Dentist Cheng: an absolute nightmare happened to me and I am 72 years old and I've had at least 10 other teeth extracted but this was the most horrible thing I ever experienced and left me in shock and distress. Even though my blood pressure was 179 they went ahead to extract three molars and the girl knocked stuff off of the tray and left it on the floor and I saw a little capsules of fluid. The surgeon entered brusquely with no deduction and suddenly started shooting the needle in my mouth at least about 10 times and then without asking me if I was none at all he suddenly shoved down my throat and started pulling the teeth without waiting at all after the shots. I had no opportunity to say I was not numb and I certainly never was numb and the way he pulled the teeth was barbaric slinging them around the room dropping them ...never asking me if I was okay and I couldn't believe the nightmare I was in. Just as fast as that he left and then the assistant told me I could not have hydrocodone because I am on pain management which is not true and she told me to take ibuprofen which I am horribly allergic to and which destroys my blood pressure medicine this was the most horrible experience of my life and I dental office and as I said I'm 72 years old and have had lots of teeth pulled read more

I had 3 teeth pulled and needed the new ones put on my lower partial plate. When it came back it was so rough where the new teeth were, it rubbed my lower inside lip so bad I couldn't wear the partial. I went back to the dentist, she files them, which made them wearable. When she put them in my mouth they rubbed on my upper plate, so she filed on my upper plate. when I ate, the tooth broke right where she had filed on my upper plate. I went back and they were going to charge me to fix the upper tooth that she had filed that had broken right where she had filed..As I was wearing the lower plate, I kept biting my lip so badly that it bled. I went back again and she filed the 3 new teeth down so much that they were noticey visible and looked awful. I sent pictures and explained in great detail what had happened, but they refused to do any thing about it. After charging me $1060.00 they sent me a bill for $130.00 more, which I refused to pay. Talk about horrible customer service. On my first visit I sat in the lobby for 15 mins while the receptionist blabbed on the phone. When she was through she informed me I was 15 min late and had missed my appointment. If she sent me back now the dr would be behind. After some words I agreed to come back later in the day to get my cleaning & exam. After scheduling another babysitter I show up and they tell me they won't actually have time to do my cleaning. So I schedule my cleaning & fillings for my next visit. At the next visit they inform me that they had no dentist that day and it's be at least 2 months until they could do the fillings. Not to mention the hygienist was abrasively rude and her iPhone rang 5 times during my cleaning. Worst dental office I have ever encountered. read more

Extremely difficult to make an appointment. Often have to wait 2 months. Was told I could only have one tooth filling at a time, even if I have two teeth next to each other that require fillings. Waste of time and resources. Received an appointment cancellation notice in the mail, not a phone call. I have serious dental concerns due to medical history. After a rushed exam, dentist seemed annoyed to have the job, was told I need only 2 fillings and that my medical issues did not effect my teeth. Would also add that the dentist should pay better attention to personal hygiene and professional appearance. Since switching dental plans, and dentists, I have found that I do indeed have serious issues brought about by my medical condition. Current dentist very shocked at the lack of appropriate diagnosis from previous clinic. DO NOT GO HERE. If you are on OHP demand to switch dental plans if needed. Avoid this clinic! read more

I recently had had wisdom teeth pulled and the surgerion was beyond rude and apathetic. I had called prior to my appointment to let them know there were some medications I couldn't take, unfortunately they gave me exactly want I couldn't have. When I called to let them know they acted as if it was my regular physicians problem. So frustrating!!!!! read more

Do NOT go to this place, a friend of mine had an appointment for her son and the communication or lack there of was appalling. I understand things happen but in this particular situation THEY really dropped the ball. Placed blame on a former employee and called to tell her they had an opening for her to scramble and get the time off only to be told they couldn't see her son and she had to reschedule. This place is not a place to ever think of going, my daughter got the run around for 3 months just for them to end up pulling a permanent tooth when they could have fixed it. A good friend of mine also took her daughter there and same thing they pulled a permanent tooth at 13 years old because they were on OHP, like my daughter was. you need your teeth for as long as you can keep them for digestion. It is the first form of digestion, so if you cant chew your food you get issues in your stomach. Not to mention your facial features change, not for the better too. They were very rude to my daughter and acted like they don't know what your talking about every time you call them. I'm pretty sure its only OHP recipients that get this kind of treatment there. read more

