Small mom and pop shop way east south in Tamarack. The chicken was lightly battered and very fresh. All the customers at the moment were trades guys. I was there for tenders but the Thursday special was Popcorn chicken with small fries and dipping sauce for 14.99. Usually I dont tey popcorn chicken but made the exceptiom today. Pretty good popcorn chicken. I still would rather chicken tenders. They also have satuday special.. free poutine or popcorn chicken with bucket. I've seen ads for this place on Instagram and Facebook, and decided to try it after having friends suggest it. The menu offerings are pretty simple and straightforward. Breaded chicken in 2-4 PC you can get individually or as a meal with a side and drink. Or you can get those same chicken in bucket quantities from 8 to 32 pieces, that come with sides as well. Sides include gravy, coleslaw, mashed potato or fries that come in regular and garlic option. They also have chicken burgers, poutines, wings in both bone and boneless styles, chicken tenders, all the usual fare you'd expect with a fried chicken restaurant. They also have some vegetarian options for people who might want that. This time we decided to try 8pc meal with garlic fries and gravy. We went with the AFC classic as a baseline. My first impressions were that they had a good crisp to the skin even after driving home. The chicken was juicy without being too oily, which some other fried chicken franchises can sometimes be. The garlic fries are good with the caveat that you can't have too many before it becomes a singular note. I would probably prefer the original style fries but the gravy does save them as gravy does. What more can I say, if you're in the area check them out. P.S. they have a lot of sanitizer available everywhere should you require it. read more

Meh. That's about as good as it gets. Ordered: Popcorn Chicken Meal AFC Classic Wrap Meal Garlic Fries Popcorn chicken was okay. Didn't come with any kind of dipping sauce. Wrap was soggy - filled with sauce and limp lettuce, not a lot of chicken. Fries were tasty so not a total loss. read more

AFC sounds corny for a name, but with all that aside; the people I've introduced this place to have really liked the chicken here or ask me where this place is! In fact my kids like it so much that my husband often brings that home as takeout for the family when I work late. There's lots of parking, it's clean, bright and there's a good amount of seating for a sit down meal. There's no change tables or high chairs, but my kids are able to sit on the wall benches without needing boosters or high chairs. Service is pretty friendly and I like that it's local & close to the meadows rec centre. As a first time visitor, I got a coupon for 10% my next online order or 5% in-store order. I think there are 4 fried chicken flavour options... classic, lemon pepper, franks hot, and spicy chilli. I've tried them all, they are all super crispy and flavour is really good with moist chicken. The batter isn't super thick either and the pieces are a good size too. You get the option of standard dipping sauces too if you need that extra flavour hit. I like the coleslaw & the gravy is not too bad either. Garlic fries were pretty tasty too. Menu options can look overwhelming at first, but they got some good variety for individual meals or for large group sizes. When I came, it took about 15 min for my large order, which I don't mind because food was made to order and was fresher. I even got a sample of popcorn chicken with gravy while I waited which was yum as well. I'll probably give the popcorn chicken or chicken strips a go next time for more kid friendly portions, but they really love that lemon pepper flavour; either way it's a quick win in my family & I'm glad they are available on skip the dishes too! read more

This was surprisingly good! Reminded me of chicken commercials way back so old fashioned fresh big my family was asking right away about a return trip. It took a little while but you could tell they started fully from scratch upon order. It takes me a half hour to cook chicken. Super clean. Big chunks of real chicken fried up perfect. This was super disappointing. I went to the new location off Manning in North Edmonton. The staff were super friendly. There's also some incredible tables that have technology built in to keep the kids busy while they wait. Never seen anything like it. I was impressed with that! That being said, the chicken was disgusting!!!! It tasted like it had been cooked in really old oil. We got 24 wings and I couldn't stomach any of it. We threw it all out. Super disappointing. Very expensive meal for mediocre fries and coleslaw because the chicken was a bust. If chicken is in your title, you need to do it WELL! read more

The fries came out hot , fresh and delicious. The chicken was juicy and hot. The smoky crushed chilli pepper chicken was great! The classic breaded is so-so. Had some at a friend's house was reheated in the air fryer tasted like I just picked it up from the shop! First bite I could taste the spice, simple but exotic, not to thick of a batter I quite enjoyed every bite. My thoughts not your regular franchisee chicken, the spice is different quite different I'd like to order some of other stuff they have there to try :) read more

