I was really craving izakaya and was going through yelp like a crazy person. When we got there, there only one izakaya item on the menu, but I'm not mad because ramen sounded good too! This turned out to be an incredible meal! I also had no idea this is a famous Japanese chain! We ordered the Wagyu steak that came on a sizzling platter very good! The himachi roll was very bright and fresh. But I was blown away by the ramen. We were originally gonna share a bowl, but after a bite I told my husband he needs to order his own because I'm not sharing haha! The noodles are just the way I like it, thin and al dente. The broth was flavorful. I didn't care for the meat, but I usually don't like the meats that come with ramen anyway. The restaurant is quite small. It's very clean and bright. I am guessing this is gonna become very popular soon. Easily the best ramen I've had since moving to California!

Yuzu Shio ($16.50) featured their signature broth, but the dish was quite bland.

There's people who can tell you the ins and outs of ramen broth and weigh in on the best places for such. That's not me. With seemingly armfuls of ramen places from which to choose I gave Afuri a try and left pleased with my choice. Afuri's signature offering is one which contains Yuzu broth. This was sampled in an order of Yuzu Shio ($16.50) which two of us found to be rather bland and underwhelming. Tonkatsu Tantan ($20) proved that Afuri could do better. Rich and 9 out of 10 on the spiciness scale (assigned by me), I was either going to consume gallons of water with this, or another solution was needed. My server understood the assignment and brought me a separate bowl of mild broth to add to the way-spicy broth I'd been served. The solution was perfect. I very much enjoyed this spicy dish. Afuri has a somewhat upscale feel with music playing a little too loudly and servers who may need to be waved down. I think their service could be improved upon but I won't hold it against them on a single visit. I might head elsewhere for another bowl of ramen - simply because there's such a plethora of options in this area - but if someone suggested a return to Afuri I'd not complain.

Just opened in April 2026, this new Japanese joint is such a great addition to this foodie land plaza Their menu is pretty solid and has something for everyone I heard they also rotate and change out some of their items which is great and something to look forward to I tried their edamame, scallop carpaccio , and yuzu tsukemen (cold) which hit the spot on these warm and hot summer days Everything was delicious.. even their limeade was so refreshing Service is also prompt and attentive Highly recommend checking them out

I really enjoyed the food here. I had come for an event, and had the tori karaage; yuzu shio ramen; yuzu limeade; and Basque cheesecake. We've had hot weather for over a month, and luckily the interior is clean, cool, & well-ventilated. Many of the menu items here contain yuzu, so for those who love it - definitely recommend just for that. To preface - I'm not a huge ramen fan and don't have many to reference, my one favorite spot is Hokkaido Santouka; but I wanted to see how the yuzu would pair with ramen, and see if it could convert me. Ultimately, I couldn't taste much of the yuzu. However - the tori karaage, yuzu limeade, and Basque cheesecake w/ yuzu are ones I absolutely *loved*. I would come here again just for those. The service was great as well! They had a full house, but the few servers handled everything effortlessly.

This place was amazing and felt like being on Iron Chef where the secret ingredient was yuzu. Went as part of an event and enjoyed a multicourse meal. Staff was friendly and location had really cute decorations all over. Pleasant spot if not a little loud. Sat at the bar, which did no favors for my back, but overall was comfy. First off was a Yuzu Lager, thought it was a bad pour, but the foam was actually like a delicious sherbet that absolutely amplified the drink. Sort of a lemony beer float. Very refreshing. Appetizers were the yuzu edamame and a scallop carpaccio. Both delicious and interesting flavor profiles. The small fish eggs bursting with the Hotate Scallops made for many excellent bites. Then came a shoyu ramen. Absolutely amazing with an almost candied tonkotsu pork. Noodles tasted home made and broth was perfect. Lastly came the cheesecake. A nice fluffy style cheesecake with tasty sauces and a candied cashew for good measure. Overall an amazing experience, and I will have to make it back to try some more.

I was first introduced to Afuri by my sister when we went to Japan and I'm very happy that there's now a location in Costa Mesa. I generally find ramen, especially in Japan, to be too heavy, but Afuri is light and refreshing. Most of Afuri's ramens have yuzu, adding a nice citrusy and tang to the noodles. My go-tos here are the yuzu shio when I'm feeling a hot soup base and the yuzu-tsuyu for tsukemen. The tsukemen is super refreshing and it's served cold. The noodles are al dente, having a nice chew and qq to it. This is a great place to grab a quick lunch or dinner with friends and ramen is the star of the show here.

It was pretty good. I ordered the yuzu shio ramen and the fried eggs. The yuzu flavors were there, and the broth was rich and refreshing. Pretty solid ramen spot.

