I had to have the sewer pipes replaced in my front yard. A few years ago Rotor Rooter replaced some pipes. They dug up the street by my house & replaced pipes that tapped into the city line. They were supposed to replace pipes all the way to my yard. They charged me $8500.00 to do that and promised me when I needed to replace the rest of the pipes in my yard they would not need to dig up the street again. So I called them this year when I had to replace the pipes in my yard (they told me it was an emergency because I had a broken pipe, which was actually a lie) They told me there was still 6 ft. of pipe in the street that was not finished & could not figure out why they didn't fix it last time. It would cost $12,000.00 but they would only charge me $8500.00. What??? So I found another guy who would do the work without digging up the street by shooting a liner in the street. This guy kept putting it off because it was not an emergency. A coworker had given me a flyer for Afford A Rooter so I called them. Trevor was very easy to work with. He looked at the pipes with a camera like the other guys did. He agreed to try to fix everything without digging up the street for less than half of the price of Rotor Rooter. The work was scheduled immediately according to everyone's schedule and was completely done, inspected & cleaned up in one day. The only negative is that they could not replace about 2 ft. of pipe in the street w/o digging up the street. If Rotor Rooter would not have cheated me that would be done. I am very happy with Afford A Rooter. Trevor worked very hard to show his company was honest & hard working and serious about getting the job done right. Couple weeks ago I contacted this company and asked to check a electrical water heater of my rental property. They sent out a technician named Jason to the place. Jason called me back later and claiming the water heater was bad, and some parts were bad too. It needed a completed replacement and offered at $1,800.00 for him to do it. I did not think too much and agreed to charge at my credit card. Later Jason called back said the bank did not agree and did not pay. I checked with them and they suggested that the price was a bit strange. I understood what they meant so I quickly contacted Home Depot to do another inspection. Home Depot checked on Saturday 5/13 and came back with complete different diagnosis. They said they could not tell my water heater was working properly or not, because there was a power issue from the power board. There is no power to run the water heater. After power issues addressed, then they can check the water heater. 5/15 I had a electrician to check and have no problems since. I called Afford-a-Rooter on 5/15 and asked why Jason could be so wrong and hid the truth from me then push ahead to replace a new water heater. The reception hung up my first call, in my second call, just kept on repeating that was Jason's opinion. I am very dissatisfied and stopped the conversation. I believe Afford-a-Rooter is acting as a cheater, over servicing to maximize their profits. They encourage their representatives to cheat, blind eyes on problems and just push forward for big money replacements. I want to report that to the government and let general public know that and stop doing business with them. read more

Wow - just wow! So it's after 7pm on a Friday night. Husband is in the shower, and my youngest kid says "why is there water in the hall?" I thought the water heater was leaking, but Nope! It was the sewer line backing up through the drain in the water heater closet. First - clean up the mess and shut off the water to the house. Second - call my insurance company to find out what to do. Third - find a plumber who won't charge a fortune and can make it to my house preferably tonight, definitely by tomorrow. First place I called didn't have an available time until Saturday afternoon. Second place was closed. Third place was Afford A Rooter. I called and left a message. Trevor called me back pretty quickly, and I was pretty brash with him. I told him what happened and told him I didn't want to get screwed over. He was patient, told me what the cost should be, told me what the cost would be if it took longer than expected, and told me he could send someone out right away. Great - let's do it. Justin was at my house before 8:45, and in about 45 minutes, he had taken care of the sewer line backup. The cost was exactly as quoted over the phone. Afford-a- Rooter was wonderful to work with and did an excellent job on my sewer line replacement. Trevor provided a straightforward proposal and scheduled the work to begin very soon after. His price was competitive with the lower of two other bids I received. The job was complicated by landscaping that ran over the placement of the clay pipe originally installed with my older home. The two other estimators concluded that the "trenchless" repair was not possible and that my hardscaped patio would be dug up and I would likely lose a beautiful, mature tree that shades my entire back yard. Afford-a-Rooter was able to do the pipe bursting technique which required digging two holes, one close to the house where the iron and clay pipes met and one near the connection to the city main. Felix and his crew were wonderful. They worked diligently, communicated well and did an excellent job of repairing the access areas when they finished with the new line. Clean up was better than I expected it would be. It is a relief to have that work done. With roots intruding in the clay pipe for many years, eventually the integrity of the pipes was becoming seriously compromised even with regular rootering. I am pleased to have found Afford-a-Rooter and recommend them highly for sewer line repair/replace or for any plumbing needs. read more

