This company was contracted out by my Home Warranty to replace my air conditioner. He seems unprofessional in his dealings. There is only one man that works here and he does not answer his phone the first 3-5 calls, ever and he was late to every single appointment. I left multiple voicemail and he doesn't respond in a timely manner, which i consider about 24-48 hours. I paid the "uncovered costs" to him when he installed the unit last November, which is a number that he decides to charge me based on haul away of my old unit and modifications that need to be done to hook up the new unit (a number totally dictated by him). The unit was installed November 30, 2015. He could not check the working order of the unit at the time due to the low temperatures, which was out of his control since the Home warranty took so long to approve the installation. When I turned it on this spring (first of April), the unit didn't work properly. He refused to come look at it unless contracted out by the home warranty again. The home warranty sent him a work order the first week of April and he came out the next week (which confirms that he received an email from the home warranty). The problem was a defective TXV (which he decided within a minute of arriving to my house). He proceeded to give me the run around for a month and half. Every time I called he stated that we were waiting for a part to come in then he would be able to come fix my unit. On 6/3/16, (two months later) he scheduled that day to come out and replace the part. Once he arrived (an hour late) he told me that the part would not fix my unit and I actually need a new evaporator coil because the one he put in in November, would not work properly in my system. I got hold of the home warranty 6/15/16 only to find out that there was never a claim placed on the unit and nothing was on file about a malfunctioning part. I waited till the end of June on the evaporator coil, and then I went and purchased and had installed a different AC unit from my own contractor instead of using Affordable Heating & Cooling (contracted out by the Home Warranty). My new unit was installed 6/29/16 by a different contractor. They stated that the job performed by the previous installer was very poor. Keep in mind this was after they had obtained my business and the installer's knew nothing about the previous installation. They simply stated that as they were leaving for the day for my information. Affordable heating and cooling charged me $315 and he refuses to reimburse me that money because it is "unfair" to hold him accountable for still not having a working AC unit by the end of June. I attempted to resolve the issue directly with him, but he would not budge on his decision to refuse reimbursement. Therefore, he has an unsatisfied customer. He claims his job is to only install the equipment that was ordered for him by the home warranty (which he told the home warranty what to order) and he has nothing to do with whether the equipment functions or not. I believe there is a lack of good faith here and I feel that I have been lied to by him. The warranty company has stated that the $315 was his charge, therefore they cannot refund that amount since it was paid directly to him. He says "the work was completed and cannot be undone, so it is "unfair" to ask for reimbursement." I think there is more to it than that. I would not recommend hiring Affordable Heating and cooling if you are giving the option (I was not given an option by the Home Warranty Company). read more
