This is the place to go if you want to feel like cattle. At the end of the day "they're just junkies" is the Chico Aegis. Hardly anyone is even properly licensed because there's loop hole that allows them to work as long as they are on the list to get their licenses in the next 5 years. Not to mention this site alone is a million dollar plus a year clinic and they they do the absolute bare minimum and people complain but it never leaves Chico so nothing ever changes. At the end of the the day they are FOR PROFIT they are required by buisness law to hold their shareholders as top priorty And in addiction recovery the patient needs to be treated like a person not just a number so they can take our 300 bucks a month and give horrible service. You wanna complain? Sure and then they throw "go sit down or youre not gonna dose so they literally dangle that in front of you cuz if they don't wanna hear it they just tell you to leave and you don't dose so you can't even stand up for yourself. Every single weekwnd there's an issue it's so bad they had to shut down on Sunday and now it just moved the problem to Saturdays when no admins or anyone are there and it's funny it never happens in the week when the full staff there from getting locked out of the safe and not being able to dose till 1pm when they close at 9am and open at 6 so people get there at 5:30. Yesterday the doser didn't even show up until it was basically normal closing time which they obviously had to stay. The had a doser tell them he couldn't work full time but he would be a sub so if something happened he could come Dose and knowing that we are short they denied him and had they not we wouldn't have sat at the clinic from 530 to 930 am waiting because if We left we lost our spot and there was supposedly no doctors or nurse to sign the paper so we literally had no choice to go to another aegis because the Front desk lady can't sign for courtesy doses so we were literally forced to either break sobriety people are pulling on themselves going outside getting sick I almost broke 3 years clean and not having a single thought about it but after already feeling like they didn't care yesterday just proved it. We had to sit down and shut up or leave and go buy drugs or be sick for two days because they Are open on Sunday. Enloe use to dose people if they weren't able too but all the lazy people on the weekends instead of being there early would go to the hosptial and they would be overwhelmed just with methadone ppl not even the real stuff so now enloe quit doing dosing so we can't even go to the hospital. They also scheduled two nurses one at 6am and one a 7:30. BOTH nurses were on ther last day. The fact they had zero back up ready when 80 percent of ppl don't go in the past day and deal with all the bye and that so it's super common no one shows up on the 14th day and they had two people that Saturday was the last day of their two weeks and what happened? The 6am didn't even show up. We had no nurse or doctor to sign a courtesy doses and if left we lost our place in the queue even when it was 6:15 and wasn't gonna have a doser till 7:30 so we had no choice but to sit there for 4 damn hours we didn't even start dosing until it was 9:15 the hours are 6-9:30 so they didn't even get a doser until 15 miniutes before the advertised closing time. Yet they cut ppl off from dosing if they are 2o min late but we are FORCED (forced as in we had no option to go anywhere because there was no one to sign the transfer so we couldn't go to marysville Or redidn't because the 1 frontdesk lady who did a PHENOMENAL job and needs a raise didn't even have anyone to sign the paper work so we were forced to sit there because if we left we lost our spot and there's 500 plus ppl at this clinic it's 1hr 20 min one way so it's almost 3 hours round trip so I can't just go home and come back. It's stupid this is the only clinic and they run it like they know it cuz if you don't wanna jump through the hoops or do what they say guess what go somewhere else then. That's the stance they have so that's how I know they just look at like and I've heard one of the ladies even say when someone complained about being sick after waiting 3 hours "well that's why you shouldn't have got on drugs" you think that's what someone who is trying we are just hours past med times and feeling like shit and to get that as a response? Like I said they are for profit that shouldn't be legal it should be county. It costs a single person 300 dollars a month. They have almost 600 people so that's 300 dollars X 500 ppl just to lower it even: ***Formula:*** $300 a person x 100 ppl = 30 grand a month. $30,000 (for 100 ppl we have right under 600 so we will use 500 patients for this so they make more then my answer because they Make 30 grand per 100 ppl a month) So now we tale that 30 GRAND they make for 100 ppl and multiply that by 5 (500ppl) 30,000 X 5 = $150,000 a MONTH with 600 it's $180,000/month. read more

This one is ok if you need help they'll start you out with 35 mg of methadone the first day and you get to go up 10 mg a day after that till you get to your therapeutic levels I recommend going to Marysville they're way better read more

I can't believe this place has 2.5 stars. I see that most of the comments are over 5 years old. Since the 2.5 stars seems to have stemmed from some past employees and no actual patients I would like to shed some light on what this place is all about. I currently sit on the PAAG group for this faculty. Most don't know what that is or what it entails. It's a group if sober individuals who's sole responsibility is to be an advocate for the patients Aegis serves. If you feel you are being treated unfairly, are having an issue with staff, need someone to talk to that IS NOT STAFF then please reach out to a PAAG representative at Aegis. There is a drop box we only have access to , you can reach out to me directly whatever it takes. This agency is about helping people live better lives through medication assisted treatment. You're not out there buying pills, looking for your next fix, stealing, prostituting, killing, you are surviving! You are getting counseling, group therapy and a safe environment in which to come. I have been at this facility since 2016. This place is not a place to feed junkies and all of the negative connotations Attached to this facility need to cease and desist. This place is honest, follows the rules, helps patients in need and is by far the best facility equipped to help this opioid crisis. I have to agree that staff have to deal with a lot from patients. It takes a very patient and kind person to stay here and be happy. It's not for everyone. I ask that if it isn't for you then you just move on and not post negative comments about a job that helps people. read more

