First time and hopefully only time using this airline. I was traveling from Paris to London but had a stop over in Hamburg. While in Hamburg before boarding, the Eurowings staff approached me about my luggage. I've been traveling for decades, and I have always travelled with one personal item and one carry on. However for this incident, they told me that I had to check in my carry on luggage, because I was only allowed one piece of luggage, whether if was carry on or personal, and they said it was oversized. I was a bit surprised, because when I checked in at Paris, I had no problems, but in Hamburg all of a sudden I have to check in my carry on which I have used many times in the past and never had a problem. I went over to the desk and they charged me 70 euros!!!!! I was a bit upset because if I new beforehand, I would've check it in while in Paris and would've only paid 30 euros. I know it was only 40 euros difference but as an American who uses the dollar, 40 euros is a lot, and I felt as if eurowings was just using this as an opportunity to make a little bit more money off me. I looked around and there were many passengers who had bigger carry on's than me but they weren't asked to check in or pay. Anyway lesson learned, this could be a Germany policy thing that I wasn't aware of, but I will definitely not use Eurowings again, if I travel to Europe and decide to travel in between countries, I'll take the train. read more