This place is absolutely horrible. The way ALL Advantage Dental offices in Lane County treat patients is inhumane. Please don't just write online complaints - this place needs to be turned into the Oregon Dental Board! People with toothaches are waiting for months to get dental treatment. Patients are being exposed to more radiation because by time they get their appointment their condition is much worse and MORE x-rays are needed. I heard a child in the waiting room crying from a toothache and the mother begged to let him have her scheduled appointment - 6 weeks out! This is NOT OK. My neighbor went to Advantage Dental too - she's 62 and has always taken good care of her teeth - three years with Advantage Dental and she's probably going to HAVE to get several more teeth pulled, and dentures. She changed dentists and her new dentist didn't want to say much but you could tell he was appalled and he did tell her who to call! People call the Oregon Dental board if you're a victim of Advantage Dental! It would be in patient's best interest to check Advantage Dental dentists for previous complaints with the Oregon Dental Board. You know that bottom 1-2 percent in Dental School - yeah, that would be about right. BTW: The all-smiley blonde woman that posted her selfie here for Advantage Dental advertisement - she's a *friend* of an Advantage Dental dentist, just like the person that submitted the good review . AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT AT ALL COSTS! This was my primary dentist clinic for a few years, and I have had quite a bit of work done here. Every time I called for an appointment they would schedule it for at least six to eight weeks out, sometimes even as long as three months, and even then they would sometimes call just days before an appointment to reschedule it for another few months out. They also are not willing to perform more than one filling per appointment. All of these problems are small potatoes, however, as I found today how truly incompetent their doctors really are. I have a new dentist now, and I scheduled an appointment due to an on-going pain in the upper right side of my mouth. I had this same complaint when I was a patient at Advantage. This morning, when I visited my new dentist, they discovered that I had a cavity in my #2 tooth (top right molar, just in front of the wisdom tooth). They told me that it is likely that I needed a root canal to fix the problem. I consented and we began the process. However, about ten minutes into my root canal, my new dentist noticed something that looked wrong behind my #2 tooth. She immediately stopped and asked me if I had had my wisdom tooth removed. I told her that I had. She started looking at the X-rays and eventually called over another doctor to confirm what she was seeing. It turns out, when Advantage extracted my #1 tooth (top right wisdom tooth) they didn't remove the entire tooth. They had left behind a sizable piece of my wisdom tooth (roughly the size of two BB pellets). My new dentist explained that this was more than likely the cause of all of my pain. This piece of tooth that Advantage decided to leave in my gums was sitting in my mouth, rotting, and causing me pain for years. When I was still a patient at Advantage I had seen them multiple times for this same pain. They were never able to fix the issue, and even pulled my #3 tooth (top right molar, two positions in front of the wisdom tooth) because they believed that that tooth was the culprit. I've been waiting over a year to get a cavity filled. Every time I near my appointment date they insist that I get another cleaning before I get a filling. I was sooo close to finally having my tooth filled when they changed they're name to advantage (was Hayden) Apparently, the change in name only constitutes a new consult, then cleaning, then filling with each appointment set at least 3 months apart. My teeth are in pretty good shape aside from being a little crooked and having one or two small cavities. About a month ago, after my new consult, and the dentist confirming that my teeth look pretty good, I received a letter from my insurance company letting me know that they denied the reimbursement request for having my tooth pulled, since it was cosmetic and my records show no sign of needing the extraction. Wtf? I didn't have a tooth pulled! I didn't have anything done!!! They took X-rays while making really uncomfortable small talk over me. These people are crooks. Most recently (still haven't gotten that filling) I was experiencing massive swelling in my gums, bleeding and severe pain. I gave them a call and explained my emergency and after putting me on hold for 20 min they told me that I'm more than welcome to come and sit in the waiting room, every day, until somebody no-shows their appointment. When I asked if they could refer me someplace else since it IS after all an emergency the receptionist actually laughed at me and then assured me that they really don't mind me waiting around their office for "as long as it takes." read more

You are treatment like cattle. They speak to you like you don't have a brain. I had an abscessed tooth pulled, and for pain medicine they gave me Norco 5. That's a step up from baby aspirin for a tooth extraction. A total of 16 pills one every 4-6 hours. When I called for a refill, more than 30 hours later, they would not give it and told me to take OTC Ibuprofen, because, the Dentist, (thirty years my jr.) "FEELS" I should not be in pain. I will not be going back. If you need quick dental treatment, this place OK, but I would not have them for my on going care. Respect goes a long way. When I asked the dentist a question about another service, (mind you, I KNOW WE ARE NOT DOING THE OTHER SERVICE NOW), he got antsy, and said,....."well, we are pretty busy now........" Duh, ok, dude. If you are persistent enough to get through the nightmare phone tree and frustratingly long hold times, disconnections, "large call volume" messages requiring you to leave a message to be returned the next business day, and the machine not recognizing the numbers you are entering and saying 'goodbye', be prepared to wait months for an appointment. Twice I have shown up for my appointment, only to be told it was changed to a different day (weeks out) or time without notifying or asking me. They only make one appointment at a time. First you make an appointment for an exam with the dentist. Once you have the exam, then you can make an appointment for a cleaning. If you need work done, you make that appointment instead of cleaning. The appointment with the dentist are three months out. You cannot make an appointment more than four months out. You are lucky to get a cleaning every 18 months. I have never been to a dentist that made me make two appointments months apart for an exam and cleaning. My last appointment was with a different provider, even though I had made the appointment with my usual provider and there was no reason or notification of the change until I was in the chair. I like the dentists and hygienists, but the office staff and business are completely unprofessional and unorganized. read more
