They did many of the things they said they would do and many things they did not. I was promised a knowledgable tour guide who not only left us alone in museums but was on line looking for details to tell us about the area. When I got home and found that PBS knew everything it was a huge disappointment to find that the sites we saw were not fully explained. One night the genius was having a wine and I said, "May I ask a question?" He said, "No, I'm off duty." Nice for a person who the day before claimed to be available 24/7. Food options: Sub Standard. Do not book if you're active duty and your schedule is always changing. my schedule change and need to cancel my trip do to ship movement (THAT HAD INSURANCE) and was told there was nothing that could be done. what's the point in buying insurance if you're just going to get scammed out of your money. will never be booking with them again and every time someone ask about them I refer them elsewhere. they don't look out for military. just their pockets. read more

I have traveled with AFC for over 10 years, my favorites are the Mystery Tours. Home pick up. single supplements and seeing others I have traveled with before is great. Overall the tour directors are excellent, a couple, not so great. Favorite directors are Deb, Chris & Pat among others. I just returned from a mystery trip into NY state. I use AFC all the time for domestic and international tours and river cruises. Tour managers are excellent and provide incredible service to their customers. I have been on four river cruises, and I have two more scheduled. I have been to Halifax and the Maritimes, Atlanta, a holiday trip to Savannah and Charleston, and a trip to Detroit, the Grand Hotel, Mackinac Island, and Niagara Falls twice. I have also been to Tuscany. I have used other tour companies in the past, but after my first AFC trip, I never used anyone else. Some of the AFC perks include home and airport pick up. They offer single supplement diiscounts when you book early. They see to your baggage once they meet you at the airport. They provide a level of safe travel that is incredibly eassuring. They also have cash discounts and a new loyalty program. read more

My first trip with AFC was last year. We have toured with Premier for many years. When I received the brochure from AFC last year we immediately signed up. Started with the the Niagara Falls & Grand Hotel tour. This tour is excellent & better than we could ever imagine. I highly recommend it. Our 5 day mystery trip June 23rd to June 27 to Portland ,Oregon was REALLY 3 days. Two days were spent in airports. A 2 or 3 hour trip was an an all day affair because you used SW airlines and had to change planes with wait times. Plus, we had to wait at the airport in Oregon for other people arriving from other cities so we can all come together to go to our hotel. Returning to our homes after the 5 days was the same scene. Get to airport with our group all leaving at different times so once again sitting for hours before our plane leaves. then transferring once again!! Another 15 hour plane trip. Mystery trip gave us no address, map or phone number to navigate the city for a place to eat the first day. The Hilton was really Hilton Embassy suites. Had no idea so my google search brought me to the wrong hotel returning from the restaurant I managed to find!!! REALLY? I'm tired ! Why not a welcoming dinner to meet everyone?? Two dinners and one lunch for a 5 day trip is unkind. Morning breakfasts were fine. Our tour director Debbie was wonderful. She was always happy, kind, understanding and filled with information,, The places we went to were wonderful and the bus driver was an excellent driver . read more

I just returned from my first Mystery Tour with AFc. It was great! This tour went to Portland, OR. It was well organized and the venues we visited were from off the beaten path places to typical tourist spot that you would hope to visit when in a new place for the first time. The hotel accommodations were top notch and so were the meals that were provided by the tour. I highly recommend traveling with AFC. read more

I've been on 4 different AFC Vacations. They were just ok. My biggest complaint is that they fill every seat on the bus (at least 50 people). On my last trip there were several obviously sick people on the bus. They were hacking, coughing, running noses, etc. We were required to rotate seats each day. (let's distribute the germs to everyone!). Both my friend and myself came home with Covid, I'm curious how many others were infected. I will not be using them again and I advise others to think twice about using them. They also go by the name of Premier Travel. BEWARE!!! read more

