I recently had to visit Advanced Endodontic Associates due to an emergency and I am thoroughly impressed with the entire experience.

Wow! Where do I begin? Let me start off by saying if you are looking for a specialists to take care of any tooth pain or handle your root canal, if you happen to find Dr. Kim Menhinick, with Advanced Endodontic Associates, you will be in great shape and no need to look any further! She is AMAZING and I will explain exactly why! First off, I have had quite a few root canals with different Endodontists and I am very familiar with the various levels of discomfort that goes along with getting a root canal! For all of these reasons, whenever you mention getting a root canal, folks gasp and immediately say "I'm so sorry". Well, let me go ahead and say that Dr. Kim Menhinick will put all those worries and concerns to rest immediately from the very first time you see her. My first consultation appointment with her was INCREDIBLE! She was very PATIENT - listening to all of my concerns, THOROUGH - examining every single tooth in the related area, KNOWLEDGEABLE- explaining every single step she was taking and why she was taking that step, SENSITIVE - ensuring that I was not under any discomfort, and finally KIND - letting me feel like I was the most important patient in the world! On the day of my root canal procedure, Kim again explained the entire process to me, made sure I was comfortable, numbed me up really good, and we were off to the races! She took the time to make sure I was protected with the runner guard around my tooth to ensure no bacteria made it into my mouth and explained to me the signs to make with my hand if I ever felt any discomfort at all (spoiler, I never did feel any pain whatsoever). Dr. Kim Menhinick has state of the art equipment that helped to ensure my tooth was cleaned out entirely and completed the procedure very quickly! She is so great and efficient that my jaw was not even tired when she finished as she allowed me to rest my jaw a couple times which really helped! During the entire procedure she thoroughly explained what she was doing and kept me up to speed with what she was seeing. Dr. Kim Menhinick is an AMAZING Endodontist and I will recommend that all of my friends and family go to this specialist. She made a life long patient out of me! Let me start by saying I was not excited about needing a Root Canal. I put off getting it done because I was so nervous. Let me just say from the moment that I walked in the office, I was greeted by Jamie and a big smile. After I filled out my forms, I was taken to the back treatment room, and that is where the Magic happened!!! I met Dr Scott Hetz!! First, he walked in the room and said hello and shook my hand, then followed up by showing me my xrays and explained why I needed a root canal. The whole time Dr Hetz talked to me during my consultation he kept assuring me that my root canal procedure was going to go great and I will be able to eat ice cream as soon as the Root Canal was completed. My Root Canal Procedure went great!! Dr Hetz was amazing!!! The administrative and clinical staff we all awesome!! I hope none of my readers ever need a root canal, but if you do... While traveling, I needed an emergency root canal. Dr. Scott Hetz was on the job! He worked diligently to clear the infection but the roots were petrified. It was grueling but I had complete confidence. Dr. Scott's approach and teaching while doing left me feeling very informed and assured. While the procedure itself failed, I'd go back to Dr. Scott in a heartbeat. He was honest about the reality of the tooth, gave it his best, and showed empathy for my experience. Ultimately, the tooth needed removal and it is now on its way to DC for his further exploration. I wouldn't hesitate to place my mouth in his care again. Did not have a good experience here. Was recommended by a general practice dentist. I did all of this online paperwork before my appointment. I verified my insurance. Took about an hour to complete. I arrive early for my appointment as the office requested. I was asked to fill out the pain questionnaire again upon arrival. Then I waited in the waiting room for twenty minutes. Longer- actually if you couldn't the time I was there early. Not once did the receptionist say anything like oh we are running behind or oh something is wrong, fine. Finally get in to see a dentist. She does a brief exam and then says she needs to take a new x ray before proceeding with the visit and treatment. The tech comes in and says the x ray machine is down, says they will just restart. No biggie. Twenty more minutes pass. Tech comes back and asks "what my afternoon looks like" (i.e. To wait longer). This is 65 minutes into the visit. I tell her I have to go back to work and can't spend my afternoon there. Doc comes back and says oh the tech has told you the issue.... and asks me to set up another appointment. Basically wasted an hour and a half for nothing. No answers, no clarity, just frustration. And no, I won't be going back in the hopes that their equipment works this time. Needless to say it was a complete waste of my time. read more

I wanted to fix a discolored tooth for my wedding day pictures. I had a dead tooth and it was yellow although most people didn't notice it. I had an option to get a veneer but wanted a second opinion. It was recommended to get a root canal and bleach it from the inside. It worked amazingly! Dr. Hetz was awesome! It didn't hurt at all. We did the bleaching in 2 steps and that tooth matched so perfectly to the other teeth. We were all in awe. The staff is great overall! Can't recommend enough! They don't take insurance but it was painless to get reimbursed from my dental insurance. They filed everything on my behalf. read more