Sarah B. I 100% agree with your statement that it does take a certain type of special person to work at a facility such as a recovery treatment center . If they no longer work there then they must move on. I feel horrible when I myself see the good counselors leaving because I myself had many negative issues with inappropriate sexual behavior from a staff member at another treatment center NOT AEGIS. So once she was fired from Medmark for having her affair in her office with my now deceased husband who died this past May 2021 she went on to attempt to destroy another man"s life with his family at another facility "Fathers & Family. Many thanks to the Judge, she was fired from that job as well. I think AEGIS is the one & only out patient facility I recommend to people that are in need of help. This is not just a facility for the stereotypical addict either. Many people who were going to the pain clinics for years & yuntil the Laws were changed now have no other option but to go to these clinics. I've met & seen people that were going to die soon from Cancer & many other issues also. These treatment centers that Aegis has specifically (NOT places such as Medmark)are a Blessing to so many senior citizens, cancer patients & / or many other individual's who can't handle their pain. This place saved my ass from death. I would have ended up in jail , prostitution, or dying alone in the streets. There are a few things that this clinic could improve on like more communication between staff and counselor's. Also, being able to take responsibility when counselors take sick days or call out of work because I dont think the patient should still be held accountable for making that day up because there is usually a reason for us making that specific appointment at that specific time. Other then that it's an awesome place and the staff is wonderful. Dan, travis, and Martha are amazing and I have seen them go past the duties and much past there pay grade to help there patients out. I went here for a while before I (thank God) got arrested and actually got off everything. I can't imagine going through life having to continue ingesting this crap just to keep from getting sick, all because I was too scared of the pain and discomfort I knew would come from withdrawal. This place didn't serve any real purpose for me except drag out the time it took to get sober. Back then, however, fentanyl wasn't a problem and I suppose it saves lives now because of that. I'm forever grateful that I got arrested and put in prison and found a real way out-it was the end of a far worse sentence, that of being on perpetual probation-having to come in for doses, feeling like a zombie, not really Living at all. read more

I worked there for six months, at which point I was informed by the Clinical Director - who's since had the same fate - that my contract would be terminated in a few weeks. (Perhaps he thought that by cutting me, he'd save his job, but it didn't work.) The top tier of Aegis is only interested in making as much money as possible. The on-line counselors, reception and medical staff do a wonderful job under extremely stressful circumstances. Their pay is abysmal. The on-site Manager has less education than the interns. I was hired as a consultant, but four weeks into the job, my job tasks were taken from me. This meant that patients were being treated without the input of an on-site licensed clinician - not ethical or responsible practices. But it meant they saved money by shaving my hours. I really enjoyed getting to know the staff and patients. They're a caring, bright, group that deserves much better treatment from agency management. i have been struggling with addiction since before I was 11yrs old Im now 54.Aegis has been my constant ray of hope since 2010. For 11 yrs aegis has been molding me into a "decent" member of the human race. this is the only treatment center whose number one priority is not the almighty dollar as some! I have been through 9 inpatient treatment center 1 6 mo behavior modification inpatient center jailed over 44 times intense probation for a few years 6 mental health inpatient stays countless detox centers out patient treatment, over 50 different types of mental health medication regimens and aa since the age of 15 talk about a drain on the systems money and tax payers dollars! Total MENACE to society! until Aegis treatment center in chico took me in and at a very cheap amount of money per month. They have not kicked me out for making one mistake as so many other treatment centers will do.I can say that I have not been in jail or had a cop come to my house in almost 12 years I can say I have had permenant housing that I pay cash money for since starting the program. i dont fight with my husband everyday anymore I actually like waking up in the morning most everyday. Have i been clean the whole time? No it has been a bit of a struggle but once I got on the right dose I stopped using drugs. Aegis allows people to come as they are,always a mess. They allow us our mistakes they allow us to be humanthe people who get kicked out so far as i can see are the ones who arent honest and dont work a program they keep playing the game and what else can a counselor do, really. Aegis has never faltered during this whole covid thing and yes we have lost a lot of staff behind getting covid themselves or a family crisis due to covid demanded their attention. I am not at all enamored with some of the tactics at Aegis. I transferred in from Sacramento and at first was treated decently. But now that I have, "Officially", transferred in, things are now somewhat different. There seems to be some confusion as to what some people's job descriptions entail and take wide latitude with them. I liken it to a scene from a truck stop I recently stopped at. There was a person there who seemed to take their job too seriously, and needed to dictate to the customers that they weren't either lined up properly, or something else that was ridiculous. Aegis has been a major part of my life and still is to this day. My counselor and many of the staff have helped me tremendously over come and concour so many obstacles. Not many people understand or even take the time to try to understand the trials and tribulations we face on a daily basis but Aegis has.
