I just used Advanced Radon for a home that I am buying and it all went very well. In fact, I think they went above and beyond. Like everyone else, I researched the internet and read reviews on a few different sites and then I called the top-looking companies for more information and quotes. The prices were all the same or about $100 different. It is a scary thing to learn that there is radon in the home so I was nervous and had a lot of questions. When I called Advanced Radon, a woman named Phyllis answered and she immediately put me at ease with her calm demeanor and amazing knowledge of radon and the mitigation process. I was also extremely relieved to learn that they have a guarantee. After they install the mitigation system, they do another test to ensure that it has been lowered to a rating below 4. If it doesn't for any reason, they will install a second system and/or look for other ways to lower it. Other companies were a bit gruff with me on the phone and didn't seem patient with my multiple questions and worries, but not this company. Also, other companies either didn't offer a guarantee or they were not clear about what the guarantee meant. The installation went well yesterday - on time as scheduled. The part that I really appreciated is that the installation team told me afterwards that my back step was loose and they inspected it further and found a gap between the steps and the house which could actually give me slightly lower readings (which would be false). This was led by a guy named Mike who was also extremely patient with all my questions. He recommend that I get the step fixed and do another reading to ensure that the system really works and that they would certainly come back and perform more mitigation tasks for free if necessary. We needed a tank refilled on our water softener but were either ghosted or quoted a pretty steep price.Learned about these guys from a friend as well as an electrician doing some work on our house. I spoke to Cory on the phone and explained our issues and concerns. He came by a few days later with another Tech (Jake I think?) and not only did what we asked him to do (at a CONSIDERABLE savings!) but went above and beyond and took care to check out that our entire system was working well. Even went so far as to inspect our Radon System and replace a site glass that I didnt even know we needed. My first contact with this company was 20 years ago, when we first moved into our home. They installed our first "Bubble Up" water unit. Recently, we had them install our second, when the first one finally had to say goodbye. They've always been easy to work with, professional, friendly and courteous. I unfortunately had a poor experience with Advanced Radon Mitigation & Water Treatment. The day of my install of a water filtration system, sediment was passed through from the installation and fed into my combination boiler. I had to call an emergency plumbing and heating guy same day to come as my hot water stopped working and the installers didn't know what to do but had mentioned they had seen this happen before. This ultimately led to my 10 year old combination boiler completely breaking down 3 days later and flooding my basement. My combination boiler was in perfect working condition and only 10 years old with documentation thanks to my home inspection one month prior and having the unit professionally serviced that morning before the install. Advanced Radon Mitigation has costed me north of $7500 of damage between the water damage and destruction of my boiler. They didn't even offer to pay the emergency plumbing and heating invoice. I had to withhold that portion of the final payment and they are still asking for that small chunk of change compared to the total amount of damage. read more

We got an radon air test in our basement that came back above the EPA limit and sought out quotes from a few places to get a radon mitigation system. We already had a passive system that just needed to be activated. ARM came back with the lowest price and they ended up installing a fan in our attic. While we're happy that the fan appears to be working and our new radon levels are much lower, we weren't totally happy with a few things. First, the guys doing electrical work in our attic were not electricians, and the thought of someone doing wiring work (even if it's "simple") while not licensed made me a little nervous. I didn't think to ask about this in advance, and it wasn't until the guys were up in the attic that I casually questioned them about it. The extra expense of having a licensed electrician do the wiring probably would have put ARM's initial quote in line with the others, and I wish I had known this in advance to take into consideration. Also, the guys totally screwed up the blown in insulation in the attic. So we basically replaced one problem (radon) with another potentially more expensive problem (messed up insulation). Lastly, the guys that installed the fan were really very nice, but they reeked of smoke and I'm extremely sensitive to that smell in particular. It just didn't seem super professional for people that are entering and working in someone else's home. At the end of the day, ARM did what they said they would do (reduce my air radon levels) at a lower price than we had found, but we're left wondering if indeed you get what you pay for. read more

We recently purchased a home that had a well. We had always been on city water at our previous locations. When we found out that after using our water for a few months if there were things in the water that we should not be drinking, we contacted several water treatment companies to get quotes and information on a whole house water treatment system. Advanced was patient with us and did a wonderful job educating us on our different options. They also were the most cost-effective option for us. They showed up right on time. Professional, polite and knew the task at hand. Said it would take 2 hours and they were right on the money. Told us what they were going to do and did exactly that. We run a storage facility in Bow, NH. The water conditions in Bow are pretty horrible. The iron level in our water is through the roof. We called in Advanced as well as a couple others for quotes. I remember one company not wanting to even engage in a quote due to the iron levels. Some suggested relocating our well, but that was our last option. Robin took the job head on, and conquered it well. He has stood by us through a couple minor hiccups. Since our system was installed in 2005 we have had nothing but failures. Initially they did not report that it wasn't even clearing the radon from the basement. Then the fan repeatedly failed and a breaker kept tripping. They wanted to charge me for every visit on a system that wasn't installed correctly in the first place. Now, it has failed again and this time I'm calling someone else. They have too much of my money already. read more
