riding and it was PERFECT! I absolutely loved our guide, Sandra. She was so sweet, helpful, and very knowledgeable. She taught us so much about horses on our ride, and even helped me with my form when riding/trotting. It was just me, my friend, and Sandra for the trail ride so it was personal and peaceful. You can tell she really wanted us to have a good experience, especially because it was my first time. The route we took was SO beautiful, the scenic views along the Griffith Park are breathtaking, all while riding a horse was such an amazing experience. The horses are also well kept and well behaved, and you get to choose your horse based on your level/speed your comfortable with. On top of all of that, their rates are great (especially for LA). I will definitely be coming back!

Love my once a year horse riding up to the Hollywood sign! They have the coolest guides and I love that you don't have to be stradled to the horse and you can go in your own group or by yourself with a guide. Therapy at it's finest and worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY. Horses are trained so well and listen to the guides immediately. My go to for horseback riding in LA.

My friends and I went last months for my birthday. We made reservations for the one hour ride. The tour guide was very kind, whoever was in the back, he would make small talk which I appreciate.

Well paced and felt comfortable. Also, the address is 914 not 910. Studio Horse Rental is them on insta and it has the right address.

Hello. I am looking to have a horseback riding birthday party for my daughter. Is this something your facility can accommodate? What would the price be for 10 riders? Thanks?

Hello! I work at the stables and yes we'd love to have you! We can accommodate as many people as needed and have horses for all levels! It's $50 CASH ONLY per rider per hour. Come party! If we missed this bday, we'll see you for the next one!

How much is lessons for one month?

We only do trail rides through Griffith Park, not lessons, but have many customers who have learned to ride by coming regularly! We give great riding tips and can help you catch on quick. :) $50 CASH ONLY per rider per hour.

Right now the hours are 8am - 4 pm everyday, even holidays! WE'RE NOW ADDING NIGHT RIDES! Get a cooler ride not in the peak of the heat and see the beautiful night views! Call to schedule 818-843-9890

Are you able to walk the trails alone with no tour guide or must a tour guide accompany you? Thank you.

Trail boss Katy here. Unfortunately, insurance says yes you must have a trail guide with you these days. We're pretty cool though. :)

    Are walk-ins accepted every day?

    Yep! Come on by!

    What's the price?

Does the tour lead towards the Hollywood sign? If not, where do the tour guides lead us to?

They can take you to the sign but otherwise there are over 60 miles of riding trails all over the Griffith Park mountains... you can go to Amirs Gardens, Dante's Point, the Observatory all have great views!

Can I still go even though I don't know how to ride?

Yes, but make sure you tell them and don't go with a large group. This is so that you can go at a light pace and be sure that someone is there to guide you if you're having trouble controlling your horse. Ask plenty of questions on how to control… Read more

Do you go on the trails in front of the Hollywood sign and to the top Mt. Hollywood?

We go to Dante's View, the highest point, across from the Hollywood sign so you get a whole 360 of downtown LA, Griffith Observatory, the sign, and on a clear day the Ocean!

What time do they open on sundays?

We're open 8am-4pm EVERY DAY, Sundays and holidays included :)

Anyone know what the weight limit is?

They required us to get there 30 minutes before the tour. We got there at 9:30am, but the tour did not start until 10:30am. We waited for an hour before we can get on the back of the horse. This place is pretty private. We will have to make a call at the gate, so the staff can buzz us in. Parking structure is small, and it gets full fast. Staff was not too friendly unsure if they get burnt out with the tour. The horses looked tired and some of them look sick. My horse kept its head down throughout the ride. The one hour ride is basically sitting on the back of the horse, walking up the trail that we can see the Hollywood sign, and turned around at some point. Not worth the price you pay for. I will not be back.

There is free street parking on this street that we were able to find easily. We came on a Sunday morning at 9 am on a sunny day in November and no one else opted to ride at this time so it ended up being a private ride just for us. Another reviewer complained that their ride wasn't private but I don't even know if they offer actual private rides here?? If you want one your best bet would be calling to see if anyone else has booked a time slot and book one that is less likely to be popular such as weekday early morning etc. We chose to $50/person for a 1 hour approximately 3 mile ride (3.5 according to my watch). Your horse will be selected for you and I rode with Cortez who was friendly and very beginner friendly! Our guide was both English and Spanish speaking and directed us through the route, telling us which way to go but the horses are really good about already knowing the route so required reorienting them isn't very necessary. There isn't any other dialogue exchanged like info on the trails or historic info about Griffith park but both my friend and I are local to LA so we didn't mind but something to keep in mind for tourists. We did come across a pack of 3 coyotes but they didn't bother us and the horses did not get scared at all! The rental place also offers helmets (wear one!!!) for free in different sizes. It was quite sunny when we went so even though it was cooler outside we actually got really hot so I recommend dressing in layers, wearing pants you're ok with getting dirty/dusty, and boots or sneakers as well as sunglasses.