I was so hyped to try this restaurant after the rave reviews and numerous TikTok videos, but it ended up being a disappointment. Located in a small plaza near SCP, it can get very busy. The parking lot does offer valet. Non-Alcoholic Drinks: - Yuzu Limeade 5/5 - Housemade Ginger Ale 4/5: Slightly watered down. Food: - Yuzu Shio Edamame 3/5: Edamame was very small in size and overcooked. It was on the soggy side. - Tori Karaage 3/5: Mid , this was a little dry dry and bland. Also very small portions. - Shishito Peppers 3/5 - Toro on Crispy Rice 4/5: The drizzled sauce was a bit too sweet. - Citrus Hamachi Roll 3/5: Very small and the rice was falling apart. - I ordered a few pieces of the nigiri sushi and nothing special to note here. - Yuzu Ratan 2/5: Damn, this dish was not it. It was so oily and salty. Noodle texture was just okay, nothing special. Also, note that your bowl only comes with one piece of protein. Most ramen places I have been to will provide a minimum of two pieces. - Tonkatsu TanTan 2/5: Unlike the Yuzu Ratan, this broth was extremely bland and light. Overall, portions were very small at a very high price, and nothing stood out to me.

First time to try this place as it has been recommended by a few friends. The restaurant is bright and clean and simply decorated. The service was friendly and efficient. I ordered the special Yuzu Shio shishito peppers $6 and the Yuzu Shio ramen $16.50 with an extra serving of $2.50 noodles. The serving sizes seem a little smaller than other ramen shops, but the taste is what makes this place special. The shishito peppers were very tasty and nicely presented. There were six peppers. The ramen broth was very clean tasting, with a refreshing touch of yuzu. We requested the thin ramen to be slightly al dente and it was perfectly made. I enjoyed the slightly firm texture. The 1/2 egg was nicely soft boiled, the pieces of bamboo and greens were nice and crunchy, and the chashu was tender. I do wish there was more than one piece of chashu though. I saw you could order extra chashu for $3 but not sure if that's for one more piece. Overall a great meal and I would definitely come back for a quick and delicious meal.

Afuri is a Japanese based restaurant chain and is famous for their Yuzu ramen. The ramen is made with a mixture of chicken, seafood, seaweed, and vegetables. It has a citrusy flavor due to yuzu fruit utilized in the broth that adds a refreshing taste. Yuzu Shio ramen ($16.50 + $2.50 to substitute the pork chasu with chicken chasu) - The ramen included whole wheat noodles and half an egg. Besides ramen they offer fried chicken and some limited sushi options. Overall, the ramen tasted amazing here, and I'm glad that it's made with out pork. It is pricey though in my opinion. The seating is limited to a communal bar table as well as a handful of tables inside. The first few weeks that they opened the line was outside the door, but things have calmed down and while it is still popular, there shouldn't be a wait to be seated.

Super delicious Ramen and a cute little space. I appreciate that this place closes late as we had a late night Ramen craving. We both ordered the Tonkotsu Shio with mushroom, chashu, egg and other toppings. The Ramen broth had a nice depth of flavor and the thin noodles were perfectly cooked. The staff was prepping for closing but were still very kind and hospitable! I'm looking forward to coming back and recommend you stop in for a visit.

It was $91~ for 5 items 1 ramen 1 tsukemen 1 broccolini side Beer Karaage Good, but not great. Noodles were good, but the sides seemed tastier. There is a light yuzu flavor in the background, so it never felt jarring. Albeit, the broccolini got a little oily as you keep chewing. Karaage had nice flavor but could have been juicier.

    Sharon N.

Spicy Yuzu Ratan - yuzu chicken broth with a light tanginess to it. It's refreshing and spicy. Noodles were cooked perfectly to my preference (requested for firm noodles). The bowl only gives you ONE piece of chashu, which to me was a bit sad... could at least give me 2 pieces lol. Crispy gyoza - crispy and moist. Very good! Not sure how I feel about their sweet chili mayo sauce though lol. Definitely would come back again to try their other menu items. Service was fast and friendly.

