My nails tech was Jade, who was absolutely FANTASTIC and so sweet. I had to get my acrylic nails removed, manicure and shellac and she was great. I've previously had bad experiences with getting my acrylics removed, but this time it was amazing and so gentle and did not damage my nails at all. All of it was also very decently priced and it was great. I also want to add that my nail tech's (Jade) sister did her nails and I was speechless (photo added below). If you get a pedicure, you sit in the massage chairs, and it is very relaxing. For the manicure, you can also get one with or without a massage, but I always like to recommend a massage as it is quite relaxing. If you have a reference idea for the nails that you want, you could always show it to them and talk through what they can do to achieve the look. I definitely recommend calling or booking online as they can sometimes get very busy and are not always able to accommodate walk-ins. With that being said if you are in the area, I do recommend just stopping in and seeing whether or not they have an opening if they do not then they will surely try to book you in for a time that works. They also have a stamp card for services over $50 so that is always a plus and perk for loyal customers.

The colour I originally picked turned out to be lighter than the sample, and after doing one nail, she pointed it out to me and went and got another colour she recommended; I agreed and she went ahead with the new shade, and it turned out to be a perfect match for what I had originally wanted. I was happy she made the suggestion since I know some nail technicians just stay quiet and do what you've asked without question. The pricing is great, and the cheapest I've paid in a long time. It's two weeks passed and my nails are growing out great without any chips. One thing I noticed was that over at their pedicure section, the tubs all had plastic liners - I had read somewhere this is actually extremely hygienic and something that should be done more widely. I'm excited to have found a nice nail place in my area, since I've tried a few in the past that were either too expensive or didn't hold up. I'd definitely recommend this place to others.

After Nancy confirmed my appointment she harshly said, "and don't be late otherwise I won't be able to see you until 1:30 ". Her comment stunned me because I had not been late in many months. Over the years I thought Nancy did not like me because no matter how much I said hello, tried to make conversation and gave good tips she was very serious, hardly acknowledged me when I came in she never wished me a nice day or thanked me for a tip. She shows no basic customer service in politeness. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt because I did like how my nails were done, but yesterday I read through other reviews where others were treated rudely by Nancy. Other customers also said Smile Nail employees would call them if they are even 1 minute late for their appointment threatening to give their appointment away. I had the same experience. Then I would walk in the salon and no one would even be there, they weren't even that busy. Frankly, those phone calls made me feel a bit harassed but I let it slide and tried to remain a loyal customer. Other times if I asked for my mani pedi to be done separate, Nancy would get upset and say, " I'already told you before, you have to request that ahead of time, as if its my fault for not keeping track of all her rules. " It's rude and I don't need to be chastised like a child, especially in front of other customers. I pay too much money and give nice tips to be treated so harshly. They are losing workers and recently I have noticed they only have one other guy still working with them. Lin is friendly and gives good pedicures. She recently complained to me that no one wants to work for them. Perhaps if they created a kinder environment others would want to continue working there. I ended up calling back a couple hours later and just cancelling my appointment. I will no longer be going to Smile Nails or recommending them. I hope they stop and read these comments and work harder on their attitude.

One of the girls was giving me a pedicure and Anna (the owner) was giving me a manicure at the same time. The girl was scraping the dead skin off my foot and wasn't paying attention and scraped the side of my foot. Realizing what she'd done, she immediately dropped my foot in the water to hide the cut, which stung so fcking bad. I pulled my foot out of the water and blood was gushing out. Anna said something to her in Vietnamese and the girl ran to grab ointment and bandages. I'm not impressed that she didn't acknowledge her mistake right away, but I didn't make a fuss. The girl was so embarrassed, she didn't look at me for the rest of the time so Anna ended up taking my payment. It's surprising that she charged me full price and I'm an idiot for tipping on top of that. This was 2 months ago and I wasn't going to bother writing about this, but that cut is now a scar, which I'm not happy about. I will never go back there, if I had a health condition this could've ended even worse.

I got a french manicure and pedicure done yesterday which was done amazing and when I got up this morning I realized one of my toes had a chip in the white polish. I went in to the salon not thinking it would be a big deal to see if I could get it fixed before my trip and the lady who came to assist me was extremely rude and made me very uncomfortable for even asking to get it fixed. I never complained about the service and she made it seem like I was a huge inconvenience, was giving me dirty looks, talking to the other employees and even though I couldn't understand exactly what she was saying it was very obvious she was not talking very nice of me. This was very embarrassing and she even had the nerve to tell me to call next time after she started to fix my nail. The previous owners were wonderful and had great service and staff ALWAYS. Since the recent transition things have changed. I never leave bad reviews but I wanted to this time in hopes the new owners read this and can understand how rude this one particular employee was. Having staff like this will turn clients away very quickly. Even though this is a convenient salon for me, I am really considering never going back because of this awful treatment and how embarrassed this employee made me feel for such a small ask.

I didn't take any photos but it looks just like Pure except for the multitude of white sticky flower art placed on the wall. There were no new magazines for a new shop which was disappointing. Why don't shops care about keeping the customers happy in that regard? I was a bit disappointed there. The ladies were kind and friendly and told me they had previously worked at Pure. So you can imagine how all of these things made me skeptical at first. The massage was weak, and you sit in the same uncomfortable position on the sofas, without the massage chairs offeredat most salons. Then again, my massage was only an extra dollar as part of the opening special, so I couldn't really complain but it should have been part of the service, anyway. I was also given the option of an eyebrow thread or nail art which hopefully would have been a better pick. There were few girls working on a weeknight, so I'm not sure if they would have had time for the threading. But the actual mani and pedi (gel on hands only) looked pretty good to me, so $72 later (with a ten dollar tip) I was satisfied and left with a smile on my face. I appreciated the service, the stamp card and the friendliness of the ladies, so in spite of the familiar blips that came with Pure, the positives outweighed the negatives and I will likely return.
