I adore AE & Aerie products. They're extremely cute, soft, and durable. I've had some clothing from them for almost 10 years. I recommend them to everyone. That being said;
I prefer to online shop seeing as the only Aerie store within driving distance for me is still a 30 mile drive. In the passed month I have made a few purchases online and a couple of them have been shipped to me with the wrong merchandise.
This first time this happened I ended up liking the color they sent me in error, so I kept it. The second time this happened this month, I received a size much too large for me, despite all the paperwork(even the attached tag) saying it was the correct size. So off to Aerie I went to exchange for sizing. After driving the 30 miles, sifting through the merch, filling up and trying on a basket's worth of clothing, I head to the register where I am told I will now owe $20 more for my exchange than what I paid online. I asked why this wasn't happening as almost an even exchange(I was also exchanging two tanks for two tees, which are $2 more than the tanks). She told me it was due to the colors. Which is bullshit. Looking online myself there is no difference in price for the colors, just for the graphic/non-graphic shirts.
The employees refused to evenly exchange the same items in the correct sizes at the same price. Not only had I intended on exchanging those items, and had all this other merch I wanted, this mistake was the COMPANY'S fault and now I was being penalized for it.
So I left and ordered online again.
Having been a retail manager before myself I find their customer service skills to be abhorrent. You should always always always do what's right for your customer and you NEVER let your customer leave without their desired products and so unhappy. read more
