We were in the market for a standby generator installation and contacted a small handful of…read morecompanies that serviced Southern NH. Generator Pro (Nashua) and NH Generator Installers (Concord) were the two companies that had the generator installation process down to a science as well as good reviews on other sites. We brought both companies out to give us quotes and the work came out to about the same price in both cases. We ended up choosing Generator Pro because (a) we didn't have to chase them down for the estimate after the visit, (b) the owner personally did the site visit for the estimate and seemed like a really good guy and (c) their communication skills were noticeably better than their competitor. Generator Pro ended up being great every step of the way to the finish line. The installation process is coordinated by Michelle, who is incredible at her job. When you undertake a complex job such as a generator installation, the person coordinating the work is just as important as the people actually performing the work. There are numerous steps along the way--choosing the right generator, getting it delivered and "set", gas hookup, electrical hookup, inspection, etc--and most of it has to happen in a certain order around the buyer's schedule. Some of the work needed to be outsourced to 3rd parties, such as gas work and electrical work. Generator Pro chose very friendly and competent workers for these tasks that we were happy to welcome into our home. When the generator process was complete, the owner (Doug) drove over to give us a personalized tutorial on usage. When you spend this amount of money on a purchase, you want to feel great about it every step of the way. Generator Pro gave us a level of service that never had us second guessing ourselves when we were writing large checks. We look forward to working with them going forward!

We spoke for a little bit and I liked what I heard. He just serviced my generator. He adjusted the valves, oil and filter change, cleaned the battery terminals that had NEVER been cleaned, replaced the air filter and other things. He took his time and was very thorough. Prior to finding Evan, I had a company out of Templeton that installed the unit do my annual maintenance. Evan said that the corrosion that was on the battery terminals wasn't the result of one year. It hadn't been cleaned/checked since it was installed! I wasn't happy with them and i was looking for someone else. I was fortunate to find Evan. I know who I'll be calling going forward. He did more and charged me less. I'd recommend Evan's Generator Service in a heart beat!!

I have never had an issue with Cote Electric who serviced our generator for years. I missed the…read moreannouncement that they had become part of Heritage Home Services. I called Cote wondering why hadn't gotten by annual service contract renewal. They explained the change and told me about the Heritage Advantage Membership plan which provides discounts on repairs and purchases and discounts on maintenance. We signed up and had our first annual maintenance check since the change. Our service tech, Pharaoh, gave us a heads up that he was en-route, explained what he was going to do, how much it would cost and how long he expected it to take. He was very pleasant, completed the work promptly and cleanly. No complaints with the change to Heritage and will continue to use them for service.

Had a service agreement with COTE. Went fine the first year. Then, they were purchased by Heritage…read more Next year, no one calls. No reminder. No one comes out. I call to make an appointment and am told the price increased by over 50% (from $249 in March 2025 to $375 for March 2026). Is there a point to a service agreement if you still have to make an appointment and the price can increase by over 50% in one year? The answer is...nope. No point at all. So, I'm off to find a new service company. Here's some text from their contract (emphasis is mine): "Why should I sign up when I can just call each year for maintenance? If you call each year we will be glad to accommodate you and come and perform the PM for your generator. However, by not signing a contract you risk the possibility of a rate increase every year whereas A PM CUSTOMER IS GUARANTEED THE RATE FOR THE DURATION OF THE PM AGREEMENT (except for continuous maintenance which may be subject to rate increase). Also, PM customers are in our database and WILL NOT NEED TO CALL for PM service. A PM customer will also receive priority service, specifically when winter rolls around and we receive an increase in service calls. A PM customer will be charged a service rate of $105.00 per hr for any repairs needed, a non PM customer is charged $140.00 per hr" Note that they never called. And they immediately raised the rate. Can they do that? Yes, technically, because elsewhere they say this: "Labor will be at a rate of 80% of base rate, which is currently $140/hour and is subject to change without notice." So, yeah...they basically lie about the benefit of a service agreement and their agreement is entirely contradictory. I'd recommend you stay away from these guys. EDIT: They called me and told me that they had called to make an appointment and told me the date they called. I checked my phone (which is the number they told me they called) and my phone has no record of any call from them on that day. My text has no record of any text on that day. They also said that they had to raise their prices but offered me a comp service. I told them no thank you, as I found someone willing to do the service for very close to their old price. Therefore, I stand by my rating and review.
