My husband and I had tickets to fly round trip from DC to Dublin leaving March 9th and returning on the 19th. We had to cancel our trip for reasons I won't get into, but we cancelled it within the allotted time frame. My husband confirmed the cancellation via phone prior to the departure and return flight time. All looked good to get the credits towards a future flight. My husband called once during the week of March 9th, anxious that they had not yet processed our refund for the departure flight. He was assured that they had received our cancellation and appropriate paperwork, but that it was a very busy time, and the processing may be a bit delayed. Another week passes, and he was told yet again that everything looked good on their end, but they were still processing the refund. This week, after hearing nothing, he calls back to ask about our refund, only to be told a refund was not possible because we are outside the window of time to ask for reimbursement. He gave the dates in which he applied for reimbursement, at which point he was told that he'd filled out the tax reimbursement form and not the flight reimbursement form. He'd confirmed with two different individuals on two different days who both told him he had submitted everything he needed. Did they not have access to the forms we submitted? Why would they have not pointed out he'd filled out the "wrong" form and instead implied he was good to be reimbursed? If they didn't have access to the forms, why not admit as much and encourage us to review the forms to make sure they were correct? We had never dealt with this process before, which is why he anxiously called twice to confirm he was doing it right. Apparently he wasn't, but Aer Lingus failed to inform us that it was incorrect, even after reaching out. Aer Lingus was either being indifferent and careless, or they were being downright deceitful. We weren't even asking for a cash reimbursement... We just wanted credits to fly with them sometime. We've been met with nothing but apathy every time we call to try and get help with this. Now we will never fly with them again, and I will tell everybody I know to do the same. read more