I saw Dr. Farah Assadipour for an endodontic consultation. I was blown away by the professionalism of the doctor and the entire team! From the front desk to the back everything was seamless! They are so high tech. I had a 3D scan taken of my tooth. She explained things in such a detailed way so that I could understand exactly what was going on! They are very efficient and friendly. I was referred by my oral surgeon and needed to be seen asap and they were able to fit me in the same day. The doctor I saw, Dr. Ribera, was great: friendly and knowledgeable, walked me through the whole process explaining as he did his analysis. The office is well equipped and the whole staff was very professional. The office is clean and pleasant and they even have complimentary water bottles. HOWEVER, they do not accept any insurance which to me translates to money before health hence the lack of the 5th star. They do fill out and submit insurance forms for you (so all you have to do is hope and pray their services are covered). They go over all fees on a tablet before they do anything. read more

Being a dentist myself can prove to be difficult when it comes to being a patient, but Dr. Menhinick completed my root canal and I could not be more pleased with my experience. The case was more difficult than your average case because my canal was very calcified, but she made me feel absolutely confident and comfortable with the procedure. It was truly amazing to see the partnership between Washington Center for Dentistry and Advanced Endodontic Associates work simultaneously together. The dental care, expertise, and family type atmosphere is one I've never heard of before. When I needed a root canal, Dr. Hetz was the dentist I saw who performed the root canal procedure. I was impressed that he actually read through the first patient paperwork I diligently completed. He knew me before he introduced himself. I felt valued as being more than just a patient. Dr. Hertz's work embodied education, expertise, integrity, and professionalism throughout the process during and after. When he promised he was going to call the evening after he completed the procedure, his promise was upheld. He is very reliable and a true practitioner at what he does who far exceeded my expectations, especially guiding me throughout the procedure. I felt like I was in a Endodontic 101 course in dental school which I valued very much. He showed me everything he was doing and entertained all my questions while being in the chair. I felt I could trust him to do the root canal procedure from the very beginning. He cares and takes a lot of pride in the work he does for patients needing dental work done. The dental pain I had experienced for almost a week, astonishingly went away after he performed my root canal. I cannot say enough about the high level of care, both professional and personal, that I felt under the excellent hand of Dr. Scott Hetz and his wonderful staff. I had "endured" a root canal in the past elsewhere, and had been so anxious at the prospect of suffering another. However, Dr. Hetz revealed ability and acumen alongside an absolute love for his work that blew me away. My experience was pain-free and actually pleasant---I almost fell asleep during the procedure, I was that relaxed. Wow. I was referred here from a general dentist from Capitol Hill Dental Group. This place is nice ..... and expensive just for 3-D x-rays, but it's the price you have to pay when you want to be sure that you don't need a root canal from a strange accident on your first night in D.C. The assistants are very nice and so are the rest of the staff. The specialist was very thorough with explaining everything before making any decisions. I can't really deduct stars because anything dental related is never cheap, which was the only downside because it was so expensive, but there was nothing bad to say about this place because the service and professionalism was on point. read more

I was referred to this office by my primary care dentist for a root canal. I have received root canals in the past, and although they are never a joy, Dr. Assadipour made my experience as stress-free and painless as possible. She was thorough in explaining the process and made me feel extremely comfortable. Her assistants were kind and also made my experience as pleasant as possible. The reason for my 4 stars instead of 5 is due to a receptionist. Upon arrival, I was told that I would be expected to pay a considerable amount for the procedure out of pocket. Unbeknownst to me, my insurance did not cover the whole procedure. But root canals are an emergency right? Especially when your only other option is an extraction...and I would like to think that we all want to save our teeth. When I asked the receptionist if I could then pay at a later date, she (blonde hair) told me that it would be totally fine, and asked me what day I would be able to pay...in which I told her the upcoming Friday. What a relief I thought. Upon check out however, I was told by another receptionist (brown hair) that I needed to pay something at the time of visit. I then tell her, almost ashamed, the amount I was able to do. "$20?" She loudly snarled as she took my payment. I was embarrassed. She did not know my financial situation, neither did she care. I assured her that I would pay my balance in full the upcoming Friday, but it was disheartening that my pleasant experience was annihilated by my check out process. read more

Dr. Hetz is the best!!!! I recently had a crown placed (because of a cracked tooth) by my dentist and it was the first dental work I had ever had so I was very nervous... I started feeling pain shortly after and was referred to Dr. Hetz because I heard he is the best endodontist in the area and is also board certified. I'm not sure any of my friends have ever described a root canal experience as amazing but Dr. Hetz was incredible! He walked me though ever step of the process and I felt so comfortable.
