(Sept 30th) We used them in Feb 2026 and had a good experience so called them again in Sept 2026 for basically the same issue which was our basement was flooding from the drain by our furnace. However, this has thus far been a disaster. First the guy we spoke with in the evening did not give our message to their office staff so no one called us back the next day. We then called and they said they didn't get any message about our issue. We made an firm appointment on Friday, Sept 19th but then they rescheduled for Saturday the 20th which we were not happy about but managed. Adam came (he was the same technician we had in Feb 2026) and we thought the issue was fixed but today (Tuesday, Sept 30th) our basement is flooding from the same drain. My husband talked (argued) with both Melissa and Sue who are saying that Adam only scoped our drain and this is now a different issue which will cost an additional $300-$400. We are well within their 30 day warranty period and my husband told them that we basically just told Adam to "fix it" and did not tell him to only "scope it" or limit what needed to be done in any way as they are the experts. It's the same drain, the same problem, and Adam did roto-rooter it back in Feb 2026. They charged us the same $189 that they charged us back in Feb so what is different??? Additionally, their add says they have emergency response yet Sue said that Adam was not available until later in the afternoon tomorrow. The conversation got heated so now they are refusing to send anyone. I called their office back and requested from both Sue and Melissa that the owner (Trevor H) call us. Stay tuned, we'll see if he does. Lastly, right now I would not even give them a 1 Star review but that was my only choice. (Oct 1st) To his credit, Trevor did call me back this morning. Initially, the conversation was not productive and somewhat contentious but it did end well. To back up, Adam also had called us 1st thing this morning and was ready to come to our house, but I informed him that because Sue told us that she was not going to send him to our house, we called another company and paid them an emergency fee plus their normal fee to come the previous evening and they fixed the problem in about 20-25 min. This indicates an issue with miscommunication between their office and their plumbers in the field. Bottom line, Trevor and I agreed that tempers flared on both sides which ultimately resulted in a situation that did not get resolved. Our issue the entire time was that they should honor their 30 day warranty and come back and fix it. Regardless, Trevor gave me his personal cell # and said I could call him directly in the future. I can't thank Trevor, Sue, Robin and the crew enough.. They saved me a ton of money and the quality of work was excellent. Unfortunately, I had a backed-up sewer line on New Year's Day and was a bit in a panic. I originally reached out to a company who had done work for me previously, but something just didn't feel right this time. Bottom line, this "other" company was taking advantage of me, Trevor knew it and indicated that he wanted to help and that he did. Sue responded quickly to my questions, gave me Trevor's direct line and he was out to my house within a few hours to assess my situation. He also provided estimates for the work already done by the previous company. This was extremely helpful for me so that I wouldn't get overcharged for those services as well. Robin then jumped in to get "emergency permits' filed and kept me updated the entire time. The crew arrived on schedule (early actually) completed the work without "rushing" and cleaned up beautifully. Most of all Trevor and Sue really helped me when I was in a tight spot with a company who was going to overcharge me a ton . Thank you, Sue, Robin, Trevor and crew, for helping restore our plumbing. Unfortunately, these days it's not always easy to know who to trust, but as soon as Sue responded I knew this was an honest company. Once I met Trevor, and talked to Robin, that sealed the deal. We had a toilet start backflowing into the shower on a Monday. If you're looking for the summary, Afford-A-Rooter has all of the customer service you expect and they keep their promises. Their plumber fixed what two others couldn't. Jason Dodge, you have saved our family visit just in time for Christmas! We had two plumbers come out to fix our issue, both failed to show up for appointments and both failed to fix the issue when they finally did show, saying that they may need to rip up the pipe for a blockage 3 feet in. When I called Afford-A-Rooter on a Friday afternoon, Brittany (apologies for misspelling) quickly answered and lined me up for Saturday service, clearly explaining the weekend rate and giving me a quote that was exactly what I paid. And a 2-hour arrival window! Jason showed up right in the middle of the window, and he listened to my story and upon cameraing the pipe, realized that due to the tight angles, he'd need a smaller snake to find and clear the blockage. Weary because the other two plumbers had done the same thing, I let him try. Sure enough, he was expert enough to bring the proper equipment, and he quickly found and cleared the plug that had eluded the other two plumbers. He reinstalled