The receptionist Melissa makes my son always feel heard and valued! She really understands these kiddos and has no judgement and has more patience than I DO for my rowdy kiddo who HATES waiting for his appointment to start! Her lived experience as a fellow momma of a neurospicy kiddo makes her such an asset to the families that come through here! The other reviews on here surprised me about the receptionist because I feel nothing but acceptance, peer support and no judgement from her every week since we started coming here! She gets it and is ALWAYS hard at work and STILL makes conversation when I won't STOP talking her ear off. Gift of speech is a blessing to us in Stockton where services are scarce for our kiddos who have needs that this local community can't always meet. Now if they would just open an Occupational Therapy clinic next........... The gift of OT perhaps?

As a language learner, I appreciate Dr. Shannon's sensitivity and passive knowledge of Chinese. As someone who reads a lot, she is also well read and can follow my ideas. Since working with Dr. Shannon I have improved a lot and my clients have noticed. I recommend Dr. Shannon to anyone who is a leader, manager, or business owner for her.

When I came to Dr. Wong Lerner, I needed help with my speech for the purpose of my work, and to develop my career. But I gained so much more. Dr. Wong Lerner conducted a very thorough evaluation of my speech to start, and then a couple of weeks later went over an "Accent spectrum" report that had all of the areas of speech that needed attention. What impressed and still impresses me about Dr. WL's expertise of speech, working with ESL people, and language (she has a passive knowledge of Chinese and some other languages) is that she knows so much in so many different areas. But also, it's the way she makes me feel safe and comfortable with this process of re-learning English for my job and my personal growth that would have otherwise been very difficult for me. And was difficult. I have already shifted my speech from a very closed mouth and not being able to pronounce many different consonants and vowels and words, to now where I have moved past much of that and I am learning speech patterns, and more complicated aspects of speech. I have learned not only how to speak better, but I've become more confident at my job and in my life. Shannon taught me how to speak more clearly but also how to speak up for myself! I do not hesitate to recommend her to any ESL speaker for these same accent reduction services (or I heard she works with UK speakers). This will be a lifelong set of lessons for me! Thank you, Dr. Shannon Wong Lerner!

So much changed for me during the program... my eye contact, pacing, and, surprisingly, I actually bring calm into a room instead of nerves. The mirror work was my biggest breakthrough. I learned to see myself in a whole new way and speak positively to myself, became kinder to myself, and that made me less afraid to fail. When you're not afraid to fail, you will speak with more presence and certainty. If what you're looking for is to connect with and share your authentic self, this is the place for you to do it.

My inner critic would chime in: "You're rambling! You're not making sense! Hurry up!" And just like that, I'd lose my train of thought and sound anything but clear or confident. As someone pursuing speaking more seriously, I knew I had to get past this. I joined a local Toastmasters club, which helped with structure and delivery techniques, but it didn't get to the root. I didn't need to memorize a speech. I needed to feel confident grabbing the mic with no idea what I'm going to say, and still pack a punch with my message. I met Lynn when she stopped by my local Toastmaster club as a guest speaker. By the end of her workshop, I was speaking freely, no notes, no rehearsals. In less than an hour, she got me to trust myself, and my message came across clear and resonate. So, I joined her Level 1 course. I'll be honest, at first, I was hesitant. The exercises were simple, even a little "woo-woo" and I doubted if it would really change me. We practiced looking in the mirror to say affirmations. We marched around chanting, "I don't know what I'm going to say, but it's going to be great!" and various other fun things! But it worked. Week by week, those small practices paired with real speaking challenges rewired my brain. This class brought me to tears countless times. In 4 weeks, I grew more confident, more self-assured. For the first time, I believed that I could do this. I could trust that I knew what I wanted to say and didn't have to rely on perfect preparation to say it, and say it well. Lynn created an extremely safe, low-pressure container, that feels easy to do, yet the internal shifts and changes are monumental. Everyone in the class went from unsure, to confident. Our last session was so powerful. The new-found authority in the room was palpable. It also happened to fall on my birthday. The group, who by then felt like family, surprised me with a cake and a song. So nice! Lynn teaches from the heart. Her approach gently unearths the root of fear. A month later, I'm still applying what I learned. I'm leading meetings more clearly, toasting at dinner, raising my hand to speak, looking myself in the mirror with kindness before judgement, and, most importantly, trusting myself more than ever. If you want to uncover what's holding you back and try simple yet powerful tools to break through it, Lynn's class is a safe and transformative place to start. I highly recommend!

Doris is a super friendly, funny person who's main goal is to help you in any she can. Throughout the process Doris did everything she could to help me, even in her off time when we weren't meeting. I remember how I would be working on my speech at the all hours of the day, and half of the time she would be on there too, commenting helpful suggestions. She spent hours looking over my speech giving me notes on how to have a clearer, stronger message. Then once the speech was perfected we would go through memorization tips, like grouping the information in small sentences in order to memorize chunks of the speech faster. Finally she guided me on how to speak with clear, big posture, a loud voice, and how to move throughout a stage. I remember if I didn't start strong enough she would act out how I looked, and make me try again, it was extremely helpful. I highly recommend Doris if you have a big presentation, or anything that involves talking in front of people.

I took my son who is a student here so we could spend a little time together one day between his classes and I was absolutely amazed. The service was so friendly! The decor is nice with linen table cloths and napkins; you feel like you've been whisked away to a little 5 star restaurant. The prices are more than reasonable and everything we ordered was delicious! Many looked like little works of art. There were a few issues with organization, time management, etc of course but that is to be expected in a learning environment. I am so glad we found this little gem and I can't believe it wasn't packed full of people. I guess the secret's not out yet. I will be back the next chance I get!

There's even a few outdoor tables complete with a sun-umbrella. Sometimes you get a novice server but they're never rude. The food is a leap of faith: sometimes they knock it out of the park and on a few occasions it was average. But I've always LOVED something (or more than a few) things on my plate. They are much more accomodating regarding dietary restrictions, the veggies are fresh and so are the desserts! The desserts are to die for...you MUST leave space for dessert or else you'll hate yourself as you drool over something about to be devoured at another table. Last week I had a great chicken tagine and for the sweet stuff - chocolate lava cake with raspberry drizzle...OMG it was LUSCIOUS! Also, I took a friend to lunch here and as it was her birthday I asked the servers to sing "Happy Birthday" when they brought her dessert out. They did one better, they sang and wrote "Happy Birthday" on her plate in chocolate! You are NOT going to get this kind of food value in Stockton, I guarantee you. Hey - tip well, these students pool their tip $$$ for an end-of-the-school-year trip to the Bay for a culinary tour. INSIDERS TIP: They have a Student Chef Hot Plate Express inside the cafeteria. For $5.50, you get a hot entree with a carb and veggie - the most bang for your buck! Again, I've never been disappointed. They also have a cold counter where they have sandwiches and salads. No - they haven't paid me off. They deserve all the accolades and then some! Here's a link to the menu, but if you take my corner table by the window I'll have to kill you. Slowly. I'm just kidding. Well, not really. :) http://www.deltacollege.edu/dept/foodservice/student_chef/menu.html
