I don't usually write reviews, but my experience with Jtech left me honestly uncomfortable,…read morescammed, disrespect, mistreated, and disappointed A major issue was the conduct of Mr. Vaughn. Instead of creating a supportive learning environment, his approach often felt intimidating. There were multiple instances where he used what came across as scare tactics toward students . Threatening to send home, raising his voice, insisting making examples out of people, telling students they don't want to see Drill Sergeant Vaughn, and creating unnecessary pressure rather than actually helping anyone improve. Learning is already stressful with it being nights and some students have work schedules, but this kind of environment makes it worse. Instead of deescalating, it felt like students were hesitant to speak up out of fear of being singled out. That's not how a classroom should operate, especially in a program where people are trying to build skills and confidence. Beyond that, communication and overall organization at the school didn't help much either. It often felt like concerns weren't taken seriously, and there wasn't much effort to address the environment being created.

The place was very unclean and unorganized. I asked a simple question and the women was very rude about it. People pay good money to take a test but get greeted with unprofessional staff. I would never recommend this place to anyone!

If you want to take CPR/FA and HIV/AIDS classes, and other "little" certifications (less than 40 hours), this is a good and cheaper alternative, but I would not recommend taking one of their larger classes like their Nursing program or Pharmacy Tech program. The staff and teachers are nothing but nice and knowledgeable, but that's their only saving grace. This school caters to people looking to get a new start at a good price. They offer in-house loans for tuition (for classes more than $800 I think) since you cannot put this school on the FAFSA, so you gotta get the money on your own. I received an in-house loan and the process was very straightforward and easy. You gotta pay for your own background check and drug test, get caught up on your vaccines, and get a physical. All of that will cost you between $200-$250 and it's all mandatory for a few of their classes. Though their vision is very clear that they want to help people "get on the right track" their overall system is very shady and places a lot of pressure on its students to succeed or else they will be right back where they started at ground zero. First off, this is NOT an accredited school. If you find their Course Catalog on their website and flip a few pages, they admit that they are not accredited. I found this out a little too late since I found their website difficult to navigate when I first found it, but it's there. This school was made to get students to take national exams and certifications. They will also tell you that you have to take and PASS national certification exams in order to complete their classes and find work. If you fail those national exams, they will not give you a certificate of completion from your class/program and you will have to wait to retake the exam and hope you pass the second time to finally be done. No matter how good you do in the actual class, you will NOT be given a certificate of completion or any resources on how to become registered with the state until you pass those exams. It's completely unnecessary to take some of these national exams to work in Florida, and Express will basically force you to take them and then keep you from graduating until you pass them. Example: In the state of Florida, you don't need to be nationally certified to work as a Pharmacy Technician. Sure, you'll earn a few extra dollars on your salary, but it is not required to find work. You just have to enroll in an accredited class and complete 80 externship hours and then pay a fee to register with the sate, and then you're done and can seek work anywhere in Florida. Through Express, you must complete the class, complete 120 externship hours (their contract is with CVS), PASS the national certification exam, and then they will grant you your certificate and then you pay your fee to register with the state so you can find work. So, you gotta work an extra 40 hours for free, and if you fail the exam then you will be denied your certificate of completion (and you will still have to pay those loans!) even though you completed the Florida requirements of finishing a class and earning over 80 hours from your externship. I talked to someone that recently finished their tech program this year, and he said that none of the students had externships lined up - even after over a MONTH of being done with the class - because their coordinator was very slow. So, they have to wait until their externships are lined up, then do those 120 hours, and then take the test before they can even think about applying for jobs. If you work full-time and you're trying to fit in 10-15 hours a week for the externship, you're looking at another 3-4 months. So some of those people may not even "finish" the class until the summer - almost a year later - assuming they pass the first time. Pay the extra $1000 and take this class at UF and (if you're disciplined) take it online. You can finish this program within 2 months if you do multiple modules a day, you'll have the peace of mind knowing that UF will set up externships for you and will send you regular emails on available jobs in the area after you finish the program (Express does not), and you could have jobs lined up for you before you even finish your externship since they contact people for you to make sure you get a job ASAP. If I could have done it all over again, I would have paid the extra money so I wouldn't have had to put up with all of the pressure and stress this institution placed on me. I am embarrassed to say that I attended this school (which is a shame since the teachers and staff are SO nice) and I have yet to recommend a single person here for classes beyond CPR/FA certification. This school is an absolute scam.

It's also a place to find some really unique gifts for loved ones. Donna, the owner and herbalist, is very approachable and runs a school where people in the community can come and learn various skills from soap making to attaining an herbalist's certificate right at this location. I'm so impressed with the array of ingredients that she carries [some that are very difficult to find] and the quality of the finished products that are available to purchase. The prices are very reasonable for everything. I love the fact that you can go and smell, touch, see and feel the plethora of wonderful products and bulk herbs available here! Much better, in my opinion, than blindly buying it online somewhere else. It smells amazing in here and now I know where to get my ingredients for my tea addiction at extremely reasonable prices. I just can't say enough about how amazing this resource is for locals and the entire community! Everyone is very welcoming, knowledgeable and generous with their time. If you are in the area, this is a hidden gem that you cannot miss!