the toilet and checked the flow for a few flushes, to ensure he was leaving me working. Gave me his number in case something went wrong, too. I'll say that I've had really bad experiences with contractors and services since Covid with a very small percentage of exceptions. Afford-A-Rooter has restored my optimism. After a few years of timely and good service, Afford-a-Rooter ghosted us for no apparent reason. Based on their previous work and recommendations, I called them a few months ago to have them do our annual main line cleaning... after leaving *three* messages that went unanswered, I went with another company. When one of our lines backed up into our basement yesterday, I gave Afford-a-Rooter another try since they claim to have 24/7 service. Despite the promise on their voicemail to call back quickly, it's been 22 hours and still no return phone call. (EDIT: 3 days later, still no return call.) Good customer service starts with communication. I'm disappointed that Afford-a-Rooter fell down so badly -- and multiple times -- after such a promising start. read more

Trevor and team were able to replace the water line from the house to the street.. the folks were professional and clearly knew what they were doing.. If you do end up hiring them, here are some tips: - Get everything in writing - Do not expect them to honor their promises - Call the week before, the day before, and the day they're supposed to come to make sure they don't flake on you - Hire a separate company to inspect their work - Call your city to find out if the work needs a permit I'll spare you the 900-word essay. Ok. So I feel compelled to write this due to one main issue. Her name is Sue. A few months ago, I called to see about getting our water heater replaced with a tankless and having them come out to scope our lines. When I called I was transferred to a woman named Sue. When she finally stopped speaking to someone in what I assume is her office, she seemed instantly annoyed that she was speaking to me. As I was trying to ask questions, she was exceedingly rude and condescending. I was literally in shock for the length of time I had to be on the phone with her. I asked to speak to her manager several times and she hung up on me. As I own my own business, I cannot fathom having someone with zero customer service skills speak to potential clients the way she did me as she is the face of the business. Not true to their contract nor their word - don't recommend doing business with them! We had our sewer line replace. Was told that the concrete would be repaired and the sprinklers/fence would be back to the way it was. We are still waiting for the rest of the concrete to be repaired - left multiple messages and even spoke with the office staff that said they would call back, but never did. When it came to "putting back the sprinklers", our sprinklers still aren't working (and they previously were) and the response I got was - well we only say that we will put them back...I guess that means they don't have to work as they did!? Just an overall sloppy job. It's like pulling teeth to get them to do anything and we are still waiting for the concrete and sprinklers to be fixed months after the sewer line was finished. To start with, I called several different plumbing company's and was very overwhelmed by the lack of quotes, not wanting to deal with my difficult plumping issues as well as straight bullying to take on their company. After reading reviews, I called very upset and the front desk lady was extremely sympathetic to my challenges, and said she would send her best man out... Luis. Luis was one if not the best people we have dealt with during problems that arise as a home owner. He quickly and quietly came to our home, didn't wake the baby during a nap and completely solved our major plumbing issues and back up. I visited a friend yesterday to help around her house. She is a mature lady (she says she's immature, just old). I'm not super handy, but one of her sinks was draining slowly so I did a quick snake to unclog the pipe. She was so relieved and told me about having to call Afford-A-Rooter just over a year ago to unclog her kitchen sink. It cost her $889! She said he (she did not recall his name) did show up on time, and had to take the garbage disposal out and called it a deep clog. He said he also reconnected the pipe from the dishwasher "better", but almost $900?! She said he was there for an hour, left for lunch, then came back to finish -- a total of about four hours. However, he talked a lot, went to his truck for tools (one of which he left under the sink) and kept saying she must have put something bad down the drain. Sounds to me like Afford-A-Rooter took advantage of a little old lady. If you use them, and I clearly don't recommend that, make sure you get a estimate first. read more

