In Juneau I went to the Costco pharmacy and contacted Sullivan's seeking an emergency refill... left three messages with no response and no call back. If I could give a 0 or negative star, I would. Before I start let me just clarify that I've never met the doctor coz I havent even gone past the appointment scheduling. My experience was so bad with their front office and if the doctors set up their policies and standards that way, then my review is for them too. Let me share my experience with this clinic. 1. I called last week to schedule an appointment for my back since I've been experiencing backpains lately. I spoke to a lady and told her about it. She then asked for my name and I told her I'm a new patient. She then said, Oh, we dont prescribe medication here so we're probably just gonna refer you to someone else. So I said, I wouldnt know if I need prescription or be referred to someone else. I felt something was really off with how she talked to me but I just continued since I really need to get myself checked. She said, okay, I'll just set it up for you. 2. She then asked what my insurance is. I told here the insurance company I'm with. She then asked if it's one of those PP or Obamacare? (I dont know what she's talking about so) I told her no, knowing my insurance is pretty good, coming from my husband's company, and I already checked that the doctor was in-network prior to calling. I thought, why was I being asked this way? Wouldnt they just bill their patients if the insurance doesnt pay in those instances? I gave her the ID number and the name on the card. I didnt have time to process what was going on so I just continued. 3. She then said, I will be calling your insurance and I will call you back if there's any problem. In the meantime, I have booked you on Tuesday the 21st, at 2pm and I said okay. I never received any call since then so I assumed everything was as scheduled. Now that it's Monday, I called back to reconfirm and just as I expected, I was told I dont have an appointment. The lady I spoke with apologized and said whoever I spoke with didnt book my appointment. She offered to make one for me but the only available, according to her is next week. I declined, and I would NEVER EVER call them again. I would NEVER EVER RECOMMEND this clinic to anyone. read more

I had my first visit with Dr. Sullivan this morning. It was quite interesting--good and bad. He was very knowledgeable and wise as well as a resource for information and sound advice. You can tell how passionate and educated he is just within the first 30 minutes of hearing him speak. However, his mannerisms leave something to be desired. Within the first five minutes of my visit he was rude and unprofessional. I'll give specific examples. Once again, this is my first time meeting Dr. Sullivan. The following quotes are word for word. I have done my best to include context and not utilize said quotes in isolation. He was inappropriate and unprofessional using profanity where it was neither necessary nor funny. 1) Upon visually inspecting my nasal passage and septum, he told me that it "looks like shit." That's it. No explanation as to what he meant nor any play to be joking or comical. He eventually addressed any potential for a medical issue (to which there was none, thankfully). 2) He visually inspected my scalp and upon seeing some irritation commented that he would "tell me how to shave" and that his father "didn't teach [him] shit" about shaving either. Again, not joking or comical. Just condescension which by any other choice of words might not have been so. He did give sound advice on shaving immediately following this that I do not find issue with, however. If he had been my doctor for some time and there was rapport built and a relationship there--then sure, I could see some relaxed conversation and banter. But speaking like this to a first time patient who has no relationship or trust built yet? Professionalism and a sense of mutual respect are basic to any field or industry and even more so within the independent professional setting (dentists, lawyers, realtors, financial advisors, etc). Aside from these instances, he did give good advice and shared medical research and his strategy. This was the redeeming part of the visit. I should have raised the issue with his mannerisms at the moment and stopped the visit, but I wanted to give Dr. Sullivan a fair chance. After doing so, and after reflecting upon my experience today, I can honestly say that while I think he is an intelligent doctor and a good one, his presentation looks like shit. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Sullivan for just over 10 years. He is extremely thorough and attentive to your needs. He takes the time to get to know you and listen to what your needs are. He works extremely hard to make sure you are well taken care of. He is not afraid to make referrals to specialists if he feels he is not the best to handle your symptoms. I have always been able to get same day appointments when extremely sick. When I lost my insurance for 90 days due to a job change he and his staff were very helpful in making sure that I had refills and samples of all the medications that I needed and mad sure that I knew they would help me should I become ill during that time frame. Sure enough, I came down with a sinus infection and they helped keep my out of pocket costs low. When I moved to AZ I picked his name out of a book provided by my insurance company and he has been one of the best picks I've made in my life. Anyone who has accompanied me to an appointment has been impressed with his practice and him as a person. Short version: Awesome guy, will tell you like it is and not try to prescribe anything you don't need. So I really don't like doctors in general and especially hate putting any type of medication in my body. I haven't been to the doctor in about 5 years and I decided to get a physical done since I got a better job with better health insurance plan. It's been a while so I just went through the Aetna website to see who was covered in the Scottsdale / Old Town area where I live and checked a few of the doctors reviews out online. The first 5-6 doctors I went through were pretty unimpressive but from the reviews I saw, Shawn seemed like a pretty easy to work with / understand guy so I decided to give him a shot. My visits: The doc came in about 2 seconds after they told me "the doctor will be right in" (which never happens) and we went over my potential health issues, and he was very to the point like other reviewers have said. He checked me for some pain I was having and told me to get some Xrays and blood work done. Everything else seemed fine, besides some swelling in my nose which he asked if I wanted to be treated for or not. I don't like to use medication of any kind so I told him no thanks and that was that, no attempt at getting me on any meds I don't need. At my check up two weeks later he said I was in great health and I just needed to stretch for some spasming in my back, other than that he said he'd see me next year! I scheduled an appt with Dr Sullivan for a physical. He came through door and instantly put me at ease and made me feel comfortable. I found him on yelp because of good reviews and he is near my home. My old family doctor was in Michigan. I'm not exaggerating, he is by far the best family/primary care doctor I have ever been to. Super down to earth and the opposite of judgmental. He actually gave some advice on some fun things to do in the area. