Aeromexico's flights were a bit expensive compared to other airlines flying similar routes. When flying home from a Mexican city with an international airport not far from the US border recently, rather than flying from there on Aeromexico, we instead chose to take a 20 minute shuttle ride to the nearest US airport, and flew home with a major US-based carrier for about 1/2 the price.
When we did choose to fly with this airline during another trip, the flights took off on time and the seats were comfortable with lots of padding in them, but overall Aeromexico was nothing special or extraordinary considering the cost. While this airline sent several marketing e-mails for more than a week prior to the flight, trying to entice me to spend $$ to upgrade or even buy the seats next to mine to have more space, when I went to actually check-in, their website seemed poorly designed and glitchy. It prompted me to enter some details about myself (not uncommon when flying internationally), but each time I entered exactly what was requested, I got an error telling me I'd need to see an employee at the airport. When I tried to change my seat from a middle to a window, which came with a reasonable upcharge, I got nothing but errors - and I tried 2 different web browsers to ensure the problem wasn't on my end. I did finally get the website to allow me to check-in and get boarding passes, but never did have luck with the seat change. Luckily the people working the gate for that flight changed the seat - and didn't charge for it.
I'd signed up for text and e-mail alerts and got a confirmation text, but when they made a gate change and moved my departure to another section of Miami airport, I never got any notification by either text or e-mail. read more