We contacted Afford-a-Rooter because we had them do work for us several years ago. They did a great job back then, so we contacted them again to determine why our sewer line was clogged. Their representative came in and ran a camera down the line and it was obvious that it needed replaced. We asked the rep about such things as landscaping, lawn replacement, and sprinkler repair. He said that other than replacing the damaged lawn, the landscaping and sprinklers would be repaired. The crew came out and did a great job replacing the sewer line (in one day) but they didn't repair the sprinklers correctly. With several severed water lines they "guessed" how to re-attach them. Now, we have two sprinkler heads that won't shut off at all and many of the other sprinkler heads are running off the wrong station. I had to cap off the ones that were on full-time just to use the others. We have tried to get this resolved through the original rep but, so far, just excuses. He told us that he'd have the owner call us but that hasn't happened. So, I will stand by my rating and see if the company will even try to resolve my issue. If they do, I will give them a better rating and re-write this review. read more

I initially used this company to fix my sewer line. They came out and fixed it on time and at the agreed upon price. Trevor was hard to get a response from and a bit flaky. I needed a couple of additional items repaired. I called the office to get someone else to come out. Jason came out and spent a couple hours. I received a bill for his work and it was totally out of line. He told me that he charges $150 to $200 per hour for his services. I've used several reputable plumbers over the years. I have never been charged $150 - $200 per hour. Beware of this company. read more

Afford-A-Rooter was recommended by our contractor. We made appt on 11/10 for 11/11 between 9-11 with an estimate of 180-200. Noon and no one arrived and no call. We left message and ended up speaking with Natalie. Blah blah new computer system let me see what we can do. Called back and said between 3-5. Great (not so much) .... I explained that I have an appt that I made in September at 4 pm. Natalie said "Let me see who is in the area." Called back and said someone was finishing up and could be there by 1. Ok, I won't have to cancel my appt. Five minutes later I received a call from Harold stating that he just got to job in Ft, Lupton, it would take an hour and then he could head down. So, he cannot make it by 1. Unless I wanted him to leave the job and come now? I said not necessary and that didn't make good sense. Oh, by the way, it's an 80.00 trip charge and then 180-200 for the service. Hmmm....that is not what we were quoted. I called Natalie back to let her know that Harold could not make it at 1 as she said. Also asked to confirm the charges. She then said that since we are in Highlands Ranch that there is a trip charge on top of the fee. I confirm all of these new details with husband who made the original appt. In the meantime, an hour later Harold calls and says he is wrapping up his call and is heading down. Husband calls Natalie to ask about the difference in what was discussed yesterday. It would have been good customer service to offer to let the fee go in light of the way the day has gone so far. She did not budge on the trip charge so he basically canceled the appointment and arranged for another company to come out between 2-3. Natalie called me after her call with husband to pretty much read me the riot act. "I pulled Harold off of a job to accommodate you!" I said that I did not believe that was the case, that she had not mentioned that trip fee yesterday. She said that since we had a referral, we surely knew that they were located in Broomfield. I said that since she took our address yesterday, SHE knew that we lived in Highlands Ranch. She also said that she did not remember speaking to my husband as she speaks to lots of people. She said that Harold was out front and why didn't I let him in to do the job. (P.S. there is no way he made it from Ft. Lupton in less than an hour.) I said that husband had another company on the way. She said "well, why didn't you think to mention that when we spoke earlier?". That was not the case when we spoke earlier. She also stated that had pulled Harold off of another job to get here. I told her that I did not think that was the case and repeated what Harold said to me. She then let me know that they would mark us down as to never take a call from us in the future. I have to say, this did not hurt my feelings. I wasted an entire day, lost 230.00 to an appt I could not keep, was lied to and then reprimanded over the phone. Bad day for everyone. read more

###CAUTION### Be very careful when using this service. I experienced many problems when hiring them for a pretty basic sewer clean and scope. Something that any sewer professional can provide for much less than they charged. $410 to not clean the line and suggest digging up front yard to install $2500 clean outs even though there was an sewer access in the crawl space. Another sewer company came along and did the job charging me much less than the $410 these clowns charged me (even though they didnt do the job, and wanted another 2500 to attempt the job again). Eclipse Plumbing, Apex, Better Sewer, 101 Plumbing any of these will do a professional job at lower rate than these chuckleheads. If that isnt enough, their techs show up hours before or after the time window. Or at all, as it took two attempts over multiple days to get someone out to charge me 400+ to do nothing. read more