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for someone to treat them like family. The staff was friendly and the wait time was short. The level of incompetency is immeasurable. I was told to schedule an annual bloodwork, went to the lab after fasting and no order! I called the office and they said they didn't send in the order , but they would do it now . Another person gets on the line and said my bloodwork was done 10 months ago so I don't need to do it . Furthermore , the appointment I had scheduled with the Dr was unnecessary . Do they not read charts ? Also , the two times I went to actually see Dr Sullivan he seemed apathetic and not knowledgeable . He communicates primarily through the customer portal which to me , maybe I'm old school but I like to actually talk to the Dr, seems impersonal. I was actually recommended to this Dr by a friend . I've been seeing Dr Sullivan for a little over a year. Reading through some of these other reviews makes me laugh! One of the things I love about him and his staff is that it's not all business blah blah. He's very knowledgeable and I love that we all joke around and enjoy ourselves during the appointments while getting things addressed. Some of these other people need to lighten up a little! He pulls out all the stop and goes above and beyond making calls to specialists and following up to make sure I've had the best care possible! He has worked with me when I changed jobs and insurance companies and coverage to make sure I have what I need to be healthy. This year he helped save my life. So happy I found this doctor! He is excellent. I was able to get an appointment quickly. When I arrived, I was seen right away--no waiting. He spent a lot of time reviewing my history and listening to my health goals. He ordered state of the art cholesterol tests. He reviewed my lab results thoroughly with me the following week. His online patient portal lets you see your vital signs, health notes, and care plan after each visit. This would be very helpful for a family sharing care responsibilities for an elderly parent. Most of all, Dr. Sullivan is really down to earth and easy to talk to. I usually feel nervous at the doctor, yet within five minutes I felt very at ease with him. His office administrator and nursing staff are also great. The office is centrally located in Scottsdale with plentiful parking. read more

I found Dr. Sullivan on yelp so I figured it would only make sense to write my own review. The main reason that I decided to see him (other than my condition) was based off the reviews and location of his office. Also, I was able to be seen on the day that I had called, and I was experiencing a really nasty hive breakout. I did not have a PCP before seeing Dr. Sullivan, but now I'm happy that I do. He took great care of my condition. I was nervous about what was happening because I had never experienced anything like it before-he reassured me that I was going to be okay. He took diligent care of me throughout my recovery process. He paid particular attention to every detail that I had explained to him. He is a great doctor and I would recommend him to anyone. I am so grateful that I was seen by Dr. Sullivan. The staff is also great as well. I felt safe in the environment and I feel safe in the hands of Dr. Sullivan. I moved to AZ and was in need of a GP. I found Dr Sullivan on Yelp and made an appointment. The office staff is great, and his nurse Crystal is awesome! Really like them! Dr Sullivan is great, I have some health issues and he is addressing them and we are both working on them. He is supportive on my weight loss issues, and gave me some pointers. I find him funny, concerned, and open to ideas. I don't understand why anyone would leave bad feedback he's a great doctor who will listen to you. He has a great sense of humor too. She has a chronic disease, and he directs her to high-quality specialists as needed, always careful about getting her prompt testing or treatment. He has also taken care of her for many acute illnesses and has always quickly alleviated her symptoms so that her quality of life is improved. We both appreciate his straightforward manner because his facts are combined with kindness and just a bit of appropriate humor. He presents all options for treatment , explaining the advantages of his recommendations and patiently educates us as needed. I've been a patient of Dr Sullivans for nearly 4 yrs after moving to Scottsdale. His staff is always friendly and professional. His office is neat and clean. Dr Sullivan is friendly, professional and so so easy to talk to. Yes the initial meeting with him, he appears stand offish but once he gets to know you, you will laugh and can chit chat with him about anything. Puts you at ease EVERYTIME. I love that he makes the time to talk with me about new meds, he does his homework.. He's into health and would rather see you do terrific diet and nutrition than pop a pill. But he won't sacrifice your health by denying you a pill if you need it. I even had his medical assistant remark the last time I was in--how it has been awhile. Well, I'm healthy! Thanks Dr! I've had problems with referrals to, but they are not the doctors fault but my insurance. He put all referrals in within 24 hrs of the request and my insurance messed up and never called me. My husband I have been patients of Dr. Sullivan for over 14 years. I have seen many doctors in the past and have never found one to be as caring and knowledgeable as he is. We moved several years ago and he offered to recommend a doctor closer to us since we had a long drive to see him.