We had actually expected just the usual soup ramen place, but later discovered that, although a view varieties of ramen noodles are offered on their menu, their specialty was in fact the dried version of a bowl of soup ramen noodles, or what our server referred to as a bowl of "reverse" ramen noodles, better known as Mazemen noodles.... sounded really yummy so far as I have always preferred dry noodles to soup ones. So, my wife went ahead and ordered a bowl of spicy California Tonkotsu ramen noodles, and I went with the Saitama Chicken Mazemen noodles..... and some handmade spicy wonton and fried Karaage Chicken on the side. Our food came out pretty fast, super hot, super fresh, and super delicious! I tried some of my wife's soup ramen, and yes, had great flavor... not too salty, and perfectly medium firm ramen noodles. As for my Mazemen noodles....woweee!.... this was my first time trying Mazemen noodles, with a large board on the wall with instructions on how Wadaya's Mazemen noodles should be eaten. When the instructions were followed, I dug straight in and...mmmmm good! The combination of ingredients in the bowl.... peppered ground chicken, scallions, chives, poached egg, minced garlic, fish umami, and seaweed flakes.... when all tossed together just made for an amazingly delicious bowl of noodles! I really loved and enjoyed it so very much! The Chicken karaage and spicy wontons were very delicious too and went great with our noodles. Other than that, very cute and cozy ambiance... like a little Japanese ramen place, service was excellent.. our server was so nice, so friendly, so attentive, and so helpful.... this made for just the perfect lunch! This place may not be as high profiled as other more popular and well known brands of ramen places, but it's definitely one of the best we've ever tried, and we'll definitely be back soon.

To my surprise, it was a good experience that we had. The shop was small, but the staff has a workflow nailed down. The parking was not too terrible on a weekday evening -- I was worried about the warnings, so we parked on the street. When walking to the hotel, I saw that there were many open spaces in the parking lot! We had the chicken cartillage and the calamari for appetizers. The cartillage was good, but portion was quite small. Some additional seasoning/salt would have also made it much better! The calamari was definitely VERY different from other places, but I liked the batter texture. What I loved about the ramen here is that they let you customize from the noodle size, texture, spice level, and the salt level! I always prefer the thicker noodle type, so I found it comforting to be able to request it at no extra charge. Beware there is extra charge for Spice level 4 & 5! I had the Garlic Tonkotsu ramen, which was flavorful and not too salty/creamy. My fiance had the Tan Tan ramen at level 5 spice, which he thought it was not spicy (it was for me!) and not as flavorful as what I ordered. Overall, I would definitely revisit this shop next time I'm in Oahu!

The server doesn't apologize - he states it's already been picked up. How? I ask if they don't verify the DoorDash confirmation for pickup. The server Kendrick tells me they do, but scammers show up with the exact order confirmation screen and pick up orders. Honestly sounds like BS to me, considering they have pickup orders by the front door on a shelf that anyone could take. Either way, the lack of an immediate apology or questions to clarify just point to the fact that he assumed immediately I was a scammer. Okay, annoying. But whatever. I want my food. I ask to have it remade - they're still seating people and people are ordering. They're not closing anytime soon. He tells me they won't remake it. I ask why and he continues to insinuate I'm a scammer and a thief trying to pick up someone else's order. He tells me to cancel my order. I'm beyond pissed at this point because I can't even get a refund via DoorDash because it's already being prepared. So I go back and talk to him again. He continues to refuse to cancel the order or remake it. He gets on the phone with a "Peter" who he claims is the manager. It gets really fun from here. Peter listens to my story and says there's nothing they can do. He says scammers do that all the time, and every restaurant deals with it. Okay, so how has it never happened to me at ANY restaurant? And how have I NEVER heard of it happening? So Peter, after refusing to do anything for me for a while, finally says he'll talk to the server to try and cancel the order from their end. Fine. I hand the phone back to Kendrick and he walks inside. I wait 7 min and no updates. So I go inside and ask him if he's canceling the order. He says, "what do you mean?" I tell him the manager said he'd tell him to cancel the order. Kendrick says, "he was telling you to do that". More gaslighting lmfaoooooo. I tell him no, he told you to. Again, I'm pissed beyond belief at this point and again, I can't get a refund via DoorDash because it's already "being prepared". You would think saying that 3 times is enough for them to finally get it but no. I wasted 20 min driving here, and another 25 waiting for a resolution for this BS. Kendrick tells me he can't cancel the order twice. I just ignore him and wait. 3 min later he goes "I canceled it". Like... you guys are acting like I'm the scammer when you clearly are the ones trying to pull some shady stuff. I FINALLY get my refund and Kendrick says, "sorry I just work here." Brother, that's not your line. You say that when, for example, corporate has a policy that no one likes. This all stemmed from you and your team's incompetence. The lying and gaslighting is absolutely crazy. 25 min and they either could've just refunded me or remade my order. A waste of time. I'll never visit any Slurpin again - this was just pathetic. Not a single bit of sincerity or willingness to help. The manager sounded like he was tired of talking to me, and our conversation lasted 2 min (I'm not even exaggerating). If you want food, don't go here. If you want to keep your money, don't come here. However, if you want to be treated like a liar and a scammer from the second you walk in, then this place is perfect.
