We've been using Kent for 22 years and I must say that they seem to get better every time we get serviced. Today 2/10/2026 they serviced us for a pump (frozon) possibly. When I expressed my concerns as to thinking that the pump was the issue rather than a freeze issue they listened and saved us lots of $$$. Any negative reviews didn't give them a fair chance. If your thinking about using kent do yourself a favor and keep looking This company is as incompetent as it gets their inspector came to evaluate the septic system the tank was pretty much full so I don't know how they could evaluate the conditon but they said they did they said it was a 1000 gallon tank it isn't they said it was 50 ft from the well it isn't they said the tank and baffle were in good shape and of a 50' line 48' was clear recommendation /opinion "system is in poor shape" make that make sense!! no odor ,no surface waterno back up ever created havoc with the sale of the home , look at their reviews this is not an isolated incident 2 other septic companies said the system was old but fine!! read more

This company came to a house I was selling to inspect our septic tank for some prospective buyers. Other than the two giant holes he decided to dig in our yard (that were no where near the septic tank), destroying the grass in the area, he also left our septic tank lid ajar by no small margin. Our septic tank is a concrete tank where the lids fit perfectly together when you align them right. The more experienced inspectors and septic professionals simply mark the lid with paint or chalk to make sure they know where the lid goes. Instead, this inspector decided to leave the tank lid ajar by about an half inch because it was too much effort to patiently turn it until it fit properly. Properly closing a septic tank lid should be a basic skill any properly qualified inspector who follows the guidelines should be practicing. I absolutely would not recommend this service to anyone who is either inspecting a home or having their home inspected. We will be specifically asking if this company is doing the inspection and request that they not for the above mentioned reasons. read more

Kent sptic cost me over $7,000. They inspected my septic system for the buyer of my house. So on my leaching field there are 3 runs of piping, on one run they found water, which was the run at the lowest point. So everyone knows that water runs to the lowest point. They nevered check the D box which is the most important part of the Leaching field. So he told the buyer that it didn't fail but in needs a new leaching field. How stupid is this company. How does that make sense. So come to fine out the D box was smash which means the water was never going into the pipes, so it ran to its lowest point.  STAY AWAY read more

We called Kent to have them clean our septic tank (it had some roots in it that we wanted removed) and, when I told them about the basement toilet, they immediately grabbed their tools and started figuring out where the toilet was draining to (which the previous company didn't bother to do for us [they couldn't even offer any advice on what to do, nor did they offer to help us find out where the drainage was going]). I wanted to write and say how disappointed I am with Kent Septic - as a real estate agent, I have used the company regularly for septic inspections and recommended for repairs when things go awry during home sales. The techs they send for pumping have always been professional. However, over the Thanksgiving weekend, we had an issue with our own septic in Brookline, and was ultimately upset with the service we received. On Saturday (11/28) we noticed a gurgling when flushing in the drains. When inspecting where the inlet pipe exits our home, we observed toilet paper on the ground - not a good sign. We already had a septic pump scheduled with Kent for Monday, so we figured we would be gentle with the system until then, and ask the tech when he comes out. The tech showed up 35 minutes late, to an 8am appointment. He called ahead saying his truck wouldn't start - and we were ok with it. Things happen. While there, the tech was kind and professional, and dug up the pipe by hand for us to look at. There was an obvious crack, and he called someone to come take a look at it. While on the phone, we were given a verbal quote of $600 - $800, but someone would have to come look. I told them I would be around in the afternoon, and was told I'd be given a call before they arrived. 30 minutes later, while at a doctors appointment, I get a call saying they are on the way and I didn't have to be there. Ok. I don't hear back for several hours, and decided to call the tech back. He didn't answer the phone, so I called the main office line. I was again given a verbal quote of $600 - $800, but they haven't heard back from their tech. Not twenty minutes later, I received a call from the main office with the exact same quote "depending on the work that needs to be done," which makes me question if someone even went to the home. There was no explanation of the issue or what work needed to be done. At this point, we could not flush our toilets, shower, do laundry, or dishes, as all the wastewater was pooling at the foundation of our home. I decided to call several other companies to get a quote, all of which made it seem like it was an easy fix. The company we ended up using was family owned, and it basically came down to a clogged pipe that had busted. Right then and there, the guy found and cleared the clog, replaced the pipe, and had it done in less than 2 hours. The total bill came to $210, and he even put a handle on the top of our septic cover at no cost just to make it easier for future service. After seeing how little work really needed to be done and how quick the repair was, I feel as though Kent tried to take advantage of a consumer. I used to refer several customers a month to them, and am disappointed that the price difference and service was so vastly different. At this point, I will no longer feel comfortable referring business to this company. read more

