Our experience at this school was heartbreaking, and withdrawing our daughter was one of the best…read moredecisions we made for her well being. We chose this school because it advertised the Montessori philosophy, fostering independence, following the child, and allowing children to learn freely in a respectful environment. Unfortunately, our experience was very different. This school placed a much greater emphasis on compliance and unquestioning obedience than on nurturing independence, curiosity, or confidence. During her time here, our 4 year old daughter was healthy, bright, curious, and full of personality, yet she was repeatedly singled out for age appropriate behaviors. She was asked to sit on a bench during outdoor playtime. During lunch, the children were expected to remain completely silent for about 30 minutes so the schedule could stay on track. When my daughter tried to talk with classmates or be playful as many 4 year olds naturally do, she was separated and made to sit with a teacher instead. The most concerning part was the change we saw in her. She began saying negative things about herself, such as that she "doesn't have good listening ears." She started biting her nails, grinding her teeth in her sleep, crying before school, and waking up multiple times at night crying. These behaviors were new and deeply concerning to us. We also felt she was beginning to be labeled rather than understood. No healthy 4 year old should come to believe that their personality is a problem because they need developmentally appropriate guidance. After we withdrew her and enrolled her in another school, the difference was remarkable. She flourished. Her confidence returned, her joy came back, and the emotional distress gradually disappeared. That experience confirmed for us that the issue was not our daughter, it was the environment. Every family has different priorities. If your goal is a highly structured environment where obedience and compliance are emphasized above all else, this school may be a good fit. But if you chose Montessori because you value independence, confidence, curiosity, and your child's emotional well being, our experience did not reflect those ideals. I intentionally waited seven full months before writing this review. I wanted time to reflect, separate emotion from fact, and ensure my review was thoughtful, fair, and truthful. After watching my daughter thrive elsewhere, I remain confident that this review accurately reflects our family's experience.

Probably not for everyone, but our daughter hated the chaos of a typical daycare. A Child's Place…read morehas provided her a structured and safe learning environment where she is free to express her emotions. The staff has expectations of the parents which requires an adjustment period, but it is intended to provide the children consistency throughout their day. This school promotes a pacifist culture rather than an aggressive one. The curriculum leverages a student's interest to cultivate their natural abilities. For example, students interested in art can spend more time doing art while students more interested in math can focus on math. This allows the children to define themselves. Conflict resolution is also built into the culture and no staff member ever raises their voice at the children. The facilities do not have a commercial feel to them like most daycares. Operations are very transparent and not governed by corporate policy. COVID-19 created some hurdles but those were widespread. I can't imagine sending my child anywhere else.

I hate to have to make this review but I would want to know these things as a parent. My daughter…read morestarted at this location when she was only 2 months old. We stayed until she was almost 3 but were already planning to leave due to high staff turnover, staff not helping us parents with potty training (using changing tables and diapers while we use the potty and underwear at home for example), and dirty bathrooms. I had let the director know we would be withdrawing. The day I did this, the unthinkable happened. The last straw and the day I took my child out for good was last week when I arrived to pick up my child (2 years old) and I found her ALONE IN A CLASSROOM. No adult anywhere nearby (none in the front or adjacent classrooms as all the classes were outside). Another parent witnessed this. My daughter told me "my friends left me" then said "a monster was going to get me" when I asked her what happened before she was left. I walked outside and found her class and teacher (as well as an ex teacher who was there visiting?) . When I confronted her teacher there was automatic lies about some person who wasn't even there and shouldn't have been alone with my child regardless. A bunch of excuses. The director was apologetic but the next day stated "she was only alone for 3 minutes" which even if that was true, was only because I showed up. I did report this center to the state and to corporate. This center was good once upon a time but needs major help. We will never use this center again.

