Every few years it is necessary to do some tree trimming and I had put it off because it is a large expense. After a branch landed on the roof and smashed my gutter I knew I couldn't wait any longer. About a month ago I was returning from a trail walk at Leita Thompson Park and saw a Squirrel Tree Services truck. Since I love squirrels and needed my trees trimmed I gave them a call. A fine gentleman named Jorge came by to give me a quote. He was extremely friendly and helpful explaining what his team could do for my situation. Obviously I knew I was about to spend thousands of dollars and wanted the job done soon. Jorge made notes of all the trees needing trimming and told me the price it would cost. I believe it was an extremely fair price because it was a lot of work The Squirrel Team showed up exactly at 8:00 am on Saturday and set up their equipment. How shall I describe these tree climbing and cutting geniuses? Their skills and talents are beyond…read morewords. Their work is like a ballet, only way up high in the trees. No tutus involved. OK, enough of the flowery stuff. There are four members in the crew, and each is skilled in a particular aspect of the field of cutting down trees. I've seen a lot of tree crews, and these guys are top notch. They showed up on time, I had to get the utility company to do a power drop, and then the members swiftly got to work, dropping the trees that could be a problem for my power line first. By noon, those trees were gone, and I called up the power company to say they could reconnect the power, which they did at about 1 PM. (Hidden praise for Walton EMC buried in here. Based on past experience, I wouldn't begin to expect the same level of service from the power company that has the word 'Georgia' in their name. YMMV.) I was so pleased I paid them a bit extra and gave the crew some of my stash of hash. No, that's not quite right. Fudge. Yes, that's it! Fudge, that I had purchased the day before in St. Augustine. The ones that did show up would not give me a quote on the spot. When it came to the job itself, he brought one other guy to take down my 70 ft. tree using ropes. The fall was perfect and did not damage other things around it. I also had a tree that had fallen and they chopped it up for me and stacked it neatly, asking how long I wanted the logs for firewood. It was cheaper to keep the wood. These guys are professional and their price was less than half the next lowest bid.
