We contacted the store and all the employees were so helpful. Peter came by our house and measuresld gave us advice and ideas. Peter came a second time to confirm what we wanted and to confirm the measurements. The blinds are made by the company which I wanted and they guarantee their work. After the blinds were made, Jose came and installed them. He was personable and did a great job. One of the shades we ordered I wanted to change and he and the company worked with us. I am very happy with Advanced Blind and Shade. I have new windows that make it difficult to install blinds. I wanted something that looked good but took up little of my condo's ocean views. Peter helped me find shades that retract well and look almost like they are part of the window when they are fully up. He also helped me figure out how to cover a stacked washer/dryer that could not be hid behind a door. I ended up with a Roman Shade that works really well. The installation process was great as well. Jose showed up on time, easily found my condo, installed quickly and efficiently. He cleaned up after himself and the shades looked and worked perfectly. Anytime I call their office I get a human answering the phone who is knowledgeable and helpful - Tyler helped me a few times and I always accomplished what I set out to do when I called. High pressure salesmen came to our house a few days after we visited their shop in Monterey. If you like low-rent used car sales people, these are the people you are going to meet. Two came and it was like good copy and bad cop about the urgency of our order. We have other blinds to install and we will not use this company because of the sales people who came to our house. Another thing, if you attempt to contact them you have to check a box about receiving text messages about their offers. Very unprofessional. Finally, even though we paid part in advance by check they give you no option to pay by check. I have a call in to pay by check. However, installation was great and every thing fit perfectly. read more

Peter was our sales rep and did an excellent job helping us figure out what blinds worked in our home. In the end, we covered about 16 windows and the result was outstanding. The blinds look great and match the design of the home. Install was smooth, the quality was great, and the service has been awesome. I have had a couple of service calls about the motorized blinds but they resolved them quickly and professionally. Buying blinds is always risky but these guys are great, they are local and invited me to the shop. Great to see them in the process of building the blinds. I have no reservations at all about highly recommending Advanced Blinds and Shade, and Peter in particular. He is patient and kind and always willing to help and very responsive. Took in a shutter door for repair because my bad decided to use it as a chew toy.The door was from an unknown manufacture. The quote to fix it was very reasonable with about a 4 week lead time. They called in 2 and 1\2 weeks telling me it was done. My main concern was with the repaired door color matching the rest of the shutters. My concern turned out to be unwarranted. The color matched perfectly. If the quality of the repair is any indication of there workmanship on a installation, I wholeheartedly recommend Advanced Blinds. read more

Made an appointment to measure windows on September 30th, the person said he would get back to me with a quote. Here we are Oct. 7th and nothing yet. I had to call them and inquire about the quote, person said "we been backed up, I will email you a quote today" Nada. I ordered blinds from them. The person measuring was helpful with information in making the best decision. The blinds arrived and were installed efficiently. More importantly I had a problem with blinds that were NOT made by Advanced Blind. They were extremely helpful, told me what part I needed to order and offered to replace the broken part at a reasonable cost. I brought in a 2nd shade that they didn't make - they repaired it while I waited. The people at this store are the best! read more

We needed multiple blinds after a big remodel and called Advanced after my friend was happy with her new blinds from them. We had Adam come out to the house and show us samples and give us ideas. He recommended that certain blinds we ordered for sliding glass doors have shorter cords in case young children might visit and possibly get caught in a cord -- and extra helpful suggestions like that. He was completely delightful and made it really easy. Then a couple of weeks later when they were done he came back and installed them quickly and easily and they are gorgeous. I wanted to buy local. I used Advanced Blind & Shade for that reason. I figured made locally and the company being here would be better. As a rule you get better customer service on any problems that arise. Not so with Advanced Blinds. At the time of installation I was told any problem just call. That the blinds had a lifetime guarantee. Now that I have i problem now they are saying the lifetime guarantee is on the fabric only. I have a blind that keeps falling down and won't stay up. Something with the mechanics is not holding the blind up. Now they want $75.00 to come out and look at it plus more for the repair. That's not what I bought. I'm not unhappy with the blinds and shutters in general. Just that one is failing to work properly. I guess when someone wants to sell something they'll say anything. Oh well my mistake. You expect that from most used car salesman, but not Advanced Blind & Shade. read more

Wow - I'm really surprised that AB&S has received a number of negative reviews. I've worked with them on a number of projects - a house in Carmel Valley, an apartment building in Monterey, and my current house in Old Town Monterey - and have always been pleased with the service and the product. I made the mistake of using 3-Day Blinds once (due to a special promotion) and was extremely disappointed with their design advice, the service, and the product. So when it came time to correct that mistake, I called Todd at AB&S I got exactly what I needed. We had Advanced install shades in our master bedroom and they did an excellent job, They measured the area for the shades and the measurements were right on. The installer hung the shades perfectly and they look outstanding - and they work like a charm. Plus their estimate was 15% lower than a competitor. We give Advanced 5 stars. They also have a lovely show room with plenty of parking spaces. And they are nice people. read more

I took 2 blinds in for repair (restringing). I explained that these are adjacent to a series of 5 other blinds on a large expanse of picture windows. I received a call from them the next day saying they could not restring them. I asked them to please try to make them work, and I said I didn't care about the opening halfway feature characteristic of most blind restringing, and I would be glad if they just worked, i.e, opened and close from the top to bottom. This company tried and called back saying they successfully restrung the blinds. However, at no time did they disclose that they removed the upper railing to these blinds, a surprised I discovered when I went to pick them up. I was not made aware of this and I could not use the blinds that were missing a railing as they would not match the rest and were restructured, I would never have agreed to this condition. The restring tech then proceeded to insist he told me about this, but in truth he never did. He became emotionally aggressive on the phone and proceeded to imply all this all was my fault and in a hostile tone said they would do no more repairs for me. In truth, I would never do business with this company again in any case. I then took the blinds to another blind repair company who was far nicer and they said the blinds were definitely repairable. This new company was starting to restring one of the blinds and said that the fabric gasket for the larger blind was missing. I called Advanced Blinds to retrieve this part, but the repair tech immediately said that they lost it, and it appears they had no interest in looking for it because of the quickness of their reply. My feeling here is that I was being punished, that they had no interest in seeking or returning an important part of one blind which they themselves removed. This gasket is an essential part to repair this blind and since there are 14 other blinds in the room where they are installed and they all must match, so I may have to get 14 new blinds at great expense, due to the negligence of Advanced Blinds losing this gasket to one blind. In my opinion this is a horrible company and I would not recommend Advanced Blinds to anyone and I would very strongly recommend anyone to stay far away from this company. read more
