I went to give him my computer at 11 am and he promised he would get it done a minim of 3 hours and I gave him like 7 hours to get it done. I come back and he' doesnt even have it finished and blames how many customers that he invites for repairs as the reason why. My computer stopped charging around April of this year. I went to Advanced Computers to get my battery replaced and he upsold me on my battery and my computer still didn't charge properly so I had to purchase a higher voltage cable. My computer worked and charged alright but I could tell something was wrong. A couple months later my computer completely shuts off and gives me an error that my hard drive is not connected. I open my computer and it turns out that there is no hard drive at all within it. I have not opened my computer nor do I have a removable hard drive. He took it and jerrymandered my computer into working. Do not go here. The owner is a scam artist and will take advantage of you if you do not understand computers. read more

I initially went to budget repair but they charged me over $100 just to replace my charger port on my laptop! The thing is it took nearly three weeks and they couldn't identify the other problem my computer was having. Well after taking it here I can say say that Advanve computers is one of the best repair places in Indiana. The owner listened to my story and was very sympathetic, even waiving the diagnostic cost. He told me the problem would be fixed in TWO HOURS, and told me to just hang out and walk me through the issue. We listened to some music, talked about ourselves, and I learned so much about computers. I had a great time and don't understand the hate. Don't listen to the negative reviews and give him a chance. I went there on a Sunday (1/24/21) at noon (the opening time set by the business), but once I got there, there was a sign stuck on the door saying that the owner was out and that I should call a certain number. I call the number and the owner tells me he's out eating lunch and makes up some bs excuse that since there are days when he has to sit in his shop all day with no customers, that service is by appointment only (nowhere is this mentioned anywhere on his website, and didn't his shop just open?) and he tells me I have to wait 30 mins while he finishes eating lunch (extremely unprofessional). Once he arrives, he starts to go off on me about how busy he was and tells me he's going to charge me $70 up front without even looking at my laptop, and then he starts yelling at me and berating me for trying to get him to do the job for free. This whole time the only thing I'd said to him was a description of my laptop issue, and I've never even been to his shop before. I couldn't believe what I was witnessing. He starts to get very pushy and continues yelling at me, trying to rush me into making a decision I would regret (classic M.O. of a crook and someone trying to defraud you btw), so I started to walk away. And then he yells back at me that he'll charge me $35 and starts vomiting out a word salad, consisting of some combination of the things I've mentioned above. Avoid this place like the plague. The owner was super nice and super helpful. I would suggest calling ahead to make sure he's there. He fixed my laptop in a couple of hours on a Saturday for a very reasonable price. He saved me hundreds plus was super helpful and explained what and why he was doing to my laptop. read more

September 2017 - I am a Purdue student, and I had an issue with a broken phone. The other reviews mentioned how the owner can be rude - this is somewhat true. He is very assertive, but he also knows what he is doing. The owner can fix most problems with hardware or software for laptops and phones. Note that it costs $35 for him to inspect damage. Also, if you bring in a phone, he will require you to provide the password, so make sure that you protect or delete any sensitive data on it beforehand. They also do NOT accept credit cards, cash only! They also buy old or broken electronics here. 4/5 stars for good service and (usually) fast service. The prices are a little bit expensive. read more

I experienced a hardware lock on my computer. So I came here to get it fixed because the location was convenient. I knew what the problem was with my computer but I did not have the tools here at school. Knowing what the problem was but not having the tools for it highlighted just how incompetent and how much of a crook this business owner is. $35 for a diagnosis would be fine if he actually knew anything about computers. I asked about the diagnosis results and he started to throw what would resemble a tantrum, slamming my laptop shut. The actual diagnosis he gave was a completely made-up compilation of issues that had nothing to do with the real problem. I agree with the other reviews here. Maybe this could be a good place if you need to buy something quickly and know what you need but this owner doesn't know anything about computers and will rob you if you don't know anything. The owner or the guy who works in Advanced Computers will be very helpful when you have minor problem like you need to replace power cable, replace the processor, replace screen and so on. But, for serious problems, don't go there. I think he could not fix serious problems of your laptop or PC. But, if you if you want a better deal on Comcast cable, Internet and all telephone services, go to Advance Computer, an authorized dealer for Comcast. read more

