I am very disappointed with my experience at Carmedix. This was my first visit, and it did not go…read morewell. In the morning, an employee told me the repair for my car would cost about $1,060. However, when I returned in the evening to move forward with the repair, I was suddenly quoted $1,800 for the same work. Before coming to Carmedix, I had already received a quote from another shop for about $1,500, and that quote included rear brake drums, brake hardware, brake shoes, front brake pads, rotors, and axle work. Carmedix wanted $1,800 for only the front brake pads, front rotors, and CV axle replacement, without the additional rear brake work. The inconsistent pricing and lack of transparency were very frustrating. I felt misled, and I cannot recommend a shop that changes the price so dramatically within the same day. Please be careful and make sure you get a written estimate before agreeing to any repairs.

They charged me $773 for faulty work based on a diagnostic they never properly performed. I was told my Q3 Audi needed a thermostat--only to later learn it didn't. The part was ordered incorrectly three times, delaying repairs. I was then told by Jennifer McCormick, I should be grateful she did not charge me for their mistake because it cost them money. My car was initially promised back the same day but wasn't returned for two days. The day after pickup, my car wouldn't start, I was able to get a battery jump, to make it to Jiffy Lube (less than 1 mile away) for a battery replacement. Within minutes the dashboard lights lit up, smoke billowed from under the hood and fluid poured from the bottom of the car. Jiffy Lube discovered the intake hose hadn't been properly reconnected--posing serious safety risks to me and others as I was about to travel out of town. Tri City agreed to tow the car back and offered a loaner, which was the only positive experience. They eventually admitted the thermostat wasn't ever needed and said they'd issue a refund. The owner can also express sometimes things just happen and things can go wrong. However, the refund receipt was vague, and when I asked for clarification, shop supervisor Jennifer McCormick responded unprofessionally--handwriting unclear notes on the receipt. I followed up via text, simply requesting confirmation of the refund details. Within minutes, Ken McCormick, the owner, called me with a hostile tone, stating, "I already told you what the refund was for." Despite having printed documentation and screenshots of the initial refund, Ken and the Tri-City team ultimately reversed and voided the promised refund transaction. I had to take my car to another repair shop, where the technicians expressed serious concerns about the work Tri-City performed. All dashboard lights are now on, and there appears to be additional electrical damage. I've already lost over a week of access in my car, now using LYFT and incurred more than $1k in additional repair costs--potentially even more. Tri City Auto is dishonest, unethical, and extends dangerous. I would never trust them with my vehicle again and strongly advise others to avoid this shop. what they are doing to people is so unfair and I would not wish this treatment on anyone.

Later, they called to say both AC lines were leaking and sent a new estimate for $1,996. In this updated estimate, they claimed I had approved the diagnostic for $101, removed the freon recharge from the original quote, and bundled it into the service section along with hose replacement--without clearly explaining the changes. After doing my own research, I found that even the dealership only charges around $780 for the same repair, plus $350 for the recharge. I also spoke with another mechanic in town who informed me that my vehicle had an extended warranty on the AC compressor, and advised me to go to the dealership instead. When I told Brown's Automotive this, they responded with, "Well, how am I supposed to know about a warranty?" It would be helpful if staff at car repair shops were more informed about manufacturer warranties. Instead of automatically charging customers, they could guide them toward services that might be covered--saving time and money and building trust. They refused to remove the diagnostic charge, even though the issue wasn't just the cost--it was the lack of transparency, poor customer service, high cost and the way they misled me throughout the process. I'm shocked by the positive reviews and would never recommend this shop. Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else where honesty and customer care are a priority.

In the next day I had to go get my belongings out of the car, and when I did everybody at the shop was very empathetic to my loss. There are some companies where they are just doing their job and do business as normal. However at Ivey's Towing they showed compassion which I thought was very rare in this business. The company he works for uses Ivey's for their fleet. He waited until the driver came out of the restaurant and talked to him about getting me a tow. The driver said not a problem and called dispatch. He told us that they have to send a truck out from New Bern avenue and it will be here shortly. We had to wait about half an hour for a tow truck to arrive, which since we were in the next town over, wasn't that long to wait. When the tow truck driver showed up he told us that we had spoke to the owner of the company. That fact that the owner goes out into the field, impresses me. The tow truck driver was very nice and fast. He was careful with my car and followed me to my house, where he dropped it off without any issues or problems. We were informed the cost of the tow was only $55 for roughly ten miles. The driver then told me that I would be able to mail in the receipt to my insurance company so I could get the money back. He went even farther and told me to mail a copy because he knows from past experiences the insurance companies will lose the paperwork. I would definitely call them again if I needed a tow and I would recommend them to anyone who needs a tow for whatever reason. This company really does remind me of the great southern charm that most people would expect from North Carolina.

I brought my 2017 BMW X1 to Neal's Garage for a fluid leak. They inspected the car and replaced the…read moreoil cooler. After the repair, the car was still leaking, so I returned for a warranty fix, and they replaced an O‑ring for the upper coolant hose. Even after that, the leak continued. At that point, I no longer felt confident they could diagnose the issue, so I took the car to another mechanic. The second shop identified the actual source of the leak: a broken plastic piece on the oil filter housing where the oil cooler connects. They replaced the entire oil filter housing assembly, and the leak was resolved. From this, I realized that the incorrect part had been replaced initially. Based on what I learned, the plastic housing is the common failure point, not the metal cooler itself. Many mechanics recommend replacing the full housing to stop leaks. When I asked Neal's Garage for a refund, they refused and told me I should bring the car back again under their warranty. However, after two unsuccessful repair attempts, I didn't feel comfortable returning for a third try. At this point, I don't feel confident trusting them with anything beyond basic maintenance.
