These people are scammers stay away from them. I told them I wanted a cleaning because I'm getting a new hot water heater. The woman on the phone kept insisting it will included an evaluation. I didn't want an evaluation. I wanted a chimney sweep before my water heater installation. The charge would be $219. Two guys came with a vacuum and vacuumed the bottom of my chimney. I show them the pipe and the soot below. One guy says that they are only required by code to do one foot below the pipe. One guy says that I need a chimney liner and that it's required by code, and they won't install my hot water heater without it. I ask how much a chimney liner would cost and he says from $3600-$4000. They never did work on any other part of the chimney. I show the guy my attic, but he doesn't do any other chimney cleaning. They are supposed to use a ladder and clean the chimney from top to bottom. That's what I paid for. I get my hot water heater installed. I ask the installer if it required to do any permits. The hot water heater installer said it's only required for a new hot water heater, not for a replacement. So, the chimney person lied about that. I use the shower, and then I went to the basement. I smell burning. I check the chimney bottom and there is still alot of soot in the bottom of the chimney. Now, I will have to call another company to clean the chimney. Never use these guys. They were supposed to do the chimney sweep, but then they tried to scam me into getting an expensive chimney liner. read more

I've done business with these guys twice now. The first time, it was shortly after purchasing a newly renovated house that included a brand new heating system. Instead of a standard cleaning I got the surprise of my life when I was told the flue wasn't safe ... there were cracks in the liner for the furnace flue allowing exhaust back into the house, including carbon monoxide. (The carbon monoxide detectors weren't going off because they had been disabled by the contractors because ... drum roll... they kept going off!!!). The fireplace was a fire hazard as it's clay liner had completely collapsed and was in pieces in the clean-out accessible in the basement. Having just purchased and renovated a house, I didn't have the cash to the entire job at once. They installed a liner for the furnace and I'm now hiring them to do the liner, waterproofing and brickwork for the fireplace flue. They are expensive, but they are thorough and provide an upfront written estimate. I did get other quotes... 3 verbal and 1 written quote that found absolutely nothing wrong with the fireplace flue but claimed the liner for the furnace was "incorrect" (it meets code). I only mention this because quality, honest, work is expensive and many of the chimney sweeps with stellar reviews here on Yelp won't provide a written estimate. Spend the money. You won't be sorry. Voting 4 stars for now based on how things hold up going forwards but I was very impressed by this company and the work they did for me. I had noticed some crumbling brick from my chimney and called 2 companies to quote me on chimney repair and to install a cap. The Affordable quote for the chimney repair portion was about half of the cost of the competitive quote. That is not necessarily always a good thing but the Angies List rating was high so I chose them to do the work. Jeff who performed my repair showed up on time and gave me a copy of their insurance coverage upon request. They repointed and waterproofed my damaged masonry, replaced 3 bricks from my chimney (the quote mentioned 1) and installed a cap in about 4 hours. Jeff left the area and my roof clean from what I can tell. The final price was the price in the original estimate even though the contract says the final price can vary based on what happens during the job. They ask for 50% up front and 50% upon completion.
