Our medical insurance liaison provided us Speech Therapy Associates in Lodi, CA as one of our options to continue services for our (then) 4 year-old son. Taking Yelp reviews into consideration, we were initially hesitant given there were no reviews at that point. Well...you know what they say, when one window closes, a door opens. That's how it was with STA. It didn't seem like it at that moment when we got "kicked out" of the other speech therapy provider... but to get services with STA proved to be a blessing in disguise. The moment I made the call to STA, they were empathetic with my concerns and challenges with the previous therapy provider, and worked with what would make sense with my schedule and offered flexibility that was fair for both myself and their company. Going into their office (pre-COVID), we were greeted warmly by their front office staff (Warda). Over the weeks we went there, she was always welcoming, understanding, easy to speak with, and just have this genuine aura. (Definitely miss seeing her during this shelter-in-place) Our family was lucky to have Sharon Palmer, Clinical Director, as our son's therapist. From the very beginning, I could see a difference between Sharon's approach and my son's reaction compared to previous provider. Sharon approaches the sessions feeding off what his interests are...and is always mindful when my kiddo needs a break. (This is a big thing because at his previous provider, they would make him work even when he's having a meltdown). Sharon has a human-approach vs just being textbook driven... she is compassionate and patient with my kiddo... and our kiddo really reacts positively to her process (to the point where he includes her in his prayers). We can definitely tell Sharon has great experience in her line of work and is able to professionally and calmly navigate through challenges. As involved parents, we feel with Sharon there is great communication and we are informed of what our kiddo's goals are, what they work on the day of, suggested exercises, and get asked on what concerns we may have. Our family can see a big difference from when he started compared to now. We are so happy with STA and would highly recommend them to anyone who needs speech services.

We meet and there's a lot going on, but proceed. She has two young children that are the same age as mine and she can't seem to control her temper with them. Right away she's loudly yelling at them to go away, go here, go there. After a few of her explosions, she mentions she only yells at her kids that way, but as a parent I know better. I ask her about her discipline procedure and she seems taken aback almost like she doesn't know how to answer. When we start going over the rates, she informs me she wants 2 weeks payment in advance and starts whining about her finances and lies to me saying all daycares are doing this, but maybe someone else did want to deal with this psycho either... just a heads up-stay safe!

I followed up a day later and still no response. Same situation happened with another parent I spoke with at our local park. If you're full, say you're full. If you don't offer part time child care, just say so. But just flat out not responding is poor service and leads me to question how your communication is with parents whose kids you are watching.

Just updating my review:…read more It's been 2 years and 4 months since our daughter was born and Dr. B has been with us phenomenally every step of the way--including through diagnosing our girl with autism. She pushed to make sure we got the referrals we needed and kept herself involved so we had support along the way. We love her so much that we didn't even blink when she opened her own private practice, because even paying a fee out of pocket every month is completely worth it for the level of skill, attention, and care our daughter receives. My kiddo took a header out of the door of our car the other than and landed straight on her face, giving herself an instant goose egg and a scraped face. I was so panicked because, um, first time mom and first time bad injury, and so I immediately called Dr. B. Although I got her answering machine, she called back literally in 1 minute and calmly talked me through it (my kiddo is fine now). Whenever I message her, I know I'll get a prompt response and not wait days. She also checks in frequently to see how your child is doing. She provides a level of care that is unmatched and invaluable. Our kids are our most precious things in this world. Making sure they're healthy and happy and safe is paramount above all else and with Dr. B, you know your family is in great hands. 20/10 would recommend.