I'm placing this review because I've had difficulty during Covid and I placed a review on AFC Vacation s and of course the company did not like my review to my knowledge, We have never had a pandemic in modern times that affected the whole world. I had made a reservation for two trips in the USA, I was not vaccinated, so I was unable to participate if they did provide travel during that time. This travel was scheduled just before Covid hit and at 81 years old I felt I had a right to have a refund for numerous reasons. April told me that I had the right to give it to somebody that was approximately $4000 between the two trips. I'm a healthy woman I wanted to live and travel and use this. I might not be alive when Covid was over or too old to travel. So after many conversations with April their customer service representative, one of my trips was refunded to me. I was very grateful for this. One down and one more to go. They did not refund me my money for the travel insurance which I didn't like, but I excepted. I believe the circumstances during Covid were different. I felt it good customer service, and possibly not ever able to take the trip because we didn't know how long it was going to last and actually it lasted a lot longer than we thought because we had never been through it before. Too let you know how this all started I decided that it was time to travel, covid travel was lifted and I wanted to travel. I had a new brochure, and the same trip was considerably higher and I wanted to know if I was going to have to pay the new price. I had vouchers and April told me they were incorrect amounts and I didn't understand that because they AFC sent me the vouchers. Why would the amount be different? April was not budging so after 44 conversations and I decided to contact the president. I looked up the information and contacted Matt and he was very nice and after some time a few more messages, he provided me the kind of customer service that should've been done in the beginning before I had to go to the president of the company. He tried to work with me and finally sent me a final check, reimbursing me for that last trip scheduled before Covid. I found it very interesting, though they still did not give me what the vouchers stated I had coming to me. Why. Customer Service it's very important for all companies and like I said, especially during the Covid when it was just crazy time in our lives, I didn't feel it was fair to keep my money when I wanted it back. Now I have been told by April, that I will never be able to travel with AFC again, Wow, can you believe that they've black balled me‍What kind of customer service is that. I am involved with three senior centers that support AFC they have travel shows and I could be very damaging to the company if I wanted to. I just cannot believe that April has been given the power to make such a statement and enforce it. There are many travel companies to travel with and this company provides a wonderful service. AFC has a service to pick you up at your home. They secure your air travel which is a great service for senior citizens and others. and provide great locations and tours. Why would they keep me from traveling with them? I didn't create this in the beginning, and again it was all because of Covid. They could've returned my money in the beginning, and had the confidence that if I was still alive and able to travel that I would choose them because they provide the kind of service I need and want. I'm an 81 year old woman I'm not going to create any rift if they just would've given me my money back. They have made peace thank you Matt and April for satisfying your customer. You must always remember there are always exceptions to everything this didn't have to happen and you don't need to blackball me from traveling with you again that is unnecessary and still bad customer service. I have been using AFC for many years, and I have always had wonderful experiences. AFC. is my go to travel company. My most favorite aspects of their service are the discounted single supplements, the car service to and from the airport, the awesome and personable tour guides, and their amazing trip itineraries. My trips were Atlanta, Georgia on My Mind; Detroit, Niagara Falls and the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island as well; and Rome and the Country Roads of Tuscany. I am looking forward to three more trips this year. We just returned from our first Mystery Tour. We had so much fun! We didn't even know where we would be going until we got our boarding passes. The itinerary was a secret from venue to venue. Just enough hints were given to get us prepared. It was an action packed 5 days. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. And AFC took care of us. Deb Howard was an excellent tour manager and Mark with Wilson bus company got us around safely and on time. He helped with my handicapped husband's equipment. Every time we got out of the bus, the wheelchair was waiting. When our flight home was cancelled, the team went to work getting us a last minute flight on another airline. I booked a trip to Switzerland for July which was advertised as GD which is Guaranteed Departure. I put a $350.00 deposit down in December 2019 and I asked at the time and was told my money would be refunded if the trip was cancelled. TheJuly 2020 trip was cancelled due to the virus and I was told I would not recieve my money back because it was rescheduled for July 2021. I was told they would refund me $100.00 in about 6 weeks but the $250.00 would be theirs to hold and applied as a credit for another trip. Due to my age and health condition I explained I wouldn't be going on another trip and reminded them that I had been told I would be reimbursed if the trip didn't occur as scheduled. Unfortunately they would not honor their verbal committment and I am out $250.00 of my meager income for this vacation of lifetime. Buyers BEWARE. read more

The sun and sand AFC/Oasis Christmas tour to Palm Springs, Lake Arrrowhead and the Mission Inn in Riverside exceeded my expectations. The tour guide Pat Conway was extremely accommodating and considerate of everyone's needs. Eric drove our bus through steep winding roads with finesse and maneuvered through traffic with ease. We were on time or early for our destinations thanks to both of them. The added feature of home to home transportation made the trip accessible for all ages. Another positive was the low additional fee for single rooms, making it an easy way to travel solo. The professionalism of Pat and Eric plus the interesting choices on the itinerary made it a great trip. AFC offers a variety of other journeys and many of the participants were repeat customers, another indicator of excellence. Thank you! read more

