So I woke up this morning with itchiness in my ear. Not sure if it was allergies or impacted wax I decided to make an appointment to check just in case. Making the appointment was easy and I was able to come in the same day. Dr. Gary was awesome! To my amazement my ear was super impacted and he was able to clean it out within 5 minutes. The best part was I was able to see my entire ear canal on a giant flat screen in all its glory. Normally it's $20 to clean each ear but since I had so minimal wax on my other ear he only charged me for one. Wish I would have came in sooner!! 100% recommend! read more

I brought my mother to this clinic for hearing aids at the same time I thought I would also try them out. The care was type and quality of care were above average. The communication seemed to be confusing as to the type of hearing aids I needed and quality. After trying a pair of hearing aids for the trial, I decided to look elsewhere once I found out the price. Upon returning my trial hearing aids, one of the doctors told me that they had already charged my insurance company for the hearing aids even though I hadn't decided to purchase them yet and then went on to lecture me about the dangers of ordering hearing aids online and if I needed any assistance from them that they wouldn't touch my hearing aids for less than $1000. Went to Advanced Hearing Group in Scottsdale for a simple ear wax cleaning. The Audiologist kept hitting my eardrum with the metal scoop tools. This obviously hurt and I told them to stop. I then asked for a micro-suction instead and apparently they did not have this. They rebooked me to the Mesa, AZ facility the next day, which did have micro-suction. I then took a day off of work for this appointment and Mesa called me 15 minutes before to cancel my appointment. They also told me I have to pay an additional $95 fee for a new appointment. Is this place for real? Are you Fing kidding me? Never-Ever shall I recommend them-Apparently they have forgotten who is the Customer. read more

I went in for my appointment, and similar to another reviewers comment the metal tool they used hurt a lot. I was wincing pretty bad and even had tears come out, and I saw blood on the camera. The doctor tried to tell me that it was an old scab from a cut that had been reopened, and when I asked when he thought I got the cut he said probably around a year ago, why would a cut from a year ago be not healed and reopening now? Weird explanation for the blood. Lots of pain especially when he did the ear rinse, and then he told me to expect discharge to come out of my ear for a few days and not to be alarmed, and that I could use SHOWER water to rinse it out, I questioned if that would be a good idea and he said that as long as it wasn't puddle water I should be fine. In the morning there was blood and discharge coming out of my ear, and two days later I now have a major ear infection so I went to the doctor because of the pain. Apparently the ear doctor RUPTURED my ear drum and was dishonest with me about the situation, or somehow did not notice (though I'm going to assume he did notice as he told me to expect discharge to come out of my ear which is a huge red flag for a ruptured ear drum) that he ruptured my ear drum and the situation got worse after rinsing my ear out with shower water, which after looking it up is a dangerous thing to do, you should NOT ever put shower water in your ear. Now I'm on heavy antibiotics to fix the ear infection before the ear drum itself can begin healing. read more

I was visiting from out of town and couldn't hear out of one of my hearing aids. My doctor's office from home recommended that I contact AHG. I called them and they said to just come in. Went here 2 days ago and had a quick and good experience. I called for an appointment and was able to get in the next week, I'm usually in Mesa but I decided to go up to South Scottsdale since I wanted to be seen earlier. I had a 4:30 appointment and got there at 4:15 and was basically taken right back and met the doctor right away. No one else was in the waiting room. I had a weird feeling in my ear and wanted to get it checked out. There's a big TV you can see what's going on inside your ear, I sat down and she took a look. Everything looked clear as far as earwax went, she did say my eardrums were bent inwards and mentioned some solutions (allergists, testing, etc.) but reassured me it wasn't a huge issue. I paid $30, I had heard things about it being free if no earwax was found but I still paid even when my ears were super clear. I took my daughter here back in July and she saw Tamera at the south office and all she could talk about the rest of the day was how she wanted to be a doctor like her and wear pretty color uniform (scrubs). She did great with her and was able to get my daughter to cooperate (for a hearing test) like I've never seen before. My daughter has hearing loss and seeing the audiologist has always been a terrible experience, but not this time! Experiencing that, I took my mother and scheduled an appointment with Gary and Tamera once again and my mother felt welcomed and well taken care of. She was diagnosed with a benign tumor and Tamera was able to explain to us all the ins and outs and was ready to answer our questions. My mother didn't feel rushed, instead she felt like she had the best medical provider experience. Tamera recommend vestibular testing for further evaluation of her dizziness and my mother is already scheduled. We are definitely continuing care here again and sending all of our friends and family to see Tamera and the rest of the staff. I like to add the front desk staff was also amazing and welcoming from the moment we scheduled my daughter and mother to the moment we opened the door. If you visit this office, you will not be disappointed with anyone in this office. Everyone is very knowledgeable and professional. Ask for Tamera, she will take great care of you. If i could give this office more than 5 stars i would !! My right ear sounded very muffled turns out i had a VERY impacted ear (SO GROSS). This place is AMAZING!!!! I went to a doctor who told me they couldn't do my ears because my wax was too hard, and I would have to use the drops and wait. I know that is true sometimes, but I thought it was odd because I have never had that for mine. My boyfriend found this place, and they got me in the same day. Did this crazy woman really just review a hearing clinic? Yep. Is she deaf? Far from it :) Today I had a hearing test. Not something I think you'd typically see a woman my age writing about, but nevertheless, it is truth. The center is tucked away on the side of Papago Plaza that I never go to and for a moment I thought I had mixed up where I was going, but alas I found it next to the Papago Inn. The place is small and quaint, which is I guess what I would suspect for a hearing clinic. The staff is very friendly and helpful and advised me on the forms I needed to fill out and what would be happening during the testing. They were conversational which put me at ease. The testing procedure was comfortable and didn't take long at all. I was given the results instantly and congratulated on my impeccable hearing skills. read more