BE CAREFUL with this company. They are not trustworthy, and using them will cost you a lot of money in the long run. They replaced our sewer line about two months ago, and told us we had a 5-year warranty afterwards. Three weeks after the replacement the sewer completely clogged and they refused to do anything about it as what happened "what outside of warranty coverage". They charged us much more than others to fix the issue, and in the panic of the moment we simply went ahead to have the issue solved. This company threatened to put a lien on my home due to a contractor they had business with wouldn't pay them. I paid the contractor, but since the contractor refused to pay them they decided to threaten me. They were fully aware that I paid their business partner, but thought threatening me would then apply pressure on the contractor. I had proof of payment and instead of going directly after their contractor, they decided to threaten me. I know that they would not have legal standing, but the unethical business practice has got to stop. Please be aware of any involvement with this company. Keep all receipts and contact notes if you choose to do business. The company came after me months after the work was completed and paid. read more

I really like these guys, and yet they have not done any plumbing work for me. What? Well, they came out once to clear the exterior sewer line, but I could not find the access due to it having been covered in vegetation. No charge, and he came back the next day when I had located it. He checked the line and it wasn't clogged. No charge... just an interior clogged line, and he explained why other issues were causing our other problems. You bet I'll call them again. When I called, the technician took the time to explain to me what the problem could be after I gave him a description of what was happening with my water. He quoted me a price and even took the time to quote me different prices if there was a worse case scenario. I also liked that the plumber called to let me know he was on his way to the house and the estimated time he would be there. If you have any plumbing issues Trevor and his team are the guys to get. I had a blockage on a friday and really needed not just a snake out but a hydrojetting (not so easy to find). I called various folks and no one would come out over the weekend for this or if they would i needed an external clean-out location (who has that unless they have a new house -- mine was built in 1928). I called Trevor on Saturday morning and he not only said he's work with the clean out in our basement but said he'd be here on SUNDAY am. Buyer BEWARE!! Sorry I made this mistake! We had Trevor and his "team" of rookies replace the sewer line in our 80 year old house. Trevor was mostly professional in his salesmanship, albeit typical cocky contractor attitude, but that's where it ended. I was going to write this review after the initial installation in August of 2019, but was busy finishing up the renovation we had going and then lost interest. Today however we were informed by our tenants that there was standing water in our basement. So I felt it time to let everyone know how poor the service was. The project we hired Afford a Rooter for was to replace the old sewer line and install a rough in for a basement bathroom. The sewer lines were installed, but every one of them (5) had to be adjusted tighter to the wall for a proper finish. After giving them the center lines for the toilet flange, they managed to install the flange in the wrong location - TWICE! Not only that, in the end, the flange was crooked on the floor. The drain for the shower was also not installed in the specified location. The technician's (and I use that word loosely) response was "Well, you can bend the pipe into place when you place the shower pan". REALLY?? Why should that have to be done when they had full access to the broken out floor??? As I am a professional handy man, I just fixed the location and it is working perfectly now. Our current problem is that the rough in for the bathroom sink started leaking after 17 months. The damage to the carpet, padding, walls and trim work is extensive. Easily $1000.00. Not to mention missing several days of work - which no one will pay for. I called Afford A Rooter to see what they might do since we have a 5 year "warranty" and they only offered to fix the leak on the pipe - a PEX crimp that was not checked for spec (I watched them install it) and nothing else. Their response was "We are not responsible for any damages from our workmanship, only the repair itself". THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!! Afford A Rooter WILL NOT stand behind the damages caused by their shoddy workmanship. You are buying a service that involves water - some of it under pressure!! STAY AWAY from this company at all costs! Spend the extra $$ and get a reputable company that actually does a good job and has qualified staff to complete the job. It should be noted that the only time I saw Trevor the owner was for the bid. When things were going sideways during the job and I called him he would not come look at the issues. These guys hire whoever they can find to do the job. What is it to them if they have a failure? It is not their company, and I'm guessing Trevor is only paying them just