First time here. The worst fried chicken I ever had in Edmonton. The chicken pieces were really dry. One of the pieces was fried (very well) to the point that it became darkened chicken. I probably won't be going back to AFC, and here's why. I was driving past the restaurant and saw a sign about chicken sandwiches, so that's what drew me in. But then when I got inside I thought I should try their chicken. To me, that was mistake number one, because after I had ordered everything the lady at the counter tells me it's going to be 15 minutes! That's a long time to wait but I had noticed that they advertised free WiFi so I just decided to wait. When I sat down and tried to access the WiFi it asked for a password. So I thought maybe I missed it on my receipt? Nope. Maybe it's somewhere on the wall or on the napkin holders? Nope. No problem I'll just ask the staff. Oh, she's in the back but certainly she'll come back soon, right? Nope. When she brought out to the only other table their orders, one at a time, she didn't even ask them if they wanted anything else, just dropped and ran. So I just decided to do the casual confused guy and hung out waiting for 15 minutes. It was not 15 minutes; more like 20-25. By the time I got my order I was thinking about how long I'd already been on lunch and decided I should just get to eating. By the way, when I paid in advance like you normally do at a "fast food restaurant " the interac machine asked for a tip. So I threw a buck on. When my order was ready she put it in a to go bag without even asking me. Well how do you eat fried chicken on the road? I said I was going to eat in. And why is she not willing to bring me my meal when I just watched her "serve" the other 2 guys, who had theirs to go? Can I have my dollar back? Anyways after the long wait I started into the chicken. That was probably the hottest chicken I've ever had! I had to try and tear into it with the plastic fork and hope it would cool off enough. Yes, I have to admit that the chicken was really good. Had a different taste to it that was quite tasty . I got a corn bun with it which was hard as a rock, so I didn't eat it. The fries were alright I guess. But then I was the only customer left in the place. So you would think that the now not busy staff might come ask me how my meal was? Nope. They would quickly turn away if I was able to establish eye contact. Even when I finished and put my garbage in the container I guess I assumed that they would at least acknowledge my presence or thank me for coming in? Nope. They stayed hidden in the back. Went to this restaurant with a friend yesterday. It's local for me and I like to support new & local. I usually don't have a lot of time to post reviews, but I was so impressed that I had to give this restaurant a great review. Chicken comes in 4 flavors. Original, Franks, Crushed Chili & Lemon Pepper Garlic. There is a kids menu & Halal Chicken available. Cole slaw is pretty basic. Potato salad is tasty & creamy. Fries are good and the gravy is thick and flavorful. My friend had the original & I had the lemon pepper garlic . Chicken is cooked to order so you get hot & fresh about 15 minutes after you order. Loved the lemon pepper garlic. Not too much garlic to overpower the chicken. Very meaty & hardly any fat. I've found some fried chicken at other places( Mary) wayyy to fatty. Will definitely be back. This will be my first choice to bring home a bucket over any one else. read more

Tried AFC during covid crisis as they are open for delivery! We ordered chicken tenders, popcorn chicken, garlic fries, potato salad and coleslaw. The chicken was awesome. It had great flavour and was nicely spiced. The garlic fries tasted really good. I am sure they would be even better if you were able to eat them immediately as they got a little limp (no fault of the restaurant) when boxed for delivery. My husband just threw them in the oven to crisp them up again. The gravy was awesome as well. A note that we had gotten XL fries and it could have fed a small village. We will be using them for dinner on another night. The coleslaw was good but we were disappointed with the potato salad. It looked wonderful but it lacked any seasoning. It tasted quite bland. I really like how with almost everything, you were able to choose a size. That way if there's multiple people eating, can order enough for everyone. I bought a bucket of Chicken, it had a burnt flavour or taste to it and gravy was no good it tasted as if it was bought on some cheap store. Fries were to thick and got soggy over time. Fries weren't cooked properly and the coleslaw was fine. Had to throw it out because it was just inedible. That would be my opinion for this store. read more

The food varied between unremarkable and barely palatable. The gravy appeared to have been made by someone who doesn't like gravy, while the coleslaw tasted like it was made by someone who hates vegetables. The chicken was generic, but tasty enough. The garlic fries were not horrible, despite being overly seasoned. It was O K.nothing more. We were excited to try after reading all of the rave reviews, but unfortunately we were disappointed. Ordered the 4 Flavor bucket. Chicken was not very flavourful, couldn't tell which flavour was which. French fries were extremely greasy. Ordered a medium cole slaw which was a joke for size (although it was good) It was maybe 1/2 cup, the small gravy was probably 1/4 cup. Crazy..we will not order again..would rather have KFC, at least it tastes like something. Spend your money on something else. read more

Hi Edmonton people I would like to share about this restaurant please read whole review this is genuine because I worked in this place..This chicken they were using fresh chicken but they need use after marination or in the box chicken within 3 days once it's delivered from the shipper if it is not used within a time It will starting effective a bacteria called SALMONELLA and E COLI but these people keeping using the chicken until it's get sticky and smelly (specially crushed chilli and franks red hot flavours) are so bad I informed so many time's they don't trust us the employees until owner have to come and check for the decision to keep it or throw it..so please be cautious and take care of your health before you're ordering the food.. read more
