Learn from my $3,000 mistake! I hired Honey Bee Joe (yes, calling them out), and the experience was terrible. They left a huge mess, did incomplete work, and when I confronted them, I got the runaround. They charged me over $3,000 for two people and a scissor lift and still didn't finish the job properly. I can't recommend Affordable Bee Services enough! We noticed a number of bees circling around our roof in our residential home over the last few months, and reached out to the owner, Scott, for a quote for removing an in-roof hive. Due to the location of our hive, this removal would be tricky, but Scott was super communicative, and assured us that their team was not only experienced in cutting into roofs to extract the bee hives, but they also seal and repair the roof when they're done. Once we noticed a bunch of bees swarming under the corner of our roof, I took pictures and videos and started calling around. Of all the people I talked to, Scott was the most thorough in his description of the work involved. I scheduled a day for removal. And on the day, his colleague Carlos came right on time. He took a look at the area from both outside and inside the home and used a thermal imaging device to confirm that the hive hadn't gone into our walls (thankful it hadn't!). Next he started work. Our hive was 5 hours of work, on our roof, in 100 degree heat, folks. During that time Carlos opened up a part of our roof, completely removed the hive, cleaned out the area, painted all of it and applied their bee repellent, repaired and resealed the roof. He also gave us some of the comb from our hive. I'd say it was worth the price. Carlos himself is a very calm, soft spoken guy. Probably the demeanor you need when handling bees. I want to mention that some bee removal services can't remove hives inside the home, probably due to the repair work involved. Another highly rated bee removal service charged to do the initial thermal imaging exam and to just put down bee repellent. The guy said it might kill off the bees, but it was a busy time and they couldn't save them all. If the hive was big, he would then remove it, and that would be an additional fee. So, all in all, Affordable Bee Services was the most straightforward in the service they offered, they did what they said they would, AND they saved the bees. One afternoon, about a dozen bees suddenly appeared in my garden and were swarming over my garden hose spigot, making it impossible to use the faucet. Uninvited Guests. We had some bees move in under our shed about 3 months ago. At first it didn't bother us too much and then I got stung! I highly recommend this company! My husband had noticed bees entering the wall of our garage through a gap created when the irrigation system for our landscaping was installed. He tried spraying, and sealing the gap, but they still seamed to be able to find a way in. Affordable Bee Services was recommended by our monthly pest services. Scott returned my request for a quote promptly, and we scheduled a date and time for the removal of what he was sure was a bee hive. The two gentlemen assigned to do the work arrived on time, and prepared. Carlos explained what they would do, and the expected results. The location of the hive was located, they prepped the area to protect my garage and it's content, and they proceeded to open the wall! Wow, was I shocked! They videotaped the actual opening up, and I could not believe how large it was! The hive was then removed, boxed up to be relocated elsewhere. I appreciate this company because they did NOT come to my home. A month ago I had a swarm of bees flying in and out of an old vent on the side of my house. I called one company and they quoted me a LOT of money to tear up the stucco and remove the hive the next day. Several hundred dollars.
