I have been shopping at this market for years but yesterday's experience was awful after I saw the cashier wiping his nose after sneezing then proceeded to bag produce with contaminated hands. After discreetly asking the cashier to wash his hands, he was so lazy in doing so and instead he just used sanitizer which is not the proper way. What made my experience worse is the level of customer experience I received and the bad attitude. This cashier unfortunately ruined the good reputation of this location as I will take my business somewhere when I get the proper customer treatment. read more

We have been coming here from over 10 years and they always have fresh bread and fresh meat. Every one here is very friendly and always very helpful. I love the service in the fresh meat department as you can order ahead of time and you can pick it up when you like. I will highly recommend this place. read more

This is your typical Afghan store in Tracy. They offer fresh bread in the back, a butcher, and front store items. If you're working and can't get to the store to buy the bread fresh, they can hold it for you. They offer plain white and wheat. You have to call to order the wheat since they don't normally make this. For meat, it's Halal cut (acceptable for Muslims to eat). You can get ground beef, chicken breast, chicken thighs and legs, lamb, and whole chicken. They will cut it for you, grind chicken to make it ground chicken or grind the beef to make it ground beef. You take extra plastic bags to separate your meat at home and freeze for future use. Front of the store carries spices, baked goods, rice, food in the freezer and near the back, they also cook fresh food although it's limited items. I've seen a large order being placed which is good for folks looking for catering options. I have ordered the bolani which was good. 3 stars because parking is problem sometimes. They share parking with Indian store next door, and Planet Fitness. Also, some fresh fruits and veggies are cheaper next door in the Indian store. read more

An Afghani place in Tracy- we just had to check it out! So what exactly is this place - a lot of things: A Grocery -selling fresh produce and dried nuts A Mini Market -with a freezer section for milk, drinks, natural yogurt and microwaveable meals and ailses stacked with tea, coffee, cookies, spices etc - all from afghanistan and pakistan... A Butchery - you can go in and request halal meats and they will slice it infront of you and wrap it to go (lamb, chicken beef) A Bakery - all the way in the back they have baked goods and tons of lavash bread. A restaurant - serving typical Afghani fare. We uploaded pictures of the menu and what we ordered. For an appetizer we shared Bolani Katchalu, warm flaky bread stuffed with leeks, potatoes and spices. Believe it or not he made it fresh right infront of us! and it was delish worthy of a whopping 4 stars. I was also able to watch him gril the kebabs. Dave got the combination plate which came with chicken and beef kebab and I got the Chopan kebab which was lamb. Both dishes were served with a green salad and rice. Dave said the beef kebab was by far the best between the chicken and the lamb and I though the chicken was really good. I didn't like the lamb too much as it was over cooked and really charred and that killed the flavor, I did enjoy the rice and next time will get the chicken kebab. I was excited about this place because I was craving for something different. So i went in and experienced the rudest customer service ever!. First of all I want to say that it's dark and gloomy inside. you can't even see the little restaurant in the back. I had to ask where it was. So when I finally find the restaurant the cook or whoever it was RUDELY asks "what do you want?" not even a "Hi how are you?" I let that slide and asked for a combination chicken and beef kabob. Then he stupidly asks "no beef what else?" .. well 15 minutes later, I get my meal. I was so turned off by what I experienced, I lost my appetite so i gave my food to my hubby. The food was good but the customer service deserves a big fat 0. Don't think i'll be going back anytime soon read more

We have been buying Halal Meat, Shaan Spices (large selection), Dry Fruits, Dates, Tea, Rice, and other grocery items from them for over the last 10 years now. We have done Qurbani for Eid-ul-adhani with them also. Very good customer service ... family friendly. I love their restaurant also ... Afghani food is very tasty! Their kebab and Kabuli Pulao along with Bolani (potato paratha) are soooooooooo yummy! They make fresh Afghani naan and cookies in their bakery section also ... quite reasonably priced! read more

This was a great find! I came across this little market with a restaurant in the back and a bakery behind that. I got an order of the chicken, steak, lamb and beef kabob all where great but the lamb by far was the best. All the orders came with salad, rice, bread, meat and chickpea salad for around $9 dollars. I went around to the bakery and got a large sheet of flat bread for $2 a sheet and be warned it's addicting. Again for Tracy this was a treat. read more

This is my neighbors market so I will speak kindly. JK, this is a great market with great spices. I usually buy the prepared spice packets for kabobs. You should also try the various afghan naan or flat breads. The breads with caraway seeds (Usually round in shape) are great with any Black Tea. Not sure what we would do without this store in Tracy. They have fresh halal meat (a wide variety). Plus they carry all Shan Masala (spices) from Pakistan, Basmati rice (like Zebra), fresh cooking and bread from their own bakery, a big variety of dry fruits, etc etc. The staff is really friendly including the owner. Always busy. Their restaurant is a bit small and needs some cleaning up however, you can't beat the taste - Yummy yummy food. read more

The bolani was amaizing! Plus the beef gyro had exquisite taste! Defiantly a place to go if your in the mood for Halal food.

The food here is absolutely amazing! The service was not so fast, but that's because you can watch the cook make the food fresh right in front of you. I got bored so I walked around and looked through all the exotic things they had in the grocery section. To top it off the food was very fairly priced. Since then I've called in my order and they always have it ready by the time I get there. I recommend the chicken kabob meal. Comes with lots of delicious rice and a salad and a side of garbanzo beans and chopped potatoes in some type of vinegar sauce. MUST TRY!!!! read more

I started going here 5 months ago. The fresh bread is AMAZING! The meat and chicken are halal and high quality. I always get asked if I need help finding anything. If you are looking for exotic spices or imported foods, this place ROCKS! Every time I go I try to buy something different in canned foods or spices.The deli food is AMAZING. Forget about fast food when you come here, this food is high quality and authentic. Definitely worth trying. Let me not forget to mention the dried nuts. OMG! I think the owner did a great job of opening this place making it easier for people to access afghan food or grocery without putting trip to fremont area. This place serves a great variety though with some shortfalls which should be with any new place but definitely gonna improve down the road with experience. Went there in my traditional outfit and waited there to get meat for 15 minutes while the guys are just chatting and didn't even acknowledge that I was standing there. They are rude and dishonest. Whenever I go in my professional work outfit they're practically bowing before me. The guys will always ignore you if you are female even while in line paying. First time ordering food from Afghan Market. II ordered Ashak and Tekka kabob. Tekka kabob was awesome. I will definitely try it again. Ashak was not bad either, but it could have used more sauce. The Kofta on top of The Ashak was very dry. In their defense, I did order my food when they were about to close so I shouldn't be complaining about sauce, but I do appreciate that they accepted my order with great attitude though I made them late. read more