As a mother, I don't write reviews lightly--especially about a school. But I feel a responsibility…read moreto speak up because a child's emotional safety matters just as much as academics. My experience at University Christian School left me very concerned about the way some situations were handled, specifically in interactions involving Jeleen Del Valle. On more than one occasion, I witnessed a tone that felt harsh and intimidating toward students, including yelling. As a parent, it is painful to watch children being spoken to in a way that can embarrass them or make them feel afraid. I also felt disrespected as a parent during communication. Instead of calm, professional conversation, I experienced dismissive responses and a tone that did not reflect patience, empathy, or partnership with families. When parents raise concerns, we should feel heard--not talked down to. Another concern was what appeared to be favoritism, where certain children received gentler treatment while others were corrected in a more aggressive way. In a school environment--especially a Christian school--every child should feel equally valued, protected, and treated with dignity. I truly hope the administration takes parent concerns seriously and improves accountability and communication moving forward. Families deserve a school environment where children feel safe, respected, and supported--every single day.

From the very first email, Steffaney made us feel like we were the most important family she was working with. She answers every question promptly, thoroughly, and with such warmth--it's as if she responds with love and light in every message. Transitioning into a new school, especially high school, can be overwhelming, but Steffaney has made the experience smooth, welcoming, and honestly, joyful. Her attentiveness and kindness made my daughter and I feel not just seen, but valued. She has truly set the tone for what we hope will be an amazing school journey. As a Dean of Students for DCPS, I've worked with countless professionals in education--but Steffaney stands out. Her proactive approach and genuine care for each family are qualities I'll be taking back with me to my own district. She is truly a light, and any school is blessed to have someone like her representing it. I am beyond impressed and deeply grateful. Thank you, Steffaney, for everything!

My biggest concern with my son starting at a big boy school was that he has so many allergies and if not caught on time can be severe. Nurse heather has been with him all these years and is always on top of his medication when a reaction is about to happen. She will call me every time and update me and let me know he is okay, she has been my life saver and has help put that anxiety at ease. All of the teachers he's had also know about his allergies and are very on top of it as well. They make sure parents who want to bring in treats (Valentine's Day, birthdays, etc) know that it is an allergy classroom and give us alternatives to bring in. All the staff are friendly and try very hard to remember every student and parent. The principal is so involved with the students day to day school life and is always around the halls chatting with the kiddos. My son absolutely adore his principal, very different experience from mine (I barely knew my principles). Overall this is a wonderful school with wonderful staff that make your kids feel safe, happy, and want to go to school. They also have a preschool program and I can't wait for my baby girl to attend there when it's her time!!

They have great teachers but the people…read morewho run the school are not in the best interest of the children and just coverup for one another. Don't expect accountability, only expect lies and coverups when you have issues. They lied about my daughter making the cheer team after she was bullied and removed her from the cheerleading team and allowed the bullies to be apart of the team but told my daughter, the victim she couldn't attend. From The Principal, to the Assistant Principal to the Guidance Counselor to the Dean all heard my issue and ignored my issue and we reported a bullying claim against the child and the school went 14 days without even documenting the issue even though the Principal, Assistant Principal and Guidance Counselor all stated that it would be filed when the incident happened but were untruthful because I didn't know the official process so I couldn't tell if it had been filed or not. Once contacting DUVAL County School Board (Which only takes the bullying reports and document them.) now all of a sudden they want to handle the bully report like they were supposed to weeks ago, I also reached out to the Charter Schools corporate office and no one ever responded. I left voicemails and emails but no one cared. I literally had the fight for my child to be out the class with the bully's and the administrators were so frustrated that they were removing her that I believe in part that's why they retaliated against my daughter. They say they want parental involvement but when they get it they don't want it. I told them I want to volunteer and I'm DUVAL County Approved Volunteer. They have yet to respond. I now know why the morning and afternoon drop off and pickup line is so horrible and I feel it's because the administration. They did my child wrong a 10 year old who reported getting bullied and kids were spreading rumors that she had lice in her head and as she was trying out for cheer they were bullying her saying means things. She reports the incidents and are some how removed from the cheer squad because of it. Very poor leadership. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone although they have great teachers I'm now hearing from other parents that they've had to also remove the kids from the school because they were getting bullied, the administrators turns a blind eye to bullying.