enough to get the job done. I know this as I discussed the business model with one of the guys they sent to my home. He said "I have another company I need to go work for later today". So, they are not employed by Afford A Rooter but are any sub contractor they can find and in this super busy Denver market, good help is hard to find. Be sure to ask these 2 questions - "Do you actually have certified plumbers on staff?" and "Will you repair any damages cause by failures of your workmanship?" I'm certain, their response will be No to both or yes we have 1 certified plumber on staff, the rest are well, warm bodies... and as far as our liability on damages - YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN! Do yourself a favor and steer clear of Afford A Rooter! I forgot to mention that they argued with me about where to place the shower valve - had to move that too. They were EXTREMELY messy, left steel carbon dust all over the upstairs bedroom where they tied into the sewer line. Tracked mud in all over the basement, the finish on the concrete was so poor it had to be surface ground, and if that wasn't enough, they sold the extra concrete from out underneath the boss Trevor! Said "don't tell the boss"... Very unprofessional. read more

BEWARE!!!! Hire this company ONLY if you want to risk being screwed over. They outright lied to us and tried to bilk $8,500 from us for replacing sewer pipes that are actually 100% fine!!! In brief, I recently hired them to do a sewer scope. I watched along with their tech as he slid the camera line in. He explained to me that every place where our original clay pipe pieces connect and are offset a bit look "really bad" and that because of that our whole pipe, going from the house to the city main line in the alley, needed to be replaced. He also told me that there was a big gap in between where the house PVC pipe should connect to the clay pipe just outside the house and that sewage was pooling in that gap (right near our foundation) and so we needed to fix that asap also. Finally, he also told us there was a tap break where our line connects to the city main line in the alley, which they would have to dig down over 10 feet to fix. He wrote me an estimate of $8,500 to fix the gap, the tap, and to do a "pipe bursting" (aka "trenchless") full replacement of our clay pipe with all new PVC pipe. As it happens, NOT ONE of these things turned out to be true!!! Fortunately, after Googling and informing myself online, I found a 2013 local news report (link below) saying that the city will watch your sewer scope video for free if you get it to them in order to give you a second opinion. After promptly watching the Afford A Rooter video I sent her, the city employee told me our pipes are currently just fine. JUST FINE!!!! WOW!!!! The offsets at the clay pipe connections, she explained, are *supposed* to be offset like that (it makes the pipes more resilient to movement). Had the connections been offset *too much* that would be an issue. But they weren't; they were offset just the right amount. She also watched a video scope they had on file of the main line and, from their vantage, she could tell that the tap connection was not an issue either. (In fairness, this one could possibly maybe have looked like a legitimate issue when seen from a camera running down our house pipe, so it's possible Afford A Rooter was being honest in their assessment on this one, but who knows). In short, the city employee told us we should do a cleaning every year or two and that so long as we did that the pipes should last indefinitely long. And when I hired another company to do a pipe cleaning, their tech watched the Afford A Rooter video and told me the "gap" wasn't actually a gap at all!! It was just a hard rubber/plastic piece that is often used to connect the PVC to the clay pipe. That's it. No gap. So in the end, Afford A Rooter tried to screw us out of $8,500!!!! And Google and the city saved us. Unfortunately, from what I've learned from researching and talking to a handful of other companies is that our experience is not so rare. It's the Wild Wild West out there as far as sewer companies go. And MANY of them are trying to screw people over (and are often successful at it - what do most home owners know about sewer pipes and offsets??). So I decided to write this review to help warn and inform others. Lesson #1: Always have the city double-check your sewer scope video if the company that makes your video tells you that you have an issue. Lesson #2: For your sewer scope, always hire a company that ONLY does sewer scopes (or that does scopes and cleaning) but NOT sewer repairs, too - this way they don't have (direct) incentive to tell you something is wrong when it isn't. Lesson #3: Always get MULTIPLE assessments and bids if it looks like you do need a repair. Before sending the video to the city, we got bids ranging from $8,500 to over $14,000!!! Do not hire this company. They are not "affordable." Technician they sent was arrogant, disrespectful, condescending to myself and he flipped off my neighbor. When I reported this incident to Sue she disregarded my complaint. Technician gave excuses as to why he couldn't complete the work. I would never treat my customers this way.