Trevor runs this outfit, He is honest and and his crews do great work and they are fast. With less than 30 minutes notice, He got the permits and the equipment arranged, and the crew scheduled for a next day repair. He had his crew setup to replace the main sewer line from the house to the city tap the next day. I was originally going to replace the line from the house to the curb, due to tree roots from a city tree. After further diagnosis it was determined that the whole line would need replacing. The original estimate was recomputed and due to the line now needing to go from the house to the city connection in the middle of the street. He gave me a great price for the pipe bursting repair that was done and I would suggest anyone that needs this type of repair to get a few estimates and he will beat them. What you will get is a prompt response and the line will be back in service quickly. The crew was very careful with protecting the property and they were neat and worked hard all day long to finish this repair. I cant say enough for that way Trevor conducts his business he is a credit to the profession, and a godsend to the homeowner. Sub-zero overnight temperatures coupled with the relatively exposed location of the main water line in our house resulted in us waking up to a burst valve. Since this was our first time in need of the services of a plumber--and in an emergency situation at that--we hastily consulted Yelp and took a chance on Afford-A-Rooter. As I had already left for work, the remainder of this testimonial is by my wife's account: Trevor arrived within an hour of the call and promptly diagnosed the problem, explained what needed to be done to fix it and provided an estimate. Not only did he finish the job in a timely fashion, he even corrected a design flaw by the homebuilder related to the valve-shutoff lever (one that I myself had previously recognized). We were introduced to Afford-a-rooter recently when the warranty plumber couldn't figure out what was wrong. They brought in these guys. Steve was the gentleman that showed up. I cannot tell you how long it has been since I can sincerely state that I would readily recommend this company but especially Steve. He was very knowledgeable, respectful, displayed high morals and ethics. It is rare to find tradesmen that have ethics any more. Most just want to fix the visible issues and get out of the warranty period. That's exactly what happened here. The warranty plumber couldn't fix or even diagnose the issue. They brought in Steve who quickly determined a lack of pitch in the drain line causing backflow. He told the owner of the warranty plumber but he refused to believe it and said to just fix the visible drain issue. Steve was very honest and communicated exactly what was wrong and what to do to correct. We have since contacted the warranty company and the builder to discuss. The issue is still outstanding with a section of our basement floor jackhammered up. Regardless my goal was to thank and praise Steve and Trevor for providing such a standup service. Major kudos. We had tree roots invading our sewer line and the line needed to be repaired/replaced soon before a catastrophic backup might happen. We had a different company do a video scope of the sewer line and gave us a quote that was around $18,000 for a regular trench replacement of the line (which would severely damage our landscaping), or even more expensive for a "burst" line replacement (which would minimize landscape damage). We asked Afford-A-Rooter for a second opinion. They reviewed the video and agreed that work needed to be done. Their quote came in at much less ($7,200) than the other company's quote, and they said they would charge the same whether it was a regular trench replacement or a "burst" line. So they saved us well over $10,000. They were able to schedule the work at a time convenient for us. As it turns out, it started snowing on the day they scheduled the work, but the crew still showed up and they worked hard and respectfully throughout the day (it was very cold and damp), and did better cleanup than I expected and they repaired a sprinkler line that they had to cut to reach the sewer. On Saturday, 3/19/2022 , I called Afford-A-Rooter to install a refrigerator shut-off valve so that my new refrigerator could be installed. I had also mistakenly shut off the hot water valve in my basement that started to leak. Jason came within the time frame he told me and fixed the leaking valve in my basement, completely replacing it with a new one. He also installed a refrigerator shut-off valve for me. He only had a plastic valve with him. It may have been better to wait and get the right valve because the plastic one started leaking overnight. I didn't find out until the next day. By then, my hardwood floor was completely ruined with the water dripping from the leaking valve. On Monday, I called and texted Jason multiple times without getting a hold of him until I called the main office. I told him about the leak and sent the pictures I took of my kitchen floor. He came by after a few hours and replaced the leaking valve with a proper valve. I'm grateful for his help, but half of my kitchen floor is now ruined and unrepairable. I'm disappointed that the valve installation wasn't done correctly the first time as advertised, especially after paying $300 for the service. read more

I had a sewer back up in my rented finished basement, which left me scrambling to find a plumber this morning. I was joyfully greeting by Sue who seemed happy to take my call even though it was nearly 8:00 am. She reassured me I wouldn't have hidden fees and could expect someone between the hours of 11am-12pm. I had standing water in an unfinished basement, called these guys and they were there the next day. The plumber struggled with his machine and eventually left and came back with another rooter machine. He spent a least a few hours and did not leave until he cleaned out my drain as best he could (without any additional charge). There was a difference in what I was quoted over the phone and what the service man charged me though. I let my displeasure with this difference be known to the service person and I soon received a call from Trevor stating he wanted to insure I was pleased with their service and clear up any discrepancy. After our discussion, I was promptly mailed a check for the difference. These guys are 'gold' in terms of punctuality, service and satisfaction. Afford-a-Rooter has helped me out twice in the last month or so. In my home, I discovered that I had a leak at the main line from the city. Of course it happened on Labor Day, when most places weren't able to come out. SUE...AKA...THE RACIST thought she had put me on mute and was telling someone in the office she couldn't understand me and I should have stayed in my own Country. Diego and Alonzo were awesome! Very polite, very efficient and thorough. They fixed a kit on our toilet that wouldn't flush hardly at all. They also fixed a leak under a sink and while doing so noticed that a pipe required glueing. They checked a shower that doesn't work and determined it is a major fix that requires tearing out tiles. On my request we are leaving it unrepaired, we don't use the shower. Afford-A-Rooter has been outstanding! They called because they were running behind schedule, which was great, and they were only 25 minutes late. We also had them repair our main sewer line 2 weeks ago. Wholly Positive Experience. Needed a sewer line replacement. Trevor, the owner, answered the phone right away each time I called. The crew that did our work was excellent: on time, professional, courteous, friendly, helpful, hard working - all good things and everything you want. These guys were incredible. Trevor was great to work with to do my estimate, and he explained everything thoroughly and answered my questions. Originally I had an estimate from Planet Plumbing and it felt like I was treated "like a girl".
