Wow! Having tried…read moremead quite a few times, I've never acquired the taste. Hierophant has completely changed my mind with their elevated versions of this ancient craft. Refreshing flavors that are subtle and well balanced, with varying levels of alcohol. Although I haven't tried all of their 20+ varieties, the ones I've tried were fantastic. If you like the traditional taste of a heavy and earthy mead, Hierophant may be something new to you as well. Great service from the friendly staff in a casual, yet upscale tasting room makes for a very relaxing visit. And there's plenty of parking. I'll be a regular when I'm on island visiting my son and his family. Thank you Hierophant for creating a new and delightful epicurean experience.

He suggested one or two of the meads that we would like and got a couple of glasses to drink while chatting. The place is so spacious but a little on the cold side. I'm sure when there are more people it warms up quite a bit since it's a warehouse like location. They have games you can play with your group and since they do not really sell food besides a few bags of chips you can bring your own food to eat as long as you clean up after yourselves. This was my first time trying mead and I really liked a lot of them! The bubbly ones on tap were lighter and really yummy! I definitely like sweeter drinks, so the dessert ones (black magic and isilu shadow) were high on my list. They had lots of flavors with most of them being fruity. There are a few options for flights, and the choice to try every single flavor! The actual indoor area was pretty small, with only enough room for the bar, one table for 6 and a little bar top seat, and the bathroom. Because of the size, the bathroom is literally 2 feet away from the table and is inside a sliding door that does not fully seal shut. It was decently loud inside with the music playing but definitely not the place to go if you need privacy in the bathroom. They had another couple tables (2/3?) outside but it's tucked in a narrow alley so it was pretty tight out there as well. There is a stack of games to play inside and it has great decor! Overall, the drinks, vibes, and service were great! We had 7 people and completely filled the inside of the shop, so I would recommend a smaller group. The shop is down a narrow set of stairs between 2 building and another few stairs from the door down to the bar. I'm not sure if there is another entrance, so I believe this would be inaccessible for someone who was unable to use stairs. 4/5! I'm lead to believe that where the meadery is this is a fresh remodel and reconstruction to a historic building. In fact much of the area looks like it's fresh off of construction or there is some left including very scenic sidewalks and parks in the surrounding area. Definitely looking forward to seeing where this will go in a few years! The tasting room for Artivem is in a great spot in the building and you get to enjoy some of the view of the park and the nearby water. Lots of great looking mead! We got the Red Billed Firefinch. We bought a bottle of it and enjoyed it thoroughly during the Thanksgiving holiday. I did enjoy the vanilla and nutmeg features to the mead. It is sweet but not too sweet heavy. Well handled balance. Beautiful merchandise for sale here too. I got a very fetching Hoodie here with various birds on the logo. I know already this Hoodie will become a favorite! Looking forward to returning to Bellingham, this particular neighborhood and swinging by Artivem to try out more of their mead!

It's a clean looking, well appointed space with furniture made from local wood. Once inside, you'll be warmly greeted by Mark, the owner and Vino, his Hungarian Vizsla puppy. There are so many different meads to taste and Mark happily went through the differences of each one. Ranging from sweet to dry, I was more than willing to try them all. My favorite was the Christmas in a Glass; think Chai. It was obvious that their use of premium local whole fruit and local honey, instead of fruit concentrates resulted in a much better product.