I recently did the Switzerland tour. Amazing! I'd give this 4 stars, except for the fact that our shuttle pickup to airport didn't show up. We also called number to see what was going on and it took 15 minutes just to get ahold of someone. We had to find our own ride so we wouldn't miss our flight. I spoke to some other members of the tour who had similar experiences. This tour is great for a first time traveler as you see so much of Switzerland. Home base was in Wengen which was a small little village very close to a train. Hotel was homey, staff was pleasant. We had a heat wave which is becoming more common with global warming and hotel didn't have fan or air, so if you sleep hot bring a fan. Met some interesting people in group, from many areas in USA. Tour manager was knowledgeable, but could have used a helper with communication at times. I appreciated his casualness about us being independent from group if we desired, and because we stayed at same hotel most of trip it was easy to meet up with group again later. read more

I was quite please with the Mississippi River Paddle-boat trip planned by AFC on the American Duchess. No complaints there. However, what almost ruined the vacation for me and others I traveled with was the home pickup contractor. My pickup time was 3:50 am - yeah - AM! Bags out, ready to go on time-- after several calls to the dispatcher my ride came 40 minutes late. Grrrr. Off to a bad start. In speaking with others in my group, the routes planned zig-zagged all over the county going way out of the way and double backing to get to the airport. The person setting this up needs a good road map. The return home after a nice trip was just as bad. I was not assigned to ride with people that lived close to me, but some that lived in the opposite direction. After a long day of planes and airports, it took 90 minutes to get home instead of 30 minutes. If there is a next time with AFC, I will opt out of the home pickup and go with UBER or Lyft. read more

We took a Mystery Tour with AFC with the idea that these short term tours would be a good introduction to AFC Vacations. 30% of the total touring members came from San Diego. Our tour started with Alaska Airlines having mechanical problems with our plane. We sat in the airport for for 9 1/2 hours until the problem was resolved and we were able to fly. We notified AFC management of our situation early in the day. AFC's solution, wait. This was a mystery tour - we new what city we were flying to but no other information. The original plan was that we would be met at the destination airport by a AFC tour member. No greeting - nothing. Our group spent an hour trying to contact an AFC tour member to find out where we were going and how would we get there. AFC did arrange for transportation to our first hotel, but we had to pay for the ride. Keep in mind we had already paid AFC a sisable amount of money for this tour. My understanding was that AFC would provide transportation to all parts of the venue. AFC apparently has a business model that says anything that happens out of ordinary, they won't take responsibility. That is considered "trip interruption" and each individual will pay the extra charge. You should buy travel insurance and hope you can get reimbursed. Buyer Beware!! I have traveled with other tour companies in this area. We have experienced weather delays and venue issues and they don't leave you swinging in the wind. read more

A friend & I just returned from a 9 day trip with AFC based here in San Diego. It was my first trip with them and I was very very happy with everything. They provide as part of your trip, a shuttle service pickup at your house to the airport, and home again. Our trip was to National Parks in Canada and the US & included Glacier National park. When we arrived in Spokane our guide met us and got everyone aboard the motor coach and took us to our hotel. It was a nice big name hotel (can't remember the name) directly across from a gorgeous river and bridge in Spokane. All the hotels were very good and most included an excellent buffet breakfast. Many meals were included in this trip, so that what we did buy on our own was minimal. Our guide was great. He was very entertaining, knowledgable about the locations (extremely so) and did his best to make sure your trip was fantastic. The sights of that part of the country are unbelievably beautiful, especially the glaciers and the rivers. The best place we stayed in my opinion, was right on the lake at Many Glaciers Hotel. Peaceful and beautiful, no tv (built in 1920 or so), but you felt as though you were in Switzerland. The hotel was built to encourage people to see our country rather than go to Switzerland and spend money over there. No complaints on this trip and I will definetly use this company again, hopefully in 2013. read more

I just returned home from a GREAT trip to Ontario and Quebec with AFC. I've traveled with them on 4 tours and they have all been stellar. I loved the tour manager. It was his first tour with AFC, but has been in the business for many years. His experience expressed just that. I have turned about 25 friends on to AFC since I started 5 years ago, and they all love it as well. I wouldn't travel with anyone else. I also love the new town car upgrade option for the home shuttle. They include home shuttle, which I love, but now you can upgrade to town car for a minimal amount. Great job AFC. Looking at the beautiful new 2014 catalog and going to plan 2 tours next year. read more

Randy responded and took corrective action immediately. I sincerely doubt the issues I experienced will ever occur again.