The tow truck that came also messed up my neighbors driveway a bit. I called and let them know and they sent a guy out to repair it the next day. No arguments no haggling. Nothing. We initially had an issue with Kent's septic inspection on the house we ultimately purchased. The system was deemed to be in very good condition, however, within a week of moving in we began having major issues....issues the inspection missed. That said though, once Kent was made aware of the problems, they came back out and reinspected the whole system. This resulted in their crew digging up our yard, adding all new piping & reconfiguring the layout, at no additional expense to us. They were extremely thorough, professional, and did all the work in one day. We are very satisfied and will use them again. We were referred to kent for our home inspection process. They came out and did their thing. Showed me the leach field and said it looked good. When we got to the septic tank he failed the tank and said it needed to be replaced. He showed us where he was able to poke a hole through the sidewall of the tank and said that the integrity of the tank failed and should be replaced. We gave the report to the homeowners and they called in a second opinion because they were not willing to replace the tank. So we got a report from another company stating that the hole was created by the kent inspector who punched a hole through an installation knockout and that the tank itself was fine but now would need to be repaired for around $800. An the homeowners were obviously not going to pay for it since it was our inspector that caused the damage. I called the kent inspector to see if he believed he was correct or if it was possible he made a mistake. He wouldn't back up his initial inspection results and never offered to take a second look. just said "Well if they said it was a knockout then it probably was." No offer to correct the damage they caused and not looking to extend our negotiations and the closing we accepted the loss in order to move forward with our purchase. Very disappointed that after paying for a professional inspection we were left hanging with a damaged septic tank and no professional courtesy to fight for their paying customers or admit when they screwed up. read more

I've used Kent Septic for years. This year I called early in the month and it was weeks before they could come. I booked and planned my day because the best they could do was today between 12 and 4. At 2:30 they called to cancel, this morning they had trouble with the truck scheduled - and then they waited hours to let me know (they were the ones that said the issue came up this morning). With all that time there was no offer of another truck coming later, the best they could do was middle of next week (and my septic tank, i.e. lawn, is dug up!). After all the time I had to wait to get the tank pumped, and apparently how busy they are, I would have thought they would have called right away and either a) rerouted another truck later in the day or b) offered me something in a day or so, not five days later. Fortunately one of their competitors was more accommodating and offered a week away and I asked if they could come sooner and right away I have an appointment in a couple of days. What's most upsetting is that when the truck broke "in the morning", if they had called I wouldn't have dug up my lawn and waiting wouldn't have been an issue. Their lack of communication was horrible, to me, unprofessional. I'm glad others out there are willing to work with their customers. read more

Having Kent do a home inspection is something you don't want to do, they inspected our septic system and found the baffle broken, which anyone knows is not a big deal and it can be fixed, but they reported back to the people that the system failed or was in failing condition and it was antiquated, but it has been working perfectly for years and would still have done so for many many many years. But when they tell somebody this during an inspection of course they're going to scare them away and a company that does inspections and installs them is definitely a conflict of interest in my opinion! And so we had to replace it because of this, and I had to get A survey and a design for the new septic system, and one of the contractors came to my home and we dug holes in the yard and he said that this system absolutely is not failed! But we decided to fix it anyways because the people purchasing the house required it or they would back out,anthe people that are installing it said the system is not failed so there's two professionals that are telling us that there was nothing wrong with our system to begin with so don't ever use Kent if you want to get good work done, they're not honest in anyway shape or form. I talk to one of the owners about coming back out and showing me how the system has failed and she said that they would charge me $150 but if they found That they made a mistake that they wouldn't charge me, but regardless of that I would've done all that because they were going to send the same guy and I would have the same results and then they would've got another $150 from us for a lie read more

Need to work on your communication to your customers. 1) your answering service is a waste of money - what is the point if you don't intend to make emergency calls to your customers during the weekends? They apparently do not relay the message anyways. Get an answering machine. 2) don't tell me that I don't need to be home for a pump to be replaced and then call me when the technician "had been waiting, and now they need to reschedule until Monday" (today is wednesday), because no one was home. 3) the way you answer the phone and the way you call back a customer is rude: "you called?" read more

Really impressed so far. I used Kent to inspect the septic during my last house purchase. They said all was in great shape so I continued using the same service company the previous homeowner did. Just bought a new house and used Kent to do our septic inspection again and again they were nice to work with. So when I had a problem and my septic backed up last week I called Kent and figured I'd give them a shot. They were quite busy with work, but managed to get someone out to my house that same day. The problem was bigger than expected and they had to bring in a mini-excavator to do some digging and replace a busted line. All was done the same day before I got home from work. Although they had to tear up part of my lawn the impact they left was minimal. They took payment over the phone from me and the cost was very reasonable. Very good work guys and gals. read more

Kevin 1/27/17 Kent Septic was the inspector of choice the buyers real estate agent for our home used and was it a disaster! The house part was way too picky on little things which are an easy fix for anybody. When it came to the septic, the guy dug to lift the cap off to get a look inside and didn't have the proper equipment to know which direction the drain line to the leach field went. He said he would return the following day to complete the task and form his conclusion on the matter. Well, he never returned and made the assumption the drain sewer line went under the garage. In doing so he wrote in the report that " IF and only IF that line should break the whole garage would have to be torn down to fix the drain pipe/line. What a wild assumption! He had no clue what he was doing. First, I discovered from talking with a septic Co that knows the trade that the garage would not have to be torn down. They can excavate and bore a new drain line from the tank. So, when our buyers saw this information the ran from our home and were turned off completely from ever buying hence we lost our buyers thanks to this fool who made an assumption. Do NOT have this company any where near your home for inspections, they will find a way to mess it up. read more

We recently used Kent Septic to perform a septic inspection on a home we were purchasing in Alton, NH. We weren't 100% sure where the system was located, so the inspector used a probe, and together with what information we did have, and his knowledge, he was able to locate the system just after a few minutes. The inspector checked the septic tank and the leaching area, and then went over the condition of the system with us and explained how it all works. Unfortunately the system did not pass and needs to be upgraded, but with his guidance we were able to get in touch with someone who does install in this area, and we will be having a new system installed. I would highly recommend Kent Septic for their experience, and knowledge of how septic systems work, as well as their professionalism. read more