Very expensive. The guy will charge nothing below 150 dollars for simple repairs. Is very rude and greedy for money. As soon as he gets money he will kick you out. Also, he accepts only cash no card, does't even have a proper billing system to keep record of anything (his earnings). So you know what that means. I'm so sad that this place has some bad reviews! The man working here has literally saved my academic career three times!! First, my hard drive crashed so he replaced it and has been working fine for 6+ months. Next, during finals week I thought that my hard drive crashed again, so I went back to him, but he just fixed the assembly and it was as good as new so no need to buy a hard drive. Next, I lost my charger and had to study for finals, and I didn't want to go all the way to Best Buy in Lafayette, so I went and bought a charger from him. It was $55 when they are $80 at Best Buy!! (Granted the ones at Best Buy come with the cord extension and this one didn't) but I was still very pleased. I will go here for all of my future computer problems at school! read more

I've been there to get my laptop fixed twice. Both times the solution was very quick and within a day I was able to pick up my laptop. The pricing is very reasonable and in my experience the store owner has maintained a generally upstanding policy on not charging a second time for fixing a problem that reappears after the first time he checks it. read more

If I could give him 0 stars, I would. He sells defective parts and is very rude. He put a defective screen twice on my phone and when I approached him about the second one, he said he would charge me to change it because apparently the parts being defective is my fault. If you have another option, save your time and go there. If you don't, let your device be broken, it's better off that way. read more

I'd give this guy no stars if I could. I did not give this person any business; so I am rating this place on their customer service and not their ability to do work. From the last review it seems it is a good place to go but I did not have the same experience. When something so essential as a laptop breaks, you want to get it fixed pronto. I'd advise in not going to this place. Individual is RUDE; perhaps not to everyone but I have heard similar stories. NEVER GO HERE!!! This guy has the WORST ATTITUDE EVER!!! (NOTE: If Yelp did not force me to give me at least 1-STAR rating for posting a review, I WOULD HAVE GIVEN A ZERO-STAR TO THIS GUY!!!!) I spilled coffee on my macbook pro and wanted to call up and find out based on my laptop's condition, how much can be fixed and the charges. The guy NEVER LISTENED TO ME on the phone. Constantly kept interrupting me and asked me to come to the shop. He spoke just one sentence, then said he is busy with customers and ended the call. I go to his store and wait outside for a very long time (he goes on a NEVER ENDING LUNCH BREAK FOR 2-3 HRS or so). I come back in the evening to his shop and I see him working on some laptop. As soon as I begin describing the problem, he cuts me short, tells me I need to replace the whole thing for $500. I told him I do not think the problem is severe and if he can just open the laptop and check the nature of damages. He gives a CONDESCENDING AND RUDE reply that he doesn't think so. The guy acted as if I DO NOT know anything about computers. I was not happy with the way he responded and so I told him I will think about it and come back tomorrow. He replies back - "Well, that doesnt mean you have an appointment"! When I asked when can I get an appointment, he doesn't answer me and blabbers - "The longer you wait, the worse your laptop will get and you will be responsible". He NEVER even told me when I can get an appointment, acting too busy. Honestly, I JUST DINT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE HELL THE PROBLEM was with his attitude. This guy 1) DOESNT LISTEN TO WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY 2) DOESNT ANSWER YOU 3) SHOWS OFF AS IF HE IS THE BUSIEST COMPUTER REPAIR GUY IN THE WHOLE PLANET (ask for an appointment, chances are you will get a RUDE or NO reply) 4) TRIES TO PRESSURIZE YOU INTO PAYING MONEY and ACCEPTING WHAT HE SAYS 5) DOES NOT KNOW EVEN A TINY BIT HOW TO TREAT CUSTOMERS!!! I am never going to stop by this place for ANY REASON WHATSOEVER. And, I RECOMMEND the same to everybody in West Lafayette. This locally owned electronics repair store is not only convenient for students on Purdue's campus, but it comes at a decent price, too. For students who don't have cars or other means of transportation, Advanced Computer, located in the Chauncey Village, gives a professional repair store for those in need. For the store being so close to campus, repairs and price tags are reasonable. $35 for initial diagnosis of the problem, and then depending on your problem and how you want to advance from there, you can leave it with Amir and in a few days, your computer will be good as new. They are very careful with your machines and treat them with utmost respect. Advanced Computer is also an authorized Comcast cable/Internet distribution site, which is convenient if you are looking for cable/Internet for your apartment. I signed up for my cable/Internet through Advanced Computer and am very happy with it. Advanced Computer also sells modems, routers, cables of all varieties, laptops, monitors, headphones, et cetera. Everything you would need at such a prime location. One downfall is that Advanced Computer is picky on what credit cards they use, so I recommend bringing cash for your repairs. read more