The doctor cleared my ear wax in a few minutes and I felt normal again!!! Super cool process where they stick a camera in your ear and show you all the wax blocking your hearing. Then they clean it out and do a quick flush with water. The doctor was very knowledgable and for $20 a ear it's the best deal around. Dr. Johnson is the best Audiologist I've ever been to. I'm only 26, and to have a sufficient amount of hearing loss from birth, to say I was stubborn and resistant to get hearing aids is an understatement. Dr. Johnson is very professional. He's friendly, and he's extremely knowledgeable. He went out of his way to ensure I was within my budget, as well as getting a great product. For the first time in my life - I can hear! I had a very brief (well, maybe a half hour long) moment of panic, where I was resistant and could only see the negatives of getting hearing aids. He was so supportive of my overly dramatic response to hearing. He turned the hearing aids down to a level that was perfect for starting out. I came in a few times after for him to adjust, check, and turn them up. Everything he said was right on. He told me that I would truly enjoy hearing my kids... I have to say that was the only thing he was wrong about, LOL. My kids are amazing, and loud. Ha Ha! I will never forget my experience with him, and am forever grateful. Now I get to live a life of hearing fully, while enjoying it and the experience getting their. He has a customer for life. I had been here before, and even sent others to them, however, that is now changed. An intern (?) there (she said was a "four years," so I guess student) obviously did not know what she was doing with my tympameter test. She kept moving it around and around in my right ear and increasing the pressure and sound and pushing it in further. Finally, she asked Dr. Johnson if she should reset the machine as it wasn't registering, and he said she didn't need to. Then she did it again. Moving it around - it was painful. Finally, she went to my left ear and did the same. I asked her "are you almost done?" She said she needed more time. So, I got up and left. So, Dr. Johnson came out and literally told me that she had to keep starting and stopping because I told her to stop. Okay. It is the height of STUPIDITY to tell someone they said something they did not say. I said "no, she didn't know how to operate the machine, which is why she asked you about resetting it." I did tell her it hurt me, but she did NOT stop due to that, which is very wrong. He denied that she said anything about the machine. So, number one, again, who tells someone they said things they didn't say and claims that they didn't hear what they heard? No. 2, if she's an intern who's doing things wrong, that needs to be known and handled so she doesn't injure people. That he handled it the way he handled it erased all trust I had, and my mom will also be going elsewhere as she was in the waiting room and heard what happened. BTW, my right ear is now in a great deal of pain, feels stuffy and the tinnitus is worse. I will ask my ENT (a highly professional person with a nice office that's not full of mold on the ceiling), if they could have injured me. read more

Is it possible to give more than five stars?? I have an inherited issue (thanks Dad!!) where the wax in my ears grows super fast. This leads to impactions, hearing loss, and the whole shebang. Every three months, I visit Advanced Hearing Group, and I'm SO glad I found them! Instead of "trying" to clean my own ears with useless kits that don't work, or impacting them via q-tips (which I've now learned is a big no no), I spend the 20 dollars and come out hearing better than ever before! Everyone I've encountered there is very nice and courteous. More importantly, I'm usually able to be seen within a day or two of calling, sometimes same day. After I had a very, very bad earwax impaction, and they saw me same day, it cemented the fact that I won't go anywhere else. Thanks so much for being great!! read more

Without question I felt the most confident in the information provided by Dr. Johnson. Loved this! I had cleaned my ear out with a q-tip and moved all of the ear wax directly on to my ear drum causing me to have similar hearing to an 90 year old. I went into Advanced Hearing for an appointment (was able to get in the next day). Dr. Kim was amazing, very caring and the appointment was extremely affordable when paying out of pocket. Dr. Johnson knows Hearing!!! I am 47 years old and have suffered general hearing loss over the years from being a musician, listening to loud music, concerts and no ear plugs on a Harley. My wife and kids had accused of selective hearing and I was having a hard time hearing folks in my sales postition when in large conference rooms, restaurants and bars. The background noise would just filter out the voice so I would just tune out or get frustrated trying too hard to concentrate on what someone was saying. Not no more!!! I finally went in to see Dr. Johnson and his office had the top of the line hearing test equipment. I must mention that he took my insurance too!!! Once he diagnosed me, he had my Hearing aids in a couple day and it was very fast to set them up. You can barely see them not that it makes a difference since most people have Blue tooth headsets on their ear these days. I have Bluetooth in my hearing aids, I can listen to music and talk on my phone hands free. Unbelievabe difference now that I can hear people again.